Yes, I say GIF with a hard G; DEFINITELY NOT "JIF"

Other, more intense pet peeves of mine are :

Turbine pronounced "Tur-bin" (It's "Turr-Buy-Ne" or something. I don't know how to effectively show the pronunciation through text)

Liebherr pronounced "Lee-bear" or "Lee-Berr" (It's Leeb-hair; If you are wondering, Kiebherr is "Keeb-Hair)

Drawer pronounced "Draw" (It's "Droor")

Both Pronunciations are correct, although hard G is more popular.

Tom Scott's cross-check theory is interesting, but if there's more soft-Js in English, then why do more people use a hard G for gif?

When they use the gyro as a gyroscope, it starts sounding /dzh-/.

Btw, that's how the gyroscopes were invented and named.
