Apparently I would have to unlock the next level of tracking station AND Mission Control before I get the ability to put down maneuver nodes. That will cost me a fortune. Meanwhile my missions are all super hard and I need maneuver nodes before I can do them to be able to unlock... maneuver nodes. So what kind of tricks do people have to manage this? or does everyone just download mods to skip this challenging part of the career?

I read a post saying you could unlock most of the tech tree by just achieving a polar orbit around Kerbin and doing science. But I've achieved polar orbit and I can only do basic science for "being in orbit over Kerbin". No matter what biome I'm over it doesn't make a difference. Is it because I'm at 90,000 meters? Do I need to dip down into the atmosphere for each pass? If so, do I get new sets of science readings for each blue tinged bar in the atmospheric zone? Thanks for the help!

When my rocket rotates I get all confused about which WASD I should be hitting to control my direction. So is there an option to have rocket control work relative to your view instead of always being hard-locked to the compass? Or is there a mod that will do this? Or some easier way to do this? Maybe keep the view always locked to the same orientation? Thanks for the help!

Because I need brakes, I have to use those awful LY-01 tires for my twin wheels under my wings. The problem is they bounce around, but if I turn down springs, then the craft wobbles left and right until it tips as it gains speed. I know there's got to be some kind of friction, spring, damper settings that should work but I'm not sure how to go about tweaking these. Thanks!

Thank you so much for answering. I had no idea that's how it worked as all this time. I'd been assuming SVE was planet texture views from extreme orbit. So should I be seeing clouds over Kerbin then with SVE? I will have to check to see if I actually saw them in latest KSP (which I know may not be fully supported yet). Once again, thanks for taking the time to answer me. I feel dumb asking some of the questions I do, and I know as a modder it can get annoying. -
I came across this mod, and having been out of KSP for years I am unsure of where the scanning tech stands in default KSP. If you turn on a scanner do you instantly see the entire biome map of the planet, or do you need to sweep your scanner acroos the world lanwmower style to get the data? Because if it insta-scans still then I need to use this mod. If it is like this mod now, then I won't need to use it. Thank you!

I have installed SVE with the highest res textures via CKAN. Do I still need to install Stock Visual Terrain as well? I am playing on latest version of KSP (I know it's technically not supported yet but it works fine for this version). I'm not sure if the high res textures I installed are the same as in Stock Visual Terrain. and if I instgall SVT if it would over-write the beautiful high rest textures for SVE. Thank you! -
So I'm sorry if this is a stupid question from a dummy, but is the Planetshine on CKAN the latest and greatest, or do I need to go to github to get the latest? NM I figured it out. It is latest version. Thanks!
