  1. Acronyms, named for the real world unbuilt concept they are based on, or the Greek equivalent god or goddess of the real world roman god name used ( or vice versa ). Or something silly. My standard rescue a kerbal rocket is called Goget-M for example. My Mir clone is called YAMAS for yet another Mir-alike station. Oh or a translation. Salute for Salyut. Union for Soyuz. Etc.
  2. That's the "root part resize bug" as I call it. Its a ksp bug. The only fix is to not have that part as the root part of the craft. Unless you edit the config to switch back to the older model=filename.mu which I do if I can.
  3. When I was faced with thjus I started the sparta program. Science platform and roving terrain assesment. Launched a lander with rover and science. Made it wide and with a low cg to keep it from tipping. Then used the rover to found a nearby flat spot to land. Later target it with your crewed lander. Land, plant flag, take science from Sparta and go home.
  4. Confirmed: State at launch: Deployed First G press - Normal retraction Second G press - Normal deployment Third G press - Instant retraction Subsequent G presses repeat "Second" and "Third" above. State at launch: Retracted First G press - Normal deployment Second G Press - Instant retraction Subsequent G presses repeat this pattern Missing Keyframe? - - - Updated - - - Thank you!! I try to make it a bit different. And, weep not for Venera - even tho this is career, I allow myself to revert in the event of something like this happening (it's either that or bounce back and forth with Sandbox and experiment, so what's the difference?) Here is the successful Parking Orbit to Eve flight! (not so KBS styled since there are no TV cameras in space LOL)
  5. You're welcome! Today's adventure - EVE II (Venera 10) And then, MechJeb let me down... Really bad for interplanetary transfers it seems.
  6. Awesome flag comrade! :-) I assume Venera's orbiter had an engine. Am I wrong? Did Blok D do the orbital braking at Venus? Animations at russiaspaceweb made me think Blok D did the transfer and then Venera did the insertion burn....
  7. This is kinda cool. (BTW, from my research based on reverse engineering the Chatterer sound files, to make your voice "Kerbaled" change the pitch +15% and then reverse it. From there you can then filter it to some old time radio or what have you.)
  8. About the DEBUG menu... I can't see any changes unless I "Launch", is that "normal"?
  9. Oh, I'm not as far off as I thought (hoped) LOL. I have about the same numbers, +/- 20m/s - tho my TWR is way lower at 0.54 or something close to it... In case you're wondering, that Blok D stand-in is a part from the "TurboNisu Reloaded" parts pack. It's simply a "naked" 1.25 to 2.5 adapter tank, holding 270 LF and 330 OX.
  10. Venera It almost didn't make it - well the orbiter at least. My "Blok D" had a paltry 1200 ÃŽâ€v. The orbiter did get into orbit, but it's a highly elliptical one. I first corrected the whole craft into a collision course with EVE, like Venera had with Venus, the released the sphere. Once the probe had landed, I returned to the orbiter and did a retro burn and barely got captured in orbit... Beale, how do you figure the ÃŽâ€v of your block D? (as in what is it?)
  11. Total sidebar here but: Is it a known issue that the settings you choose: Specific "head" for a Kerbal, Suit assignment to class, random/sequential/class based color assignment, etc. will get lost from time to time? They revert to the default settings. I'm not sure when this happens as it always seems to be something I notice later on - perhaps after a CTD? Will a "Forced Close" cause this to happen? If it's a "Yeah we know, it's just not a priority" then that's fine, but if it's *new* I'll try to get a better handle on what seems to cause it.
  12. Don't forget Almaz and check out the Tantares mod.
  13. Looks like one of the RemoteTech antennae actually. I have them in my install, even though I don't have RemoteTech installed - I hijacked their parts folder and made a Module Manager config to lobotomized them into stock antennae. @Beale - Glad you liked it, I styled the views and the T- text after CBS (Columbia Broadcast System, a TV network here in the US) coverage of the Apollo and Gemini launches back in the 60s/70s.
  14. Crewed landing (roman numeral) Then if its the first one on any given body: Here Kerbals first set foot upon (name). We came, we saw, we ate snacks. Otherwise, blank
  15. Sent another module up today... http://www.twitch.tv/tg626/popout?videoId=a634067007 You'd think you'd be able to embed Twitch videos... Oh, and that clock is accurate, I launch at T-0:00:00, so you might want to skip ahead...
  16. I have the greatest respect for those who are accomplished in their field and yet DO NOT dismiss such questions out of hand! Thanks for considering it. I suppose it is based in part on the fact that FASA has "Skylab" panels (the side ones, one of which broke during launch IRL) which are rated Panel Strength:10, Electric Charge: 24.0/sec and they are unlocked in the 550 point "Specialized Electrics" node. You would be correct, the further the RCS nozzle is from the COM, either laterally or radially, the greater the torque.
  17. Grab the "Tweakable Everything" Mod, it gives you that option with decouplers, along with if it will or WON'T appear in the staging tree. Other tweaks include turning off sun tracking for solar panels, torque of SAS wheels, etc. I usually side step the radial decoupler bug by turning the ejection force to 0 and using sepratrons to push a spent booster away.
  18. On a somewhat different topic. Why are the Mir solar panels in the. 1000 point electrics tech tree node?? >
  19. Witnesses quote him as saying "It's not my fault!" as he was being taken to the ambulance... (j/k)
  20. Shameless Promotion You can get a small mod (config really) to ADD IVAs to all crewed but not IVA enabled parts here-> Crew Portraits
  21. 1996 - Unix Dial up, the text based predecessor of http://www.sailor.lib.md.us/ Back then you still dialed up their server on a telnet connection, although PPP was available - before long I got Win3.1 so I could use Nutscrape and it was all downhill from there... My first website address was http://www.bcpl.lib.md.us/~tthompsn Before that I spent many years on local DialUp BBS's - anyone remember FIDOnet?
  22. Only some of your images are showing when clicked, others give a "404" File Not Found error. Also consider an account on imgur.com - posting picture there will allow you to "embed" them in your posts - like this:
