would not call a hard shell taco a sandwich.  I would not call a soft shell taco, or in fact a burrito a sandwich.

Well, a Burrito is actually Spanish for "small donkey" so of course it isn't a sandwich!

Sandwiches are mainly Meat, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion and Mayo.

Tacos are mainly Meat, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion and Salsa.

Are tacos a sandwich and are sandwiches a taco?

GASP!

(probably not, you know cuz a sandwich has two buns and a taco has a tortilla or something but play along)

OMG

You've discovered the taco's greatest secret.

snip very amusing comic.

A long time ago someone told me to bring bread to a large dinner. Like, hundreds of people.

I brought bread.

He then chastised me for bringing bread, and not French bread. "It's like I asked for paper and you brought sandpaper."

"No," I replied, "It's like you wanted sandpaper, and asked for paper."

I have no idea why this comic reminds me of this story, or how it relates to tacos most assuredly not being sandwiches, but there you have it :D

A taco shell is made from a tortilla, which is a type of flatbread,

which is made from flour (if you are a man, woman, or cosmic entity of culture) or corn (if you are my mother), which are noticeablely not bread.

I don't know what you have been eating, but I tend to prefer my bread to be made from some kind of flour, be it wheat, corn, barley, or any kind of not-rye.

Also, cornbread is quite common.

Ever heard of bread made entirely from yeast? Yeah, me neither.

Not sure what point you're trying to convey here.  I've never seen bread made entirely from eggs, either.

My point is that bread isn’t made entirely from flour or corn or rye or buckwheat or millet etc. but a combination, and tortillas are not that same combination.

So there are different types of bread, of which tortillas are a few.

I do make what I call egg loaf.     But that's just fluffy eggs in a pan.  Probably not bread.    But it would make a good sandwich.

My wife makes egg "muffins," with cheese and peppers (mushrooms optional). Good on-the-go breakfast
