The Duna window opened today. Three launches today. A com sat. A combined surveyor and coms sat. And a Probe. The probe will land on Duna and collect great gobs of science which it will the stuff into an Experiment Storage Box and then the box will detatch and return to Kerbin. Meanwhile the part left on Duna will provide periodic assistance with communications as a coms relay. More pics as the missions progress.

totm may 2024 [1.12.x] - Modular Kolonization System (MKS)
Daveroski replied to RoverDude's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Can't you use the Local Logistics widget for that? -
Or perhaps their current address is International Space Station?
-
Or ,like me, you could wait for the 'none of the above' option.
-
Having never had the pleasure to visit either of these locations and so have no idea what either is 'like' perhaps you could enlighten me regarding the differences between the two and perhaps why one may consider that one would be like the other ?

Career, simulations, finishing game
Daveroski replied to Cassel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
While this is very different from receiving unsolicited screen-dumps from 'friends' ,I will respond. Some people take a dump on the floor and call it art. That doesn't make it right or a good thing. Perhaps they watch because the would like to be able to play the game themselves but lack the ability and so play vicariously through the streamer. Perhaps they can play so much better than the streamer that they find it amusing to watch someone else flap about. Perhaps that have nothing better in their lives to occupy them. Perhaps they watch to learn how to play. But either way, they go to the site by choice and watch by choice. They watch someone who can only be seen if the viewer wishes to see them. They are not receiving notifications from 'friends' saying "Oooo look what I did in my game aren't I special?" Just my opinion of course. -
Career, simulations, finishing game

No. Just No! For the last 3000 hours of play I haven't even been connected to steam while I play. I certainly wouldn't want it connected to anything else, least of all that. Why would anyone want a picture from a game someone else is playing? Many people may already send such rubbish to everyone on their 'friend' list but who in their right mind would actually want to receive any? So just to reiterate NO. -

How to complete docking training?
Daveroski replied to port513's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
First practice getting as close to your target as possible with your engines. You are aiming for a distance of around 100m. Now to learn to dock. It may be easier if you right click each RCS thruster and turn off Roll Yaw and Pitch. Now rotate your ship so that it is in line with the docking port of the target. It doesn't matter if the docking port is behind you, off to one side, above or below you. By rotating your ship now to facing the right direction, you will only have to concentrate on moving the ship up down left right back and forward. Here's the thing. Don't get ahead of yourself. Don't rush. That means go VERY slowly. For every second you fire your RCS in any direction you have to fire it for the same amount of time in the opposite direction to stop. Pick a direction and move in that direction. Then stop. Use short controlled bursts. Keep the burst uniform in length, that way when you fire three or four bursts you can remember that you will need the same number of bursts in the opposite direction to stop. Don't turn your ship until you have stopped (relative to your target). When you make a mistake and thrust in the wrong direction, think about how to correct the mistake before you act. Doing it this way, you shouldn't have to rotate your ship in any direction until you are almost facing the docking port. Approach the port at around 0.2m p/s The magnets will help when you get in range. Try not to fight them. So take your time, be patient. Rotate your ship so that it will be in line with the port when you move your ship there. (may be easier to turn RCS off for rotation and only use SAS). Use only up/down/Left/Right/Backwards and Forwards RCS for movement. Short controlled bursts. (if a burst lasts longer than the time it takes to say "spurt" it's too long.) Happy docking -
Humans are doing a really shoddy job of keeping the earth alive. What ever makes you think that humans could bring life to another world? That would be a "No."

Rockets exploding with version 1. 3
Daveroski replied to RW1984's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I didn't report it because I'm playing a modded game. Same bug. ANY vessel which doesn't explode without a fairing shouldn't explode with one. If it does it's bugged. I may think that your method of play is a bit daft because it is different to mine, BUT what I think of your method of play is not relevant. Bottom line is if it can be launched without one, it should be able to be launched with one. -

[Minimum KSP version - 1.11] Kerbal Attachment System (KAS) v1.12
Daveroski replied to IgorZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
If you missed the pile of tripe I posted and then sneakily deleted out of shame, too bad. Normally I would be quite happy to let others learn from my mistakes and would leave the post untouched for all to point and laugh at, however as this could be actual proof that I'm losing it, it has to go. So to those of you who witnessed my blatant stupidity and failure, all I can say is, after a re-think and a few slaps to the face and body. I can confirm that my head is indeed a shed. -
How do you do gravity assists?
Daveroski replied to zxv_3815's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Often, while transferring to Jool, I use Tylo so that I can get a Jool orbit without burning at all. I used to use Jool's atmosphere to slow down but when it changed so that touching the atmosphere caused your ship to die, I had to find another way. Gravity assist works well for me. -

Seeking suggestions on Duna ISRU operations
Daveroski replied to boccelounge's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The rover only has a very small fuel tank to catch any excess while warping. ALL the fuel is mined refined and transferred after docking to the landed vessel. The rover's fuel tank can be empty with no detriment to the rover and it means that you are not driving around moving fuel. -
