Happy eclipse day! For those not in the path or stuck under cloudy weather, you can watch online: https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2023/2023-annular-eclipse-broadcast/

My forecast has been clouds all week, but I woke up to a clear blue sky today! I'm not in the path of annularity, but I'm very excited for a nice partial solar eclipse! I think my last solar eclipse was in 2017, and this time I'll have solar telescopes!

I just saw the eclipse! I didn't have much in the way of specialized equipment, so I did the old hole-in-the-paper trick. It was really neat, especially since usually when there's a historical, once in a lifetime astronomical event, it's on a school day, absurdly late at night, and it's cloudy anyway.

I didn't know what to expect, but it's noticeably dark, not like night-dark but more like dusk-dark. Anything the Sun shined through looked like the eclipse. A really memorable experience!

I posted this elsewhere here but, i got to see full annularity! Also saw my leaves casting similar shadows! I didnt use the eclipse glasses but a full proper solar filter! I got 3 pictures at full annular and in april i will be in path of full totality of the 2024 total eclipse. Weather permitting im breaking my full telescope and camera gear for it!
