Lightest Eve lander in 1.2
Superfluous J replied to tseitsei89's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
No she's still the nastiest planet to land on and return. I've had plenty of deathsplosions coming down and plenty more failed launches by a few scant hundred m/s, just like in earlier versions -
Back in my day, a movie was barred from entry into the Special Effects category of the Oscars because they "cheated" by using computers for all the effects. ...and had dials that only went up to 13. And no ports or plugs, just screws for UHF and VHF. I am

How would you improve Career Mode?
Superfluous J replied to Lightzy's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'm totes down with that, though I'd pick rep myself I don't even pay attention to it. -
How would you improve Career Mode?
Superfluous J replied to Lightzy's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Strageia goes a long way toward fixing career, by allowing you to focus on one world at a time and get contracts for that world. But honestly this isn't a simulator, it's a video game with simulator aspects. I don't mind the contracts so much, really. When they're boring, it's more because I've been playing the game for thousands of hours than anything else. -
What have you been playing recently? (Other than KSP)
Superfluous J replied to a topic in The Lounge
Due to being insanely busy lately, I have barely touched my gaming laptop (even though I've had it with me most of the time). Instead, I've been playing Animation Throwdown on my phone. It's nice that you can jump in, play 2-3 games (which takes maybe 5 minutes) and hop back out. I don't think I've played a non-KSP game on my computer since early October. And I've not played much KSP since then either :/ -
That is true. Also true, the post I linked to is in Add On Releases, which is not in the Lounge I beat you both to it, also in the linked post

Actually it's not. This one is. The forum doesn't number each post, sadly.

[1.12.x] Kerbal Alarm Clock v3.13.0.0 (April 10)
Superfluous J replied to TriggerAu's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
EDIT: This is post 9000 for me. Every post after this one will be OVER NINE THOUSAND! (Thanks @monstah for pointing that one out) I guess it's time to roll this old pic out again -
This was happening right as 1.2 came out. I think with the first update of GT to work in 1.2.0. It got fixed, but maybe not all the way? Check back through the thread. I too saw this one time. When it happened, I hit alt-F12 for the debug menu and there were errors scrolling in it when the game paused. I sadly didn't think at the time to note exactly what they were but it had something to do with a string. I restarted the game and have not seen the errors again. If I do, I'll file a proper bug report with logs et al. But I suggest anybody getting these slowdowns to check that screen and if you're getting errors. And then come back here with logs

Aha! I had life support installed but uninstalled it, but the stuff is still in the craft file. Never occurred to me that that would affect it. Must be because there's a Kerbal in the pod, because the decoupler right above it is a valid thing to deploy from. Thank you! Yeah I was trying to both do the mission and standardize "40 ton launches" at the same time. Though I think I'll do what you do from now on in sandbox mode, and then copy the mission profile into my save
-
I don't. It's basically Ingress only it's: Less involved More battery-draining Slower to play Harder to hold ground I stopped playing shortly after I started. I think I made like level 8 or something. I stopped right as you stopped just getting free levels for playing. I've cooled on location based games, and am enjoying Animation Throwdown (a card battler) instead.

I'm having a problem with a fairly complex ship launching in a sandbox game on KSP 1.2 using KSTS 1.5 and GravityTurn 1.7.2 only (I'm trying to launch with GravityTurn and record with KSTS). The ship has a TR-18A decoupler right above the root part, a probe core that is on the launcher. The payload is about 40 tons (39.5ish IIRC) and under a fairing, as is the decoupler and probe core. The fairing is part of the launcher, not the payload. When I click "record", several decopulers are available but the TR-18A is not. I'm not sure what else to try, so I'm appealing to the thread. Here is a zip with the craft file, ksp.log, and output_log.txt from a run where I loaded the ship onto the pad and opened up KSTS to see this screen:

He went from theory to practice with: In short, yes you can. It's not an orbit but you can circle a planet in such a way until fuel runs out.

How come every thread about this has an obscure title? -

Adjustments to adjustment contracts
Superfluous J replied to voicey99's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Neither of those mods replace mission control with a building that controls missions. -
Adjustments to adjustment contracts
Superfluous J replied to voicey99's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Apparently very, as neither Squad nor any modders have done so, in spite of it being so obviously terrible as all these posts have made it seem. -

You can say no. Or ignore them. They're not telling you to do anything. They're asking you if you would do it. -

In FTR* every mod that everybody always mentions is mentioned. Except Module Manager. So I'll mention that one to complete the set. *Okay so it's not as catchy as "B4" but I couldn't think of a better way to do it -
Kudos to everybody involved in this. Good to see it was just a simple mistake and then ended up making the site better, and great to see the "guilty party" come out clearly and honestly. These right here are why this community is so great.
