King Tut may have had a blade 'not of this world'

Recommended Posts

When i was a kid i had collected meteroites when mowing grass in my neighborhood. I collected couple mayonaise jars full of them. Some areas there was a meteorite every square foot or so, they tended to pop up after severe storms. They were particularly common on soil that had never been turned.

I used to use them as shot for my wrist rocket, lol. what an intelligent use of uncommon items.

That's cool, I assume you saw Meteor showers often.

Never. Never saw one meteor fall or hit a roof, I assume that the activity of the animals on the property pushed them out of the ground.

[ancient Egypt on]
What is "iron"? His knife is made of strange hard and shining thing, but not a copper.

*cue plethora of uneducated conspiracy theories about Egyptians being able to mine asteroids*

That's pretty cool, though. I didn't know they had a particular use for meteorite iron. Thanks for sharing!

Odds are the blade was forged from a recently fallen meteorite. The Egyptians may have thought it was from a god (maybe Osiris), so they created a knife out of a chunk of it for the most sacred man living at the time: King Tut.

Ooooh, I have to say you had me there for a sec. I actually thought this was some pseudoscience thread and was wondering why it hasn't been locked yet.

That's actually cool though. Given there are like hundreds of kilos of meteorites falling into the atmosphere every hour, I see no reason why a king shouldn't have one of those godly pieces himself.
