  1. @Pappystein Did you miss the part about them only wanting the landers or did you want to get the rage out of your system about C-8/Nova?
  2. The engine had fairly low TWR. .4ish to .5ish, so acceleration wouldn't be too much of a problem. I actually did run into EC problem, I forgot to orient the wetlab to face the sun. (Cheated electricity back in) As for IRL, considering the panels flew off easily, they'd probably leave them close and put some secondary power generation, such as a smaller fixed solar panel that could better survive acceleration. Or install a self contained fuel cell which the crew could discard after they arrive.
  3. Ah, sorry. I hear Direct Ascent and assume Saturn C-8 or Nova since most options I see call for them. I don't think I've seen any Saturn V direct ascent proposals, and by that i mean personally.
  4. @AlphaMensae Any chance you might do a wrap around launch tower like the Chinese tower, the India tower or something like Angara's launch tower? Not asking for replicas, asking for like general purpose towers.
  5. Saturn C-8 and Nova have been shot down every time they've been asked for. Cobalt thinks it's an ugly rocket. Don't know how Zorg feels about it, I've forgotten. Invader, Idk either. If you want C-8 or Nova, you can build it using the 7.5m parts from NFLV, just have to kitbash it.
  6. Full album: Imgur: The magic of the Internet Based off @Beccab findings in their post a few posts back. And yes, I cheated using the orbit tool, sue me. I'm terrible at interplanetary transfers.
  7. Ah, so the solar panels are mostly for the electric drive? That makes more sense, thanks. Kinda forgot that ion engines/Electric propulsion engines are power hungry.
  8. Solar panels and RTGs? Why though? If it's to save the RTGs for later use, don't RTGs continuously produce power and have no off switch? So, they're wasting the RTGs?
  9. @Zorg Any plans for the Flying Elephant? AKA Dumbo NTR Prototype and Advanced Dumbo 7195925 (osti.gov) 19920001882.pdf (nasa.gov)
  10. I think I found a minor typo. The Pioneer 10 Extreme Ultraviolet Spectrometer is called the "Mariner" 10 Extreme Ultraviolet Spectrometer, at least with Real Names.
  11. Anybody else missing the Mariner 10 probe core? I can't find it at all. I've updated to the latest patch too. I've tried all the search words I could think of, even went through my command list. Nothing.
  12. Cryotanks should already do that iirc. In the right click menu you should be able to switch to other fuel types. Hydrolox should be one, and I think Methalox is too.
  13. None, I don't do drugs. I do think I've contracted Kerbal Syndrome though. Symptoms include, but not limited to: An innate irrational drive to create ludicrous rockets, wanting to add boosters to anything and everything, adding K to everything and killing off hundreds of green little men and women in the name of science.
  14. Full album: Imgur: The magic of the Internet Whoo boy. Took a little work, but finally made it into orbit. 3 ton payload into 100 x 100 @ 0 degrees. And just BARELY made it into orbit. Had 35 m/s left.
  15. There's Opportunity on Mars that comes close. Built for a 3 month mission, lasted 15 years. Of course, can't really compare the two. One is on a planet, the other is in space, but length wise, they both gave us amazing journeys. Where'd you get those folding back SLA panels with the solar panels?
