[WIP] Coatl Aerospace ProbesPlus Dev Thread [Beta] 10/19/2020 (1.8-1.10)

RoverScience was definitely having this issue, so I would suggest you check there first. Remove it and test it. Make sure you are running the latest version and keep in mind that the mod is beta for KSP 1.2 since it is not out yet. If RoverScience is not the culprit, let me know and post up a log file to see if can get to the bottom of it.

Also, parts from my mod using DMagic modules won't work in 1.2

Good luck!

Don't know if this is your mod or what; but I am running a backup of 1.1.3.  Everything worked fine even after the 1.2 update.  I downloaded you awesome mod; and now whenever I fly a mission or such, I try and revert to launch, recover vessel or go to spacedock, nothing happens.  I click the buttons and I am stuck.  I can't even back out of the game.  I have to go to desktop and do a reset and I loose current save.

Yous was the last one I downloaded (or was it rover science...?) so I was just checking...  Thanks.  will look into rover science and see if that was the one.

Yeah it was rover science.  Please in you infinite grace, forgive this lowly space traveler mercy for accusing you of error...

Haha. No worries. I'm just happy I knew what it was. I've been working on parts for that mod so I was testing it and it happened to me too.

Speaking of which, Ground Ops Rover Science parts when?

The parts for surveyor will be up first. Low-tech Soil Sampler and camera. They'll be done with Surveyor. No rover parts yet though, because *redacted* wheels.

Hello everyone, just though I would pop in and show off a mars mission I did using your parts, so thank you for making those remakes of the stock parts akron! (and also to build the hype for the ground ops pack!)

Dude! That is NICE!

Makes me wonder, should My aeroshell piece just be a fairing instead? huh.

Stream tonight, folks! First hour or two will be spent on RoverScience rocks, then back to... ugh... Surveyor. (It's kicking my butt, very complex UV).

Quick little update. I am trying to work on the mod more often than just during the weekly stream, things may be slow, but they are steady.

I have to take advantage of moments of inspiration, so I lost some sleep to try and get more of Landvermesser/Surveyor knocked out. I've gotten a lot of the UV done and a several bits are fully textured, while some with just a basic coat of paint (Like the solar panel). I am still thinking in the back of my head ans I do the texture how I am going to do the landing gear. I wanted to include them all as one piece. but I realized that this would create too many object entries in Unity and it will get messy. I may instead create attachment nodes on the base so you can attach 3 landing legs to it.

I am excited for KSP 1.2 coming next week, I am going to try and make time to release a patch, pending dependencies to get updated. If everything goes well, I should release the KSP 1.2 patch for P+ alongside the first beta of the lander pack with Landvermesser. There will be a patch in October regardless, even if I have to circumvent dependencies; unless Tiangong-1 falls on my head. Here are WIP renders:

Once 1.2 drops, will some of the antennas with this pack be relays?

Some of them will, if it makes sense for them to. All the dishes probably will, though I am debating if I will on the small static dish for balance reasons. I am also thinking about making a new relay dish with low range for early tech tree. The small antennas will not relay. Nor will Landvermesser's planar array HGA.

Hey folks!

Stream tonight is still a go, but I may cut it a little short. I'll be keeping an eye out for hurricane douche-bag. I'll be concentrating on getting this thing textured once and for all :D

Yes mom. I did my homework (some of it).

I welcome feedback on the current details and the colors I used. I tried to keep it close to stock, grabbing some designs from the Mk2 since they are light colored as well. More to come this weekend, hopefully. The landing gear needs a lot of texture work!

looking great!

Other than the thermal compartments texture (may be less lines) the color is looking good.

Can't wait to launch it!

It will replace my own Surveyor:

You got a nice robot there!

What do you mean the thermal compartment? The two side compartment boxes are designed like the real thing. They have those lines, which are just corrugated sides.

yup, that's NASA fancy name for them, like the thermal compartment in my kitchen where I kept some aluminum cylinders with malted barley beverage. :D

Will the camera be a separate part? Add KIS and KAS, + BDB = Apollo 12!!

Yes, the camera will be a separate part and it will be a new experiment for landing site survey. Something along those lines.

Need to make sure you have Hullcam (& maybe KURS Docking Camera) support for that...

Hmmm... remote camera viewing on an in-orbit "command ship", in IVA, using Hullcam & RPM... ??? :)

Docking cam would be a bit strange for this particular part, but I'll look at the requirements for Hullcam (Assuming it updates to 1.2). There will be a couple more camera parts like that too. At least Viking, probably Venera.

Holy Mother of God. :0.0:

Okay, now that my initial reactions are out of the way...

-Looks like a very nice blend between stock and historical. Instantly part of my initial landing survey missions moving forwards.

-On that point, there's plenty of flat space to pack additional parts along... extra fuel, engines, science experiments, etc.

-Until we get some specs on those engines, I'm assuming they're rated exclusively for Munar/Lunar operations. Perhaps an uprated set for use on, say, Duna/Mars? Just for variety.

-The wide stance of the landing gear, and the low CoM that comes with that, are among my favorite parts of this so far. There's a distinct lack of wide-stance gear, imo, especially in probe-sized versions.
