Interesting , how many pages long should become this Of Random Wisdom thread, to become relevant for every google question, and to appear on top of every google response?

Isn't that the aim that deserves our efforts?!

My rendition's progress so far, thanks for making me want to paint stuff now. Won't have the ice moon, as this is a somewhat realistic version and ice + three big heat sources = liquid or gaseous dihydrogen monoxide, may have a lava moon

Edited by OrdinaryKerman
added aurorae, shading, gas flowing between the two

Internet with its billions of users has already disproved that obsolete hypothesis.

The 'hypothesis' as you call it requires that the timespan for random character generation be infinite, either that or an infinite number of characters need to be generated. So far:

  • The internet is 'just' about 35 years old, not infinite.
  • in terms of 'major' things like typing and stuff, humans are inherently not random. Unpredictable yes, but not really random as we're driven by our thoughts (which always have some level of coherence)
  • The internet is not infinite. All of human literature is not infinite.
  • In conclusion, disproving that hypothesis requires several trillion sentient beings, all with completely incoherent minds, typing away for several universe-lifetimes. Also it's really a saying, not a hypothesis.

Then we still have a hope.

Unless you're talking about a single option to save this whole thing, then 'hope', being a mental concept, is generally treated as an uncountable noun. So it should be "Then we still have hope", not "a hope".

"I have a dream" <=> "We have a hope"

Isn't it?

'Hope' in that context is usually treated as an intangible concept, while 'dream' is a type of experience. So you can have multiple dreams, but not hopes. Generally. English, being a centuries-old language with little standardization, is complicated. I'm actually not exactly sure when 'hope' is treated as an intangible concept and when it's considered a thought that you can have several of, so I just go by intuition. I'm not a linguist after all, don't take my word as necessarily truth on grammar stuff...

I thought the point was that they were not sentient..... hence monkeys.

Right, here's my rendition of @Souptime's Infernalux A and B:

WAwmIgx.png

The ice moon has boiled off into a faint (but visible) extra-wonky 'ring' that does 8s around both planets. While still not that good, the rings are somewhat passable now.

If any of yall don't have Restock installed, you should be ashamed

I have it for my ''nertea install'', but I don't have it for the others (though my nertea install is by far my favourite and biggest) because restock/nertea's parts look way to good when compared to some mods, so it will look weird
