No one can compete with that - no matter how better would be the graphics and even the gameplay, it would not be a Kerbal piloting the ships. And this matters. Expand This is so sad… ultimately though, when does a game that has minimal value to an investment company with a paid forum become valuable? Eventually the long-term gain will turn to long-term pain. Anyways, if the forums do shut down in however many days, I will lurk in the subreddit for ksp. (Possible) farewell, brave kerbonauts! ColdJ
Time to be serious for a sec. If @Vanamonde or @Deddly don't speak up and tell us that everything is going to be alright, because of an NDA or because they just don't know. I am going to assume the worst and say it will all be over in a few days. Why the new owners wouldn't tell us either way I can't fathom, as keeping on the good side of a dedicated community would only be beneficial to any future projects. So, goodbye to all you people who have come together, and been part of one of the most unique forums that have ever existed. Good luck in your future endeavours. May your Kerbals live long and prosper, May the four be with you always.
AlamoVampire
The reaper is in the wings. I would say at this point speculation is over. If I recall 6 months ago we knew more well before this close to the precipice. The silence speaks volumes. What it says is sadly we have run out of track. I am of mixed feelings about this. I have been here since August 2013. I will miss a bunch of yall. DeadJohn
Is there any evidence the new owners (an unnamed subsidiary of Haveli) even know this forum exists? I haven't followed all of the threads discussing the status of the forums. AFAIK the new owners have never posted to officially say hello. And they are definitely not in communication with the moderators. Look at the "staff" page for this forum. Nate Simpson, Dakota, Nertea, etc. are still listed as staff. Moderators have said the owners have to authorize changes to the staff list and they have no one to contact.

Royale37
Well I guess we at least have the preservation project or whatever it's called so we can have all the old mods I guess. And the subreddit.

ColdJ
The forum is the school library, Reddit is the biker bar. But at least you can still get some idea of what is happening. Maybe if all the polite people go there we can gentrify it.

Expand They warned P.D. personal in advance to "explore new job opportunities" at the time they took over the Company, so we have precedent that they would at least warn people before kicking their butts through the door. Of course, they would tell them to keep their mouths shut, what may suggest that they told them anything about, as we can see below: On 3/23/2025 at 7:29 PM, Vanamonde said: You guys know as much as we do at this point. Expand Again, I may be wrong, but it's not 50%/50%. We have precedent otherwise, I still think at least about 60 to 70% of me being right (depending of my mood at the time of measurement ). BUT... In a way or another, the Forum Preservation Project is running on full steam (where "full" is the most I can without getting their firewall hanging me by the balls - being kicked at this time is plain stupid, I may be wrong after all and it would incur on lost of content), Edited Sunday at 09:46 PM by Lisias Entertaining grammars made slightely less entertaining... Iapetus7342
Assuming that no license renewing, act of the universe or other intervention by the current IP holder of KSP occurs, we have approximately 3-4 days until... honestly idk either, although shutdown is on the table. Like a few other folks in this thread, I'll be lurking on the KSP subreddit if these really are the end times for this little community's forum. JoolRools
The new owners won’t have a motive to keep the forum alive. The end is certainly near, as even if they spare us this time the chances will drop dramatically in another 6 months.
