Yeah that's kind of what I was picturing while making it! Another thing I've been thinking of - I wonder how easy it would be to make a PSLV-alike with the parts we have now (or will soon) - something like a UA1204 first stage, Titan 2 or 3 second stage, maybe like an Orbus 21 in a fairing for the third, and a Transtage for the 4th? Might be neat! Also, forgot to show, but a small preview of some of the parts I'm making to go with the Titan 1 - adapters! From left to right, these correspond roughly with the current short adapter, current "medium" adapter, and then the long one - that's going to be pulling double duty! The long adapter will be available as a separate structural part, but will also be one of the autoshroud options for the LR-91-AJ3. I know I wanted adapters to be "generic" parts now, but because I needed the autoshroud anyways... I don't think these will be. That's no big deal, it just means if you prune the Titan folder you won't have them. I might still make a generic adapter. I need to make one for 2.5m > 1.875m too anyways.

Personally, I think the SRMUs are a little too clean right now... the textures were a bit rushed since I decided I wanted to just try and get Titan 4 in game. I'd like to differentiate the single segment and half segment's autoshrouds a bit too... And I think @Jay The Amazing Toaster was right - I'm not sure the white is correct. I'll need to double check it. But, I figure better to just push on for now and make notes of things I want to go back and double check. Probably better to get everything for the update in game and then go back to mess with textures some more. And yes, Saturn Multibody with SRMUs is awesome. Another idea someone had mentioned once - Atlas V with two SRMUs? I also was trying to figure out what to use the two new SRMUs for...

That's awesome! I know @Drakenex made the fairing texture, but where do you get it? I wish there was a preset for proper biconic fairings too... If you wanted to be realistic, you shouldn't limit the acceleration. Most engines, especially lifter engines, don't throttle at all. The ones that do are pretty much all modern. I've long through about making a realistic throttle range patch for BDB, just for fun. One of these days I'll remake the Centaur parts (maybe not the RL-10s but idk) to make them... good. I have the apartment to myself this weekend, so I'm planning on trying to bang out the Titan 1 if I can. Should be fun. I wasn't planning on streaming Friday night (though I might), but I am planning on streaming during the morning and maybe early afternoon Saturday, and in the morning on Sunday. Cheers!

The one "with shielding" is just to show the autoshroud, there's only going to be 2 1/2, 1, and 1/2 segment SRMUs I'm sure people are wondering, why have 1 and 1/2 seg SRMUs? It goes at the top of the second stage. It's not used on variants that have Transtage, I believe. Is this... new? Those parts haven't been touched in... nearly two years.

I believe the plans for upgraded boosters in general have been dropped. I am fairly certain that the Pyrios boosters in particular aren't in the running anymore if upgraded boosters are still being studied.

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
CobaltWolf replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This is great Kart! -
I believe the buildings are Tundra Space Center (or the other one @damonvv makes) and the launch pad stuff is from Modular Launch Pads.

Nice! I wonder if @benjee10 is still interested in making the cradle? And noted, I'll reduce the force on there. Yes - I really have to stress, DO NOT load a career save (or a save you care about at all, really) with the dev builds installed. There will be a lot of breaking changes, even from week to week. Feel free to open up a fresh sandbox save to play with stuff and share screenshots, but don't expect to be able to use the new stuff in a proper save for some time yet. Well, I am remaking Thor/Early Delta. The next update is going to cover Redstone, Jupiter, Thor and Vanguard. But I wasn't planning on changing the way Thor is constructed (partially since I already remade Delta in that style). The LR-79 wasn't used for anything else to my knowledge. With all the new Titan engines (I'm still wondering if I should make a single mount of the AJ3 or AJ5) we're not going to be hurting by not having the LR-79.

Assuming they're not actively broken, they can probably be more or less ignored unless a bug is found.

In my modeling software I had it labeled as Orbus-6S but I originally modeled IUS last fall and I don't remember where I got that designation from. In any case, I'm probably not going to make a non-extending version. There's enough small solids for now. The best document I could find was of an actual LR-79 so that makes sense. No wonder I couldn't find start tanks on the actual S-3D photos on HeroicRelics. They're so functionally identical, I wasn't going to add a proper standalone LR-79. The arrangement will be the same as before - LR-79 with a Thor boattail and built in verniers, standalone S-3D. I'll probably just delete those tanks, the poly count is already really high. Huh? I don't understand what you're trying to say. Anyone else have issues with the Orbus-6? Good thing that's not the Titan IV fairing base The Titan IV base is already modeled, it's 3.125m and not 2.5m like the Commercial Titan 3 base you're using there. The Titan 3E fairing base is something like 2.65m (ie, you can put 2.5m stuff in it cleanly) Not really sneaky so much as I just did it

Are you asking me to not make an accurate Orbus-6? More pre-production on the next update. Jupiter/Juno II S-3D/LR-79 The new, improved, accurate (to the one obscure document I found) JPL 6K engine. Y'all are probably more familiar with this as the "Seeker". Note that the updated version lacks verniers. The 6K is on the left, AJ-10-Able in the middle, AJ-10-Ablestar on the right. The 45K engine is going to be interesting. Based on the limited information I found on it, it sounds like it will be a cross between an AJ-10 and an LR-91. It was supposed to use a "hybrid" system, with a gas generator that pressurized the tanks, and the generator exhaust being used for roll control. EDIT: Oh, almost forgot to say, but I'm going to be streaming tonight and hopefully getting IUS in game for some shakedown flights. Looking to start sometime around 6-6:30 PM Eastern.

I'd love a proper Minotaur, but @Well doesn't have to be the one to give it to us It was one of those "we'll design an automated resupply vehicle that can provide downmass capability, which also conveniently lets us back door in the basis of a future crew vehicle if we can ever get the funding" type things. So yeah, think Dragon, the way TKS actually got used in real life, the ATV/CRV stuff, etc.

I think I'll give the foil nozzle a shot since it doesn't make sense for the outside to glow anyways with the foil... And yeah, it's actually not even the first! The last update added the second and third stage of the Peacekeeper missile (the basis of the Minotaur 4/5 LV) which both have extending nozzles as well!
