[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech

@Sigma88 I just tried your suggestion. I put a copy of KSP into my games folder and put in only OPM and its essentials. It got hung up again with only OPM and its essentials installed in a clean install. This confirms to me, that modularflightintegrator.dll is the culprit here. As to WHY I am having this issue I could not even begin to guess. but, here is the output log.

@AlamoVampire How long do you wait before you terminate the game?

Kopernicus has to generate the ScaledSpace meshes for the planets, this process is rather slow and expensive, depending on your computer. KSP will not respond during this process. It happens between the Loading Scene and the MainMenu. So, if the game hungs up after the loading bar reached its end, just leave it running. It will respond again when the process is finished. The meshes get cached, so future launches will be faster. Also, dont try to interact with it during the export. If it doesnt respond, Windows will kill it. Dont touch the PC or dont use fullscreen. :)

Also, removing MFI indeed stopped the Lag, because Kopernicus wont load without MFI and therefor it cant export anything. Pretty simple, even for someone who cant code. :wink:

How would I get an atmosphere for my planet? I'm making a gas giant, and so far the atmosphere is the only thing I can't get. Everything else works fine, I've been using a temporary atmosphere from Kopernicus Examples, but how would I make a custom one?

Ok, I'm kinda posting for a friend. In other words, I want to install a few mods that depend on kopernicus, he does too, but is too lazy to join and ask here himself. So I will try and be as helpful as I can in answering questions. The problem is, we install the mod, such as RSS, or actually half scale RSS. I load, I see a 1/2 scale real solar system with the right names and graphics, etc. He installs it, loads up, see's the stock Kerbal solar system. We've tried deleting and reinstalling the mod, and its requisite kopernicus. Tried clearing all mods and reinstalling them. No change. Looking to compartmentalize the problem, I suggested we try the outer planets mod, since his wants to be stuck with Kerbal. Still doesn't work., but does on mine. The common element here then seems to be kopernicus. We both have the same mods and all. So why is it working on mine but not his?

We run DMP together, so it'd be nice to have an expanded system, or realistic system to mess around with together.

Incidentally, anyone up for doing a Kerbal scale RSS? The half scale allows for some stock scale parts usage, but the kerbal scale would allow us to freely explore the real system with our stock scale parts. Maybe not the place for a serious request, but maybe it'll put a bug in someone's ear. :-)

I have a question about initial rotation of tidally locked bodys. My Moon faces the wrong side to the Earth. Maybe this has to do with Sigma Dimensions.

The config of Moon contains this:

initialRotation = 25

And I am SD with these settings

SigmaDimensions
{
    Resize = 0.57//0.0942
    Rescale = 0.57//0.0942
    Atmosphere = 0.70//0.80
    dayLengthMultiplier = 0.50//0.2500641150892636
}

Does someone has an idea for a suitable initialRotation?

I haven't had much time to look into this but I think one of these numbers should be the correct one

32.88637
17.11363
-17.1139
67.11393

May I ask on which assumption your numbers are based on?

basically

initialRotation defines the rotation of the moon at time zero

but RSS changes the epoc of the moon to be -31542641.784

this means that at the start of the game the moon is not where it is supposed to be at time zero, but it is actually ~31 millions of seconds behind

so you have to figure out the rotation period of the moon ( which is the same as the orbital period since it's tidally locked) in standard RSS

then you need to figure out how many deegrees it rotates in the ~31 million seconds

you need to calculate that for the standard RSS before and for the resized RSS after

and then you figure out how to match the initial rotation. I wasn't sure how to sum/subtract the numbers so I typed out all the combinations I came up with, I'm not 100% those numbers are correct

alternatively you can just change the initialRotation ingame using hyperedit and when you find a number that works put that one in the cfg :wink:

Okay....so setting useOnDemand = false made my extra planets reappear, in both New Horizons and OPM.

But I'm back to the textures being hosed.  I saw some posts a while back about that, I have the yellow and black bars on the new planets.  I'm on Mint 17.1, nvidia-352.  Anyone get this figured out?  Anywhere to start looking?  Any workarounds?  I don't personally care that much about memory usage as long as I stay below maybe 20G total for the game.

Only suspicious thing I see in the log is:

No Kopernicus errors.

Oh, and @The White Guardian, were you asking a while back about planets and moons disappearing at about 62km altitude?  I had that issue, or something similar, way back, may have even been 1.0.5.  I think it was an old mod, perhaps Kittopia Space, that was causing it.  Removing that gave me my surfaces back.

Cheers,

-BS

Have you tried making a copy of your gamedata and transferring it to his computer via a thumb drive?   I also helped develop a stock size rss.   click the link for SSRSS in my signature.

I finally make a planet but! why does it look like this?                                                                                                                  it is supposed to look like this but it only looks like this when im in the tracking station. Can anyone tell me why?

OH and when i add biomes or a Vertex color map it doesn't appear :wink:

You cannot delete posts, but you can edit them. For that, click the 'edit' button next to the 'quote' button, but the edit button only appears in your own posts. You cannot edit stuff made by other users. You can also specify a reason for editing to tell users what you changed in your message.

You can add images by uploading them to Imgur. Next, open the image on Imgur and copy the 'direct link', then paste the link in your message.

As for what you are doing wrong with biomes or VertexColorMap, right now all we can do is just guess at what in the world you're trying to do, give us something to work with when asking for support or we can't help you.

So, could you do the following: in a message, click the 'eye' icon, this should make a spoiler. Within this spoiler, could you paste in the config file of your planet? The spoiler ensures that the message doesn't get super-long, both here and in the inboxes of people who are subscribed to this thread.

The problem I was having was a problem with 0m altitude IIRC, too long ago to remember tbh. Thanks for the help anyways! :)

As Guardian points out, you can't (you can edit your posts, but not delete them).

However, even though you can't delete it yourself, you can get it deleted.  If you have a post that you wish to be deleted, just report your own post (using the "report" link right above it), and type a brief note requesting removal.  That will alert the moderator staff, and we can take care of it for you.

Hi!

I installed kopernicus in order to use Stock Visual Environment and Stock Visual Terrain.

The problem is that I experience a graphical issue and in the SVT thread I was told to write here in the topic related to kopernicus.

In the main menu and when altitude is (I think) greater than about 100km (and I checked only kerbal) I see some kind of yellow "wireframe" texture instead of the correct photorealistic one. Here is a screenshot displaying the problem in the main menu (it is exactly the same in game):

oVhuzcJ.jpg

In the other thread they suspect it is a problem caused by OpenGL.

I use KSP on MacOS 10.11.6.

Thank you!

@Galileo is correct, but I've inspected the PQSMods and do not see any updating of the textures. The color is currently provided by VertexSimplexNoiseColor, which is currently configured to provide a reddish tint in your config. Remove VertexSimplexNoiseColor entirely and instead add:

VertexColorMap
{
	map = FILEPATH
	enabled = true
	order = 9999999
}

Replace FILEPATH with a filepath to your planet's color map.

Also, seeing as you are editing a config made by @KillAshley and seemingly have very little knowledge of Kopernicus (please don't hate me if I'm wrong), may I ask, are you new to Kopernicus modding? Because it seems that you are diving in head-first and know very little of the PQSMods specifically, while the PQS is the most important part of the planet.
