  1. Been doing another CIV6 R&F game, with Tokimune on an inland sea map. It's late game; I just launched an Earth satellite as the first step of the Science Victory endgame, so the tech tree is nearly complete. I notice a tribal village in the frozen wastes and visit it. This gave me the tech boost for..... FUSION? From a tribal village?!? What kind of voodoo has their shaman been playing with???
  2. Hmm, so what would be stronger, Vader’s cybernetic limb attachments (without the Force) or a T-800 endoskeleton?
  3. “There’s a sucker born every minute!” - credit indeterminate https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/There's_a_sucker_born_every_minute
  4. I’ve been meaning to update this thread. I believe it’s an orange tabby cat (kinda peachy coloured). Small head so maybe not as bright as some, but doesn’t seem too dumb. As for concerns about slipping off, a padded seat is recommended for grip, and it’s not a trick for declawed cats to try! He’s doing fine on his mock toilet so far. A week ago I tried the next step of burying a small container of water in the litter, but he avoided it for two days (got outside at one point so not like he was bursting). So I took that out, and will soon try again with a smaller, shot-glass-sizes container. But first I think I need to turn the seat around so he has to stand on the seat, with no room around it. Slow and steady is the trick. An end to scooping litter is the reward, so no rush if I want to get there.
  5. I see two likely customers for a commercial station: Hotels (tourism) and film studios, for unmatched realism (the novelty factor alone will sell tickets for the first few movies). Logistics depot is another possibility down the line. One thought about power/heat: As many ways to reclaim heat back into power as reasonable (thermocouples and such)
  6. Ah, but there has to be two pieces which makes for a complicated wrap
  7. Most definitely Well, that definition says two slabs of carbs as a container or wrapper...
  8. Oh man, instant flashback to seeing this video on TV back in the early nineties.... and now it's stuck in my head... Edit: nope, not quite clean enough
  9. Hadn’t heard that version before. Nice! Much better video than the original.
  10. Completely overcast. Nothing to see here, please move along...
  11. Tankers and supertankers, when you don't want to have to work out a ten-minute burn. I use them all the time on those
  12. A local Radio station is pushing for daylight savings time to take effect at 4 PM on Friday. So you can imagine how that will work. At 4 o’clock it becomes 5 o’clock and it’s time to go home for the weekend. Yaaaay!
  13. I only know what Spanish I picked up from Dora and my trip to Mejico (Dos cervezas, por favor!) I also did fairly well in high school French, with no opportunity to continue or practice it. If you’re trying to write sentences, then you probably need to memorize how to conjugate the various verbs depending on the the verb’s subject (I am , you are, he/she is, etc), as well as learning the prepositions. That’s my guess at where you’re stuck. Sorry, there’s no lazy way to learn a language aside from being immersed in it.
  14. Good plan. I hope you found or were referred to a good one. Two-four visits is normal to make sure things stay where they’re put, depending how long things were out, but you should NOT have to go back every week or so indefinitely. It may not fix your issue, but it’s a simple thing to try
  15. Like any profession, there are good chiropractors and bad ones. If there’s no improvement after a couple of visits, then a chiropractor isn’t the solution, and a good one will tell you that. A bad one will keep you coming back. Some are much rougher than others Depending on how long something has been out of whack, your ligaments and tendons can try to return a joint to that out-of-whack spot. They need a few “reminders” to remember where the proper position is and hold the joint there. I had issues with the sacro-iliac (?) joint where the spine joins the hips. Chiropractor fixed it and showed me the stretch that fixes it every time it acts up.
  16. On the fifth day of Khristmas my dear kerbal gave to me: Fiiiive Maaammoth Enginesss! Four static boosters, three models of Kerbin, two NERVA engines and one snack box that they made empty
  17. Looks like they mounted the test rig in a shipping container. Always nice to see new controlled-explosion startups coming along
  18. Yeah, but as pointed out upthread, the big trick is turning that blueprint into a pyramid 147m high on a base that is 230m on a side. A big part of that is sourcing the materials and getting them on site
  19. Hmm, Friday calls for overcast, with a three minute appearance at 0527 local time. I’ll have been at work for half an hour at that point, with decent sightlines from the yard. Hope the weather clears up, and hopefully it’ll be in a flaming re-entry state by that point (D2, not the station). I wonder how far ahead or behind the ISS it’ll be...
  20. Hmm, I’m just a little north (like 0.1 degree) of Sumas, WA, I wonder if I’ll be able to see it. Will it have even started to re-enter at that pint?
  21. "I want to make a flying tank!" "Hah! when pigs fly!" "Any other objections?"
