Best case scenario for gamers is they give it a skeleton crew and it never gets done. Most sensible financial position is to push what they have to full release and rake in the sales money.

Maybe they gave him a marketing role. He's a fantastic hype generator and salesman. He's a real artist when it comes to people's confidence.

Lol2. There will be no sales after user backlash if they decide on that disastrous PR move. (The backlash is already happening after as much as a rumor).

Anyone still supporting this company or the publisher needs to get a grip. Why the hell would anyone believe Dakota, Nate or Take2 or possibly PD again? Nate is a great used car salesman, but a lousy PR guy or CM.

Dakota is just the CM.  Never blame the CM for what corporate instructs them to say. 

Nate is a great PR guy - look at all the hype KSP2 had at launch!  Will anyone trust him again?  Gamers are notoriously bad consumers, so who knows.  For sure I'd never trust Nate to run a studio again, as he lacks a technical background and has demonstrated he lacks the magic needed to lead an engineering team without an engineering background.

They only would say that they stopped working on it when they are willing to pay out the refunds that would come in.

A corpo saying that they continue development will just keep naive blind fanboys buying, this is just business and nothing else.

Been saying it for a while and will keep doing so. The economics are simple. There is too much untapped revenue with much already invested in it to stop now. Even if they had to contract out the remaining work for 1.0, it would likely be a net financial return for them to finish it compared to canceling.

Friend, when I say that money already spent on development is not factored into the analysis, understand that it's from my formal education in finance, not from conventional wisdom.

They all but shelved the game to work on the other title when it went to EA. No, you won't hear that from them, you'll have to impute it from the data. KSP2 has been sedated in a bed with a tube shoved down it's throat for over a year already. 

Don't double down on failure. They made that mistake once, I can't see them being silly enough to do it again unless it's just for show to pad quarterly reports.

"Working on the game" might just amount to the equivalent of packing it down into boxes and writing a neat little list of what is found in each box, before the boxes are all carted away to storage somewhere. Creating enough documentation that somebody else can pick up the project again, should a buyer ever be found. Then, metaphorically, sweeping the floor, turning the lights off and ensuring that every door is properly shut before leaving the place for the last time.

I'm not sure what to think. I want to have confidence that they'll finish the game or at least make it playable but community trust is still quite low.  I don't think it will be totally canceled, they're in too deep and they have the chance to recoup losses if they actually release it. That being said I doubt we'll get much of the planned features past maybe a buggy version of colonies. I would love to be proven wrong but I'll believe it when I see it.

For anyone willing to accept this in it's best possible meaning (i.e. the game continues development, follows roadmap till release):

If they had 70 people before, and they just fired all of those and barely absorbed Nate and the community team into PD, and with PD not being a developer but a publishing label... right at the time where they'll definitely not be hiring people... What kinda speed do you expect now? What delay do you expect until they get their stuff sorted to continue working? What communication do you even hope to see?

Sure, you and me are both monetarily locked in by this point (thank you based steam god I only paid $3 for this mess), but really, thinking anything but that the game is dead still means, in reality, that the game is 99% dead.

I mean, that’s exactly how Intercept was formed in the first place. It’s happened before.

Intercept Games, not PD. PD picked Star Theory's pitch, whatever they did clearly had issues so they destroyed that and created Intercept Games and reabsorbed some of its employees (middle namagement mostly line Nate or Shana). Add to that the fact that Star Theory came from the destruction of Uber Entertainment, where management also survived after 3 very controversial games. And now we have IG being destroyed but this time at a point where T2 is not looking to hire, at least for now.

Who's left working on the game? Also, if the ST->IG thing took a year of delays and the destruction of the work that was there (allegedly, as people justifying 4 years of delays would like us to think)... what's to say this isn't gonna be another entire year of reorganization and silence with zero work done on the game?

Can't post the image for some reason but I just saw a chart on the games reviews. It's.. hard to look at :P

I don't like the feel of the "response" beyond being purposefully vague it gives off "break up" language.
