  1. It's strange that pre 1.0 is considered nostalgic these days ;-) But that's cool. I drank the cool-aid with .21 (I think it was .21... was there a .21?) I recall "science spamming" as it became a very strange and necessary dance for every mission. I don't miss that.
  2. This was a pretty amazing personal effort. Really. You should not feel sad. Very well done, sir. Well done indeed!
  3. Optimist? ;-) If the general population of the forum never changes, then I would agree with you. However, the forum continues to grow and change, and in my opinion new people should have the privilege of highlighting their joys as well. The thread will not last all that long - and there have been seriously worse topics threaded in the past... Let's run with it for a few minutes. On Topic: I've only seen it once.
  4. So you have been at this since early December and no comments? Hmmm... here's my comment: Well done! I find it entertaining. Anyone who puts this amount of time into such a series deserves a good pat on the back - or at least a kerbal snack. It takes a lot of work, editing and commitment ;-) sorry I did not find this earlier. Keep up the good effort.
  5. Well, since you backed everything up I suggest you just try it. Assuming this file you speak of is the GOG analogue for the KSP file mentioned. Let us know the results of your experiment.
  6. I just implemented this. Seems to work fine. At least KSP shows up as 64bit in activity monitor. I think my frame rate has increased slightly, but that is impression only. So until 1.1 comes, I will now run 64bit OS X Unity. Thanks for this! EDIT: 23 hours later and it's running fab! Thinking of finally trying eve, and other visual enhancements. I feel like I've been liberated from a memory prison.
  7. Yes, it's not much of an article. "Article" is a stretch actually. I am confused as to whether we are commenting on the article or the context of the article. Either way it makes for a good discussion.
  8. Its OK fro your friend to have his/her/its own definition, but there is a dictionary... ;-) FYI: I like your avatar
  9. We are talking about a GAME not a real space mission. Still, I respect your opinion. However, I suggest anyone who thinks space is mundane should talk to or read about a REAL astronaut or Cosmonaut, I would expect they would not in any bit of their recollection of any actual space mission use the word "Mundane". Also, things go wrong because the player screws up either during the mission or during mission design. AND>>> Things also get exciting when everything works according to plan! ANDAND>>>Kerbal skill level DOES NOT equate to player skill level - just in case there was any confusion. ANDANDAND>>> Wait a minute... If I design and execute a mission wherein everything works perfectly so much that I experience little stress - then wow, mundane is actually a good thing from my player perspective.
  10. Mundane means Dull. KSP is a sandbox game. A sandbox game is structured based on how a player approaches it. An imaginative player will create an imaginative game experience. A mundane player will create a mundane game experience. If a sandbox game is dull, then the person playing it is dull. Simples. The game play reflects the player. That said, there are elements of "Career Play" which are grind and a bit boring - however, a creative player can easily find ways to enhance the play regardless. Articles like this one mentioned, just really speak to a lazy and unengaged media shill professional.
  11. No worries, I didn't quote you. Still I do not support the OP. No to 1.337!!!!
  12. I think someone needs to start checking the urban dictionary more often... better instead label it 1.336 because hotfix.
  13. I do not want to hear that the do not suggest list had grown so long and yet so vague that we do not have any ability to suggest anything.
  14. Not over engineered for an rss mission... Well done! I've not restarted my rss instance as of yet. Looking forward to 1.1 to make it do. Nice mission!
  15. Well done. Congrats! I was expecting the last pic to have a caption of "Not burning."
  16. Everything about KSP is cheating. Unless you are actually building a real rocket in your garage (Elon you know who you are!) then its all a big cheat. I admit I'm a cheater. It's been 2 hours since I last cheated.
  17. That was pretty cool. Well done! Too bad about your nuclear engine core. Better launch another one
  18. build big as in tall or build big as in wide? judicious but not over-strutting it good. One assumes we are talking sandbox - still, pictures and a specific mission profile would be helpful.
  19. Wow! Nice recap and a heck of a lot of dedication!!! Well done sir, very well done indeed!!!
  20. In my simple world I replaced the word 'contract' with 'quest', vomited a few times and then reverted to all sandbox play.
  21. Not to mention his fuel lines were reversed. Oh well.
  22. Your recaps grant me the ability to avoid the frustration of watching. Bless you my son, bless you indeed!
  23. Players sculpt their craft using parts in many ways, and we sculpt our individual ksp implementations using mods. Unless squad implements a "cheat catcher" protocol and announces what actually is cheating, then the use of the word "cheating" is an empty concept. Its a sandbox game!
  24. I think this report is good and likable because of a few things: 1) it's new and fresh in contrast to some of the long standing reports ("long standing reports" should be used lightly here because they sometime seem more like novels - that's not a bad thing, just an observation) 2) Sirad's interpretation is Apollo-ish enough and he has used a very interesting and cool looking design 3) it's concise, easy to read, plus the screen shots are clear and well framed just my two pence.
