Hey man, even activists have the right to undertake hobbies.
-
As mentioned - all OS X users can take action - not just a pledge!
-
Ok, I'm not telling you that you can. I am only telling you that I have. ;-) There is a post somewhere that details to the steps to edit the contents of the ksp executable, delete the unity 32bit bits and install the unity 64bit bits, along with a few other bits. If I can find it, I will post a link... In a bit.
-
Having hacked the 64bit Mac OSX KSP version, I'm flying fine. Running RO/RSS with about 50 mods and no crashes or hangs since conversion more than a month ago. 1.1 64bit will have to hit a high mark of reliability for me to use it as my base install at this point (Throws SCO Unix 3.5" floppies in bin... Cries...)

NEVER MIND: Mr. Idiot (Me) found the wiki entry late last night. All is well.

Well, I've just finally installed RO, RSS, RF, etc. and it seems to work! Woot! Engine packs, etc. all seems fine now. I think my original install was somehow corrupted so a very precise Quality Assurance process (Basically keeping track of what I installed and in what order helped - basically just following ALL the instructions) seemed to do the trick. Now my ONLY question and I'm sure it's already been raised buy others -> I'm running on low texture detail (as recommended somewhere I can't remember) so half of KSC is under the surface. Am I missing a setting somewhere? When I used high detail, I couldn't land on the moon - always going through the surface. Can someone recap any recommended settings? Apologies, but I can't find anything "easy to find" that addresses this. :-) Other than that, this RO/RSS/RF setup looks absolutely fantastic! Thank you to ALL!!!

Thanks for the clarification Nathan, I've taken in all the original post bits and pieces in my original install - which ended up problematic. My intention as stated is to conduct a complete reinstall (I'll note my steps and any issues as they occur) and post the results good or bad. Sadly work interferes with such endeavours at the moment - perhaps the weekend (one lives in hope).

124 pages of updates and conversations that I have read thru (albeit sometimes very rapidly)... So much information... Is there an updated FAQ to specify exactly what mod packages (combos etc.) work and what do not with real fuels? Do I install Solverengines or not? Do I need procedural tanks etc. ? Sadly, I'm just beginning the journey of trying to install this thread of mods and I'm a bit frustrated at the moment. Just want to be exactly sure I'm installing the correct set of mods in the correct order - and I'm finding it difficult to understand the current situation. For example - is the header record in this thread the source of ALL current information regarding installation or not? Not sure where to begin... Apologies if this is a bit boring for those who are fully versed in the intricacies of real fuels and specifically apologies to NathanK ;-) but, this user (me) finds it difficult to install this string of mods correctly without clear(ish) instructions in one post. Not complaining here, just asking nicely for clarity... Thanks in advance for your kindness and support. For example, questions I am trying to answer: Why is it necessary for me to manually calculate the exact ratio of a new selection of fuel:oxidiser for an engine? Or, why do Fuel cells not seems to be already reconfigured to operate from LH2:LOX (as they should) rather than the amorphous stock"LiquidFuel". Inquiring minds... etc, etc, etc, ;-) EDIT: I seem to have fixed something (I know not what) wherein I am now able to reveal a GUI for either the engine or the tank (not both at the same time) - I assume this is normal? Yet for the life of me I CANNOT seem to figure out how to get ALL RCS blocks to run from Hydrazine. Grrrrr... Specifically the RV-105 RCS (wherein the GUI never seems to pop up with anything in it), whereas the "place anywhere" thingy seems to work fine. EDIT 2: Check that - no repeatable behaviour I can see. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But never with a RV-105 RCS. Going to reinstall everything from scratch (assuming the instructions are correct) and try again, If it fails to work after that, then I will abandon RSS and Realfuels altogether. I'm not in the mood for patching mods myself.

Multi-monitor is not the issue. It's having the ability to pop out various windows and have them float rather than be in the same window as the flight. Give me this.

[1.3.0] Kerbal Engineer Redux 1.1.3.0 (2017-05-28)
Wallygator replied to cybutek's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This update is the next best thing to 1.1 THANK YOU! -
The earliest versions of Kerbal Space Program
Wallygator replied to KasperVld's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This was a really great thing to do. Thank you kasper, and everyone who helped pull it together. Just when I finally cracked getting RSS to run on my Mac... Now I am FORCED to partition my drive to run a Windows instance so I can load these jewels. Ack! -
Looking for a Lunar Rover (Apollo)
Wallygator replied to seyss's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
You might consider installing infernal robotics and making one yourself. My try at it last year yielded a compact folding rover that fitted well within the space of a quad structural panel. Only thing is you can't mimic the folding seats. Kind cool otherwise. Sadly I deleted it. -
OK I'll add another... Fix the manner in which the TR-38-D connects with the 3.75m Heat Shield. This is a "node issue" that permeates many parts in the stock game. Carelessness Devs, Carelessness!!!! (OK it's not something to "add". Unless fixing proper node attachment is actually adding something, otherwise its ADDING a fix) Ack! Ack! Ack! (Please pardon my Mars Attacks! reference.)

(Briefly, pops head out of protective "Protective escape capsule") Uhhh... when the marketing "company" published a game, then they also became a "game publishing company". Just saying'...

I feel compelled to present my dissenting party point of view. As an OSX user, I have pretty much abandoned all hope (Queue clip from Space: Above and beyond please...) regarding the concepts of KSP performance. I have now placed myself into a conceptual "protective escape capsule" that can only be opened when performance has improved - and whilst inside, I have retain no expectations that such performance will ever exist. Naturally, I have accepted the crap performance I must live with and therefore demand more content to keep me occupied and entertained until someone brings a "KSP performance improvement hatchet" and cracks open my conceptual "protective escape capsule". Thank you and rep in advance to the entity that performs this action. And finally, to quote a once great entertainer, "Goodnight Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are."

Since the globe has been enjoying nearly a generation of "everlasting war" it's not difficult to understand that an entire generation has been "gifted" with a sense of "war as entertainment" seeing as it's glorified in the media so much, so often and so well. This does not mean KSP has to share a common denominator. You can weaponise just about anything these days and even more likely get a government contract to do it. So... I say, "Just say no" to a weaponized KSP, and together strive for a peaceful Kerbin as an example for the real world. PS> YMMV and you can do what you want with your own save, no one is tracking what you do. Oh, sorry... Yes they are.

I'm "finally" running 64bit KSP on OSX and its markedly better in all respects. Looking forward for it to be properly included in the distribution so I can "come in from the cold" and have support.

I am officially confused now. Is there a train? Who's driving it? What does it run on? Is there hype or is there no hype? Or is this pre-hype? And if so, is it an entire train or just a switching engine moving about the yard making it "look like" there is a hype train being assembled? These questions must be answered.

This looks really cool. Fab!

Congratulations. Are your Kerbals still stuck on Mun? Your recap leaves me slightly confused. Regardless, sounds like you had a good time.

This^^^ When debris whacks an active vessel, then I will initiate a space debris management programme. Till then let Don Kessler pen a few more papers for the Kerbals to ignore ;-)

I Did It! (First Orbital Docking) The Sense of Accomplishment!
Wallygator replied to Elway358's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Well done! And congratulations!!!! I recall my first docking. I was on a conference call for hours while working from home - when better to have KSP running! The conference call was 3 hours (IT Incident, blah blah blah lucky to only last 3 hours...) my docking manoeuvre took nearly as long. In the end I was in a slight cold sweat after I finally attained a hard dock along with the expected exclamations (Thank goodness for mute), and failed to respond to a few final questions over the phone line - had to admit that I was slightly distracted by another "activity". Ha! Good Times. Good times. -
Humans. Yes. Likely Meri-kans with a highly weaponised space programme destined to create and sustain an exceptional-istic galactic neoliberal hegemony... Opps... sorry I was channelling my inner Chkomsky there... (Cracked myself up on that one, really.) But seriously and on topic even more: NO.

I just want to say how awesome everyone is!
Wallygator replied to eberkain's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I am not so awesome. Still, I try to be nice and help when I can.
