Hey Everyone,

We wanted to share the news that we will be upgrading the KSP forums in the coming month. This will mean that the forum will be offline for up to a day, and you might notice some technical hiccups here and there when you log back in.  We will follow up with a more detailed timeline soon.

Kerbal has been a bit quiet recently, but please know we read the forums, check your comments, and watch your videos. The game means a lot to us, and we want to make sure that our next steps with Kerbal Space Program are done with the care that it deserves.

Thanks

Oh my goodness, we're SAVED!

...anyone knows on how to make the KSP forums not-so-quiet again? I think i noticed it myself...

Why is everyone excited over this being Havelli? I'd figure that a company whose 'team' is littered with AI-generated portraits would inspire more concern than anything for KSP.

I don't really like companies either, but this one atleast shows some care for KSP (I hope they really do)

I don't know what concern there is about something that's effectively dead. Can't make dead more dead, so it can't get any worse than it already is.

Mmhm. I'll brace for the possibility that one of these days they announce Kerbal NFTs or some kind of genAI plaything using the Kerbal IP. Better safe than sorry :P

This forum keeps KSP1 alive. It's a much better tool than Discord for discussing new/upgraded mods.

Assuming we would still be allowed to mod the game, of course. :)

But even without mods, the Community is, indeed, the soul of Kerbals. I had seen some pretty nice videos made on Console on Reddit!

This new company has not earned my trust quite yet, but I'm... cautiously optimistic.

They also have not earned our distrust yet, either.  Therefore, let us keep an open mind and a neutral opinion. From what I have discussed with the person who is our contact behind the scenes, the forum's future is safe and is a goodwill gesture in the right direction. It will be more stable, and if they even deliver half of what has been said, it will be better maintained than we have ever seen.

Yeah that’s what I meant. They haven’t done anything to make me super hopeful for like a KSP game situation, but they haven’t done anything to make me super UN-hopeful either so I’m just in a “sit back and wait” phase

I'm happy that the forums aren't getting shutdown

This gives me hope for this games future. After everything that has happened over the past 5 years, it makes me happy that the KSP community is still standing, even after all of the hardships.

I truly do believe that things can, and will, get better.

Well this is big enough news to bring me back. Not exactly filled with confidence from a company that’s too chicken to even announce who they are, but I agree with the other comments that there is literally nothing to lose. Even nft trading card game with Kerbals can’t hurt the brand anymore than the current situation.

As we’re talking about good will, do you think you guys could leave up a thread in off topic about Kitten Space Agency? Discord doesn’t show up in search and the Reddit for the game is still super small so I was going to try and make a thread to consolidate the news and share it with people who would likely be interested in it.

Best move by far I feel would be selling the Kerbal IP back to HarvesteR under rocketworks but I know that’s about as likely to happen as an apology for leaving the game abandoned for so long after purchasing and even putting it on sale on steam with the page still showing a roadmap.

The company (the publisher) isn't really fully created yet, so that explain it.

Considering private division store redirect to a page named "Fictions", it will probably be the name of that new publisher (With all the people from annapurna interactive and private division).

https://store.privatedivision.com

So at this point I doubt they got any form of a game studio ready (Fastest possibility of getting something would be hiring an already existing game studio under a contract)

@Spicat Well when the spokesperson for the new dev team announces themselves I’m happy to hear them out, and root for progress. Odd to make this announcement before you’ve organized a plan and a dev team, but maybe they don’t think they’ll have that finished before they need to update the forums. Guess we’ll see.

@mrneonsorry to give you false hope, Spicat theorized that if they may be putting a new dev team together but that they’re not finished with that yet,  and that’s why this announcement was anonymous.

I was replying to that theory, neither him nor I are saying that there is for sure a new dev team.

I don't want anyone from PD coming anywhere close to this.
