This is fortunate I suppose, because we’re not done porting from 4.6, but the things we haven’t touched yet will not be needing double work, we can port them right into 5.1, that is of course assuming there were changes to that particular area from 5.0 to 5.1 . One area that we have already been working on and changed further in 5.1 are physics joints, so those will now require a bit more work, but it doesn’t look quite as bad.</p></blockquote><p><b>Max (Maxmaps)</b><br/></p><blockquote><p>And again I’m in the position where I can’t really share what I’m working on businesswise except for the fact that it’s pretty cool and it won’t be too long til you learn some of it. Other than that, the Gamer’s Edition came out as well as the GoG summer sale! It’s always fun working with new partners, exposing yourself to their corporate culture and viceversa. 1.0.3 experimentals have been doing well, and there’s a big chance we’ll see an extra bit thrown into it as a way to thank you all for your patience.</p></blockquote><p><b>Ted (Ted)</b> <br/></p><blockquote><p>It’s been another rather slow week with the developers still enjoying some well deserved R&R. I’ve been continuing with my production duties as well as assisting the Experimental Team with 1.0.3, putting in some smaller changes/fixes in the downtime as well as something rather brilliant from RoverDude - a smaller feature but one that should prove very useful for all. (I’ll leave it to him to spill the kerosene on that one!)</p></blockquote><p><b>Kasper (KasperVld)</b><br/></p><blockquote><p>I can imagine it’s been a calm week at the office with the development of the game taking a pause after months of frantic work. The franticness of the community never stops however, and I’m glad it didn’t this week either. I’ve been moving forward on the forum upgrade to IPS 4 since it was released, and though we don’t have anything definitive yet it’s looking like the IPS suite offers everything we need. </p><p>I’m very happy to see KSP did really well during the GOG.com Summer Sale, reaching #3 in the best selling list. Because of this it’s now part of the highlights and you can get it at 25% off for a little while longer at <a href="http://www.gog.com/game/kerbal_space_program">http://www.gog.com/game/kerbal_space_program</a>. </p><p>This week we’ve also seen the Gamer’s Edition offer go live (<a href="https://www.gamersedition.com/">https://www.gamersedition.com/</a>) and of course the lovely people at Sketchfab made it possible to import .craft files (<a href="

">
</a>) on their system, allowing you to share craft files in 3D! *poke* *nudge* Katateochi, perhaps KerbalX could use this?</p></blockquote><p><br/></p><hr><p><i>Felipe (HarvesteR), Mike (Mu) and Jim (Romfarer) are enjoying the second week of a well earned vacation. Danrosas was stuck in meetings.<br/></i></p>

No dev notes from RoverDude?

RoverDude is a contractor, historically they do no participate in the devnotes... but the door has been opened so... RoverDude where are you? I want all the juicy stuffs.

Finally an OpenGL update, the 2.1 spec they've been locked to up to now is (graphically) ancient. I wonder what the HLSL update will offer for Mac/Linux users?

RoverDude, what is this Kerosene Ted speaks of?

Awesome, looking forward to seeing what 1.0.3 bring us!

I (very recently) added Sketchfab support to KerbalX! You can now display the 3D viewer in the same way as you can here with sketchfab tags;

ie: [/noparse]

luizopiloto suggested this a couple of weeks ago, here's one of his craft with a sketchfab rendering http://kerbalx.com/luizopiloto/Lear-98

That's an aesthetic thing really, plus it doesn't really seem up RoverDude's (colonisation/resources) alley either?

RoverDude doesn't have to say a word, forum curiosity is adding plenty of fuel to the fire ;)

I would keep my expectations in check however: "an extra bit" or "small feature" is probably exactly that: not a game-changer, or massive overhaul.

ps, nice devnote title. I had a feeling we were being set up for this, last week ;)

heh, I thought my ears were burning.

It's a small thing - but super cool, and thrilled we were able to get it green lighted for 1.0.3 - it's something I had been tinkering with in anticipation of a future release, but I'm pretty pleased with where it landed, and have been doing a ton of personal playtesting in my own save for the past month or so. I think folks will be pleased.

Oh... and there was a hint in that previous statement. Let the speculation begin.

Something to do with heat then?

Sound overhaul!!!! Maybe?

Yeah, sounds like a dedicated radiator part, which makes sense since the game is currently sorely lacking in one. Not exactly anything to get excited about, but sure beats the whole "use solar panels for cooling" thing :)

If his "previous statement" is this: "heh, I thought my ears were burning." Then it's probably sound or heat related.

If it's "It's a small thing - but super cool, and thrilled we were able to get it green lighted for 1.0.3 - it's something I had been tinkering with in anticipation of a future release, but I'm pretty pleased with where it landed, and have been doing a ton of personal playtesting in my own save for the past month or so. That "green lighted" is interesting, as is "but I'm pretty pleased with where it landed".

This grammar mistake is a bit strange: "It's a small thing - but super cool, and thrilled we were able to get it green lighted for 1.0.3".

"but super cool" Also hints at a heat related feature.

Ah, but this: "it's something I had been tinkering with in anticipation of a future release" and this: "and have been doing a ton of personal playtesting in my own save for the past month or so." Hints that he/she's been working on it for a while.

He said it was in the previous statement, which means it can't be in that first sentence, it has to be in this part:

It's a small thing - but super cool, and thrilled we were able to get it green lighted for 1.0.3 - it's something I had been tinkering with in anticipation of a future release, but I'm pretty pleased with where it landed, and have been doing a ton of personal playtesting in my own save for the past month or so. Unless RoverDude wasn't being strictly literal.

*gasps*

Moho heat? Maybe?

A very fancy looking radiator then? :)

You could be right there, as art aside, a radiator is like a ten-minute config file job as far as I know. Also not certain if Squad would hype something that simple, as while I've come to temper my expectations a great deal when they start dropping hints, doing so about something that mundane seems a bit much.

I'm skeptical about it being something heat related. He'd been waiting up until a few days ago for Nertea's Heat Control plugin to get done as he stated he wanted it as a dependency for MKS. I bet its something to do with one of his existing mods.

It's landing site approximation

now this would be very cool.
