  1. Past hour
  2. I am at a similiar point in my life. Jaded by tedius work in engineering related fields without the credentials to move up. When my marriage went to excrements I made quite a few poor choices. KSP did something truly unique for a game.. It inspired me. Much of the recent progress in my life would likely have been significantly delayed without the wonder of the first title. Most of this was from the Forum posts of community members as I lurked & saw just how many others the title had similarly touched. This alone probably doomed me to disappointment. Too much ofnmy expectation was predicated on that experience with KSP1. Now I am 40 and a few years into complete reboot of life, largely thanks to the inspiration KSP helped provide. The franchise is magical. Despite what happens in the here & now.. I have hope that one day Jeb & Val will eventually be part of an agency that truly deserves them.
  3. Kerbin, sitting around 300km up. It's a real trickle.
  4. Same here, I thought I was too old to go back to school so I played KSP instead. For context I was a laid off aircraft mechanic after the 2008 economic "correction." I worked on a bunch of stuff including the Diamond D-Jet and its L-39 chase plane. Anyways, laid off, I had to get a job to pay the bills so I got into logistics, which scratched the itch for the logical, problem-solving part of my brain vs. something like sales or management. I'm stuck in this job and my dream and passion is now a smoking hole in the ground. At least I can play KSP! And after about 5000 hours I realized that screw it, I can "fake" my way past any entrance exam for any of these courses directly from the knowledge I gained from playing KSP! As for where I would be in life without it? I had enough money saved up after a decade of toiling away in shipping to finish up some of my flying licenses, only to run out of money due to Covid issues like aircraft and instructor availability. So yeah, I'd be in shipping still. Probably being told by some idiot boss how to do my own job because they asked chatGPT and it says I should do my job this way, lol!
  5. Rocketwerkz is NOT owned by Take Two. Their website says they are independent, their steam pages show them as the developer and publisher of their games. Therefore, Take Two's decision to can IG has NOTHING to do with Rocketwerkz. Also, Rocketwerkz does not own the Kerbal IP. It sounds like they just continued development on their own internal prototype despite losing the pitch to be the KSP2 developer. This means, in no uncertain terms, that Take Two will NOT be transferring development of KSP2 to Rocketwerkz. It does mean, that Dean Hall is a savvy studio owner/manager/whathaveyou and he wants some KSP2 devs to land at Rocketwerkz, and use their skills and talents to further his studio's project, NOT to revive or continue support on KSP 2.
  6. I have not but it looks pretty awesome. I imagine there are setting to fine tune difficulty? Or at least a relaxed pace? I've never been particularly good at 4x games, but did have a brief love affair with "Sins of Solar Empire" many years ago. This has made me feel a bit better about my current Blegh that trending. I really appreciate the recommendations.
  7. Is there a way to transmit science from inside the PCR? For immersion purposes .
  8. quick Wiki read says the booster used was a Peacekeeper ICBM first stage, looks like it has a shell around it to be the same diameter as the ESM fairings
  9. Have you checked out X4 Foundations? It's very good, though learning curve is pretty steep and the user experience can be a bit clunky at times. I find there's a nice mix of management, a bit of story but not overwhelming amount, deep deep deep sandbox and fantastic mod community. There's an entire Star Wars overhaul mod available if you're into that. There's also another big update just about to drop any day now but your save will be compatible.
  10. Sadly, I think this kind of missed the mark on the premise of being a model building game. That's a very limiting foundation, but I guess they need to be worried about IP infringement and noncompetition issues since they basically ran Kerbal from day one. Really sad HarvesteR probably can't do a "legally distinct space program" kind of game.
  11. At this point, my do or die line is end of office hours Friday here. IF there is still any hands left at Intercept, and they don't post an update before end of day on Friday as a heartbeat to the actual community, then its buried and done. If we get some rando new blood account, its over, just like the publisher controlled PR twitter doesn't count for much, we're looking for the known names. Anything short of that is basically standing confirmation that everyone is gone, meaning further comms are at best a smokescreen for a completely FUBAR situation behind the scenes, or just straight up deceitful. Banishing the entire team in preproduction is already a near project killer, banishing the entire team in the middle of a public development cycle is assuredly one. Even a full "We've decided the code team is the problem" nuclear hammer would still retain designers and artists, and do a transitionary phase of devs in and devs out, quietly in the background. Its already extremely pessimistic of a perspective for them to have not said anything here yet, but if there's one thing that Intercept has always been reliably good at, its completely clamming up when they need to speak the most.
  12. Sure, same here. What happens is they get given 60 days notice and then kicked out of the building on (hopefully paid) leave to prevent them "sabotaging things". Been there, done that, cost me my total accrued vacation days which technically should have been paid out but weren't.
  13. I'll have to add that one to the list. A brief 10 minute read through makes Avarion seem pretty cool.
  14. That is more than likely the reality of the situation. For sure it is obvious that those cutting costs don’t give a excrements about the impacts down the line.
  15. With no different information than anybody has seen thus far.
  16. Fusion does not have the same waste, but it still produces neutrons and thus neutron activates near-by materials(something reactors hope to use for lithium production) so the pusher-plate of either will quickly become radioactive and thus dangerous for proximity.
  17. A feeling I know all too well. Depending on the kind of experience, a heavily modded bannerlords can provide some of it, adding new mechanical depth to the build up and existence of kingdom management, alongside its combat and army management elements. You did mention rimworld, but if you're looking to really deepen that, you could open the sealed curse of the HardcoreSK modpack. Turns huge parts of the game towards a much more involved and invested crafting and combat system that encourages inventive and new forms of play. The highly tiered production chains also heavily encourage exploration for the purposes of scavenging, and by extension all the support infrastructure to keep people fed, as advanced stuff like walk in refrigeration becomes something you often enough can't afford to set up right away. I call it a sealed curse because if it turns out to be the right kind of detailed management for you, its almost impossible to go back to a vanilla experience. As for something that hasn't been mentioned yet, you might find some fun in Avorion. Its got basic plot and lore to drive you towards an objective, its base gameplay is satisfying, there are fleet management elements around support ships both directly and indirectly, offers both very detailed voxel shipbuilding and a workshop to download other peoples very detailed ships.
  18. Thank you for telling me. Is there any way to activate / use these configs though?
  19. Not space but you can try HarvesteR's new game, Kithack Model Club. It uses the same building system as KSP but with some procedural parts (see? Harv did learn from previous games), and it's all about RC stuff, no helos yet tho.
  20. I've never played Factorio, so I can't weigh in on that for you
  21. Does anyone know any KSP alternatives other than Juno? I never enjoyed it.
  22. I haven't checked out DSP, but it's on my list. I keep looking at the store page and vacilating back and forth. Played Satisfactory for a bit early but had some issues with my OCD & base restructuring. I have some friends that run a dedicated server and do enjoy playing multi-player. Like Planet Crafter a great deal as well, but have a hard time really connecting... for like a 1000 hour save. I've played Mundustry a lot If I were going to pick DSP or Factorioyou would recommend DSP?
  23. Someone needs to do a KSP style physics game with exploration and voxel based resource extraction. If the physics are done well it could easily have combat-related functionality. A minecraft/KSP/from the depths/no man's sky hybrid would be a real hit.
  24. Unfortunately not gonna be super possible I think, I'll see what I can do. Would be nice to throw the paper rocket fans a bone. The things
