  1. Greetings @PulsarPixie, and welkome to the kozy konfines of the Kerbal kommunity, the finest bunch of earthlings I have ever had the pleasure of conspiring with!
  2. And if you buy the same model of espresso machine (since it seems to have served you well), you’ll have a cache of spare parts...
  3. Those AAA games typically cost $80 CAD, which is roughly in line with the exchange rate. Yeah, it’s a big chunk, and I’ve played KSP long enough to wonder if I can get the same number of hours out of KSP2, simply due to game burnout. I’ve already taken some breaks from the game (but not the forum), usually while waiting for a big update. Nonetheless, it’ll be on my wish list, and I’ll happily pay full price when I have the to spare. Of course, even better if a sale comes along before I shell out full price
  4. Is there a thread for this already? I don’t think so.... So the West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington state, and British Columbia) is poised to adopt DST permanently, pending congressional approval. Sounds great, not having to change clocks twice a year, with the ensuing traffic havoc caused by sleepy drivers and sudden lighting changes My only question is, why stay on DST? Shouldn’t it stay on Standard Time, so that the Sun is at its highest at “high noon”? After all, AFAIK that’s how noon is defined, when the Sun is at its highest point in the sky. Does anyone know a good reason for being on permanent Daylight Saving Time, so the Sun is at its highest at 1pm?
  5. I don’t see why something could not have an extremely fast orbit (probably have to go plaid) inside the event horizon, IF it can withstand the ludicrous tidal forces. But we would never know it’s there, since not even light can escape the event horizon. But I’m not an astrophysicist.
  6. There's lithobraking, and then there's lithobreaking. The former stops your craft; the latter breaks it.
  7. My understanding is that when TTI bought the IP, they yanked all official merchandise. It's now evident that work on KSP2 started soon after TTI took over. It's been said in at least one of the various Star Theory dev interviews (I don't want to look for the reference right now) that merchandise will be coming back. So it's likely that the plan is to release new Kerbaltm merchandise modeled after the "new look" kerbals in KSP, along with whatever other items from KSP2 that they wish to bring to market.
  8. About the only advantage I can see to mining a hi-gee world is that, depending on size, it could be more dense, implying more (and more pure) metals and less “slag”. Possibly more of the heavier metals too
  9. Throw this in, for completeness, although there's a thread for that...
  10. Okay, I noticed one break from reality in the "space elevator" (or whatever it was?) scene: his EVA suit (which looked like a typical Shuttle launch/entry suit) was all wrinkly, when it should have puffed out when he was in vacuum. Unless it wasn't pressurized, and he had a mechanical counterpressure suit underneath...
  11. There are a couple of questions that occurred to me, that I haven't seen in the dev interview threads: 1. Given "unfocused acceleration" is a thing, will there be orbital decay? At least for objects that dip slightly below atmospheric boundaries? Currently objects with a perikerb of, say, 50km remain on rails. 1a. Will atmospheres even have a boundary? 2. Will construction time be a thing? If these have been already addressed, please steer me there. And mods, if there is already a thread for "moar questions", feel free to merge this thread there. It didn't feel right tacking these onto interview threads that had already happened...
  12. Caves and overhangs could be added features (not actually part of the terrain), in much the same way as the Tylo cave and Mun Arches are in the current KSP. ?
  13. That just makes me wonder what Patty Gurdy and her hurdy could do with that song... Speaking of whom...
  14. Yeah I’m hooked. I’ll have to wait for the small screen; we blew the entertainment budget on a hockey game... But definitely my kind of movie
  15. If everyone is created equal, then what are they equal to?
  16. Somersaults, hmmm? Off the top of my head, some sensor for determining orientation started hallucinating... Looks like it will rest in pieces, like so many other first landing attempts. Better luck next time! i know it’s early to write it off already, but it doesn’t sound good.
  17. I thought the same thing, and with apologies to Rob Zombie, I’d say it’s more Kerbal than Kerbal....
  18. That just makes we want to build one, but I don’t have the parts or electronics know-how. I’m more of a table-or-circular-saw-and-cordless-drill/driver kinda guy. But I really want a 3D printer, even if I don’t know what I’d do with it.
  19. Only once have a met a brussel sprout I didn’t mind eating. I’m guessing it was lightly cooked, and then it was definitely drowned in heavily salted butter. Otherwise, just the smell is enough to make me pass. And I’ll repeat, broccoli is good as long as it’s not overcooked. Steamed just until bright green, and maybe a minute more, is best. Sour cream, cheese sauce, or even just butter and salt, make it delicious. And even raw is good, dipped in sour cream or ranch dressing
  20. Yeah, my Colecovision never crashed or froze. The cars from that era, however...
