Restoring the Goo and Science Jr.
Superfluous J replied to jfknyc's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yes, though you need to transmit or store them in the little science storage box first. Yes. I believe all that would be necessary is to add "rerunnable = True" to them. -
Restoring the Goo and Science Jr.
Superfluous J replied to jfknyc's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
That's one of the (too-few IMO) restrictions of using probes. There really is no way to reset them without a Kerbal present. It's mitigated somewhat in that you don't actually need so much science that you have to go for Eve surface stuff. If you really want it, I'd personally send 3 of everything. They're not THAT heavy, and are surely lighter than the fuel and engines required to get back off of the world. -
Not to mention an ice cream experiment

So let's say you're unlucky enough to have snipers aiming at you with laser sights. How unlucky would you have to be - as in how many snipers would need to be aiming at you at the same time - for you to feel the warmth from the lasers?

how do you measure mass in zero gravity?
Superfluous J replied to Nuke's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You could attach it to a known mass with a string and get them spinning, and the center of mass of the group (the part of the string right in the center) will tell you their ratio. You'd have to account for the distance from each piece's edge to its center of mass, which you can determine by spinning the object by itself I guess. There are probably better ways but hey it's not that much different than using a scale with sliding weights here on Earth. -
Drain tank without accelerating

This is why most of my time is spent in the VAB instead of space- 20 replies

Drain tank without accelerating
Superfluous J replied to RoninFrog's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Do what NASA does and throw the whole tank and engine away. That's what I do.- 20 replies

Not who you're replying to, but my guess is that from the surface of Mun Kerbin would go north and south 23 degrees above and below the celestial equator each month, unlike Earth in our Moon's sky. @kerbnub if this is true, there is a mod that adds axial tilt but it's buggy enough that I stopped even trying to use it. The solution is more complex than it seems - and it already seemed pretty complex. is a

At a guess, you're running out of memory. I''ve never seen that message before and am not very well versed in most of your mods, but at a guess I'd say anything you have installed that does any kind of automated control of he ship is suspect. It's like it's trying to tell you how long until you've reached orbit or space, and it can't.

I like to think it's preundetermined. As in, it's already been determined before a thing happens that it's not been determined.

Asteroid Capture questions.
Superfluous J replied to KoolBreeze420's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Track it in the tracking station, and then click Kerbin or use tab to cycle through all worlds until you're at Kerbin. You will see the asteroid's path. If you want to see it on the launch pad, put your ship there, then go into map mode and target the asteroid. Its orbit will show up when you hit ~ to center back on your ship. I actually do this in the first few minutes of my post popular video, linked in my signature, including an attempt to launch into the same plane as the asteroid. I don't exactly nail it but hey. Also don't try anything else in that video. It was before they changed the atmosphere in 1.0 and you can NOT do that with an asteroid anymore -

How to build a Satellite Network?
Superfluous J replied to LaurieCR7's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Hey rules is rules. I have my own silly ones too For example, I won't move a contracted satellite once deployed (and won't complete multiple satellite contracts with the same satellite) unless someone later asks me to move it. For cash . But I'll happily make the satellite do more than they asked for. -
How to build a Satellite Network?
Superfluous J replied to LaurieCR7's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Naw 90% of the need in a relay is met just by the satellite being there. I leave them in the orbit requested. -
Huh I wasn't on at that time so I can't confirm it, but seeing as you're the only one who saw it it may have been some weird cache issue. The forum's busy enough that someone else should have seen something.

Your opinion please
Superfluous J replied to Ron Devu's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
That's a great rule of thumb, yes. -
How to build a Satellite Network?
Superfluous J replied to LaurieCR7's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I like taking the first few "put a satellite around world x" contracts that come up, and slap a relay on each one. If you do 3-4 you have coverage almost all the time. 7+ and you don't even need to think about it. And you made a ton of cash for making your network. Bonus! -
Favorite Older TV Shows and Movies
Superfluous J replied to Cheif Operations Director's topic in The Lounge
Oh man I loved that. I still quote Schultz when denying I know something. That's the common abbreviation for Star Trek. No, it's not French or something (Treque o Star) but "The Original Series" As far as movies are concerned, some of my all-time favorites from before 1980 are (again in no order): Star Wars (duh) Cool Hand Luke Casablanca Dr Strangelove North By Northwest Murder on the Orient Express -

Thank you for this I was waiting for someone to say they remember watching Arrested Development with their parents or something. +1 to @Delay's TOS and Twilight Zone. I'll throw in, in no particular order and leaving out many shows I'm just not thinking of: Original Doctor Who MASH (trivia: The show lasted longer than the war in which it was set) Leave It To Beaver (As the younger of 2 brothers this was like MY SHOW) A lot of Columbo (Not my fault it was so good it lasted decades) -
I've also never seen a broken image link, though I'll admit it's possible I've just not seen your avatar for the past few days. Your profile pic is like a lot of people's, a silhouette of a Kerbal.

I play the newest version always for various reasons, including that when I find a bug I want to be able to report it. Also, I like all the changes that have come out in each and don't want to play without them. Also, with very few exceptions any updates to mods will be for the current version, so I get all that new stuff too.

Setting points of interest
Superfluous J replied to Reinhart Mk.1's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you're talking about making a note in map mode that's NOT a waypoint then you're 200% guaranteed mistaken. -
Setting points of interest
Superfluous J replied to Reinhart Mk.1's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You could plant a flag. But if you're talking about waypoints, you are 100% guaranteed mistaken. -
Fine. You need to be a bit pickier but if you normally rake in cash hand over fist you'll now merely rake in cash.
