True words. I should probably redact my last comments and say that I started with a $600 PC and upgraded it through time to let me stream and record. If you aren't planning on recording in 1080p or streaming than the i3-6100 is probably good. I don't speak from experience in this case so Cantab would have the best/reliable answer. o/

Other than my cargo plane I'm a very big fan of minimalist ships too xD - I'm building up towards a massive interplanetary mission to Laythe though, that by my calculations will be around a thousand parts once it's completely assembled, including my optimized craft. - I'm studying for Video and Motion Graphics and that's the main reason I decided to get such a powerful rig. I'd suggest upgrading to an i5-6500 if it could fit into your budget. It's a powerful CPU, and the last one I used before going to the 6700k.

KSP in particular is very CPU intensive so depending on how big of crafts you're wanting to make, it's always good to have a strong processor. Though with 64 bit multicore threading in KSP performance is a lot better compared to when I was using my AMD fx 8320 (Which is very close to the core you chose). I'm running an i7-6700k now

[1.6.1] Soundtrack Editor 4.6 (2019-01-28)
HafCoJoe replied to pizzaoverhead's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Progress report on my music pack, I've chosen all 16 songs to use for each planetary body and am making final adjustments here and there to get everything finished. For the most part all I would have to do is convert everything to .ogg, and then create the playlists in-game. I've been working slowly - I was curious @pizzaoverhead, how difficult is it to add music fading? That's the number one thing I want in Soundtrack Editor currently - it would add a lot of depth when switching between planetary bodies to have the songs fade in and out.- 779 replies

I'll see if I can post some when I get home - sorry for the report w/ little detail! I usually do my best not to post vaguely but I was having a couple of craft-related game crashes as well which I was more worried about at the moment . Still I wanted to let you know I was having some interesting bugs. It very well could have been craft related as the arrows where'd aligned with the part model every time I tried to move a specific set of cubic octags.

Hm, I did find an interesting glitch with "free snap" mode making the offset widgets not point the right direction I.E. they aren't aligned with their base part. Angle snap during offset mode still makes them point globally north so it's only free snap that's effected it seems. I don't know if you're informed of this yet?

Will try. The only thing I didn't like from Editor Extentions was changing the symmetry wheel from bars to numbers. If you can disable that in settings then I wouldn't have any issues with it . I'm just too used to the standard symmetry look. With the numbers I usually have to dig for a few seconds for the right symmetry option.

Wait I was? one sec EDIT: Just looked through each page, and I don't think I asked before 22 hours ago. If I asked you before, it would have been somewhere other than this thread I think. I honestly don't remember asking before XD

I don't see my name on the waitlist so I guess you accidentally removed it? I'd love it if you could whip up a drawing of my Volta once I get swivel jets on it.

I've had this concept bouncing around my head for a while now, and decided to share it with all of you for your opinions on it. There is an in-game 'economy' with two parts: A statistics board that keeps track of general mission/agency statistics, and a board of achievement against each agency set by players for competing against each other in career saves. Statistics board: What this scoreboard would do is let people see which companies are the most used and why. A board that shows all 27 Agencies in KSP, and a couple of un-biased statistics gathered on each of them from player missions. It's a list of information gathered from the culmination of all saves/missions in hard mode career. Market share - a percentage of how often an agencies parts are used on a mission Failure percentage - a percentage on how often an agencies parts are on a mission that fails Average mission length - how long an average mission is that uses an agencies parts etc Board of achievement: This would let you compete against other players in a race to the top of each scoreboard. At the beginning of a hard mode career save, a player chooses one of the 27 agencies to "sponsor". Everything that the player does in that save is counted towards that agencies board of achievement. Kerbin land speed record Heaviest launch Mission count SPH to VAB percent KIA count Highest air breathing flight Longest air breathing flight Bodies visited - Total count of planets visited Visits to [X] Anomalies visited Ore consumed etc

How would you improve Career Mode?
HafCoJoe replied to Lightzy's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'd run a fund-based career and use 'science' as a scoreboard instead of a means to unlock things. There would be a monthly (or yearly) budget that is given to the player based on their reputation, and higher reputation would make more and better kerbals show up in the astronaut complex. Also, this would add a multiplayer scoreboard controlled by career mode. Let me explain: There is an in-game 'economy' (A scoreboard) that shows each companies name, and a couple of factors on their 'reputation'. It doesn't effect anything in game, it's just a scoreboard between players. Different scoreboards Market share - a percentage of how often a companies parts are used on a mission Failure percentage - a percentage on how often a companies parts are on a mission that failed Efficiency - a count how much fuel is spent lifting X tonnes in each mission that has a companies parts Average mission length - how long an average mission is that uses a companies parts The more parts you use from a specific company, the better their 'standings' are with you and the lower their prices go. unaffected by the global scoreboard, the more you crash with a specific companies parts, the less they pay you at each monthly/yearly budget. What this scoreboard would do is let people see which companies are the most used and why. With how much I've been playing in sandbox mode I just feel limited by career mode's lack of part unlocks. I'd love to instead have everything unlock-able from the start, but have each part cost funds, and have players capped by funds rather than science. If you want to build something huge you can explore planets and fulfill contracts to gain higher rep and raise your monthly paycheck, or you can bs it and fast forward time for a few decades. -
Don't have time to write more sadly, but here is the page for the Volta VI - Spear. VTOL variant to be added soon EDIT: Volta VI - Spear Volta VI - Phantom

It should yes. Correct me if I'm wrong though in your findings Also, that image of Apollo (probably 11? Maybe 10?) is beautiful... best of luck recreating it

Aye it keeps that thankfully lol - It's like the one shader that it doesn't overwrite currently - TextureReplacer just replaces any default squad texture that's name is in it's folder so if you want to add a custom specular texture then you just put the duplicate texture in the same location in TextureReplacer that it is in stock. I.E. Gamedata/Squad/Parts/Command/Mk2LanderCan/module000 TextureReplacer/Default/Squad/Parts/Command/Mk2LanderCan/module000

Hm, may I reserve a spot? I'm at work currently but may want to send a craft file once I get home - I would be asking for reviews on an updated version of the Volta - VTOL variant.

Now the hard part is adding reflections and still having parts look good in comparison to the rest

The more opaque something is the more it reflects so if you make the whole capsule almost invisible except for the windows then it will make all the windows very reflective while the effectiveness on everything else is almost invisible. In line w/ what @cy4n said
