It's never too late! I mean really it depends on what you plan to do. Lately my career has been Kerbin-based transport and such, mostly helicopters and propeller planes, and as such, it's usually pretty easy to find contracts very near KSC. These kinds of missions I can usually do in 5 to 30 minutes, which leaves me plenty of time to tweak the vessels I plan to use and such.

Has this been fixed? Been using landing gear of (nearly) every variety with no issues for the past few days. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong and/or just failing to notice the problem?
-
Huh apparently I barely cheat at all. Usually I'll magic some extra funds and science into a career, but after that it's business as usual. Lately I've even disabled quicksaves and flight reverting on my latest Career. Only lost two Kerbals so far... one fell out of a rescue helicopter while it careened down the side of a mountain (managed to recover the chopper and the pilots, but that poor rescue engineer didn't make it ) and one poofed while leaping from a rapidly-spinning plane.
-
Can't say for certain when I saw my first one, but my older brothers have been quite skilled at messing up computers for the past 27 years, so I'm quite familiar with em at this point

If you're going interplanetary, it's a great choice. Make sure to put radiators near it. If you're just taking a single Kerbal to the moon, just use a Poodle. For that short a distance with that small a payload, the LV-N will be too heavy to be worthwhile.

My impressions upgrading a few computers for myself and family: - The upgrade process can be truly irritating at times for some PCs - Once it's installed, it's not too bad. Certainly better than 8.

Started a heavily modded career. So far been doing mostly local science collecting contracts and transporting VIPs and tourists. Tried doing a rescue mission for two mountain climbers and managed to lose my rescue engineer by accidentally hitting the mountain... Luckily I recovered and at least saved the two pilots and the chopper. Called it off after that since it's a no revert, no quicksave career. This is the latest chopper I've been using, which is incredibly fuel hungry, thus the fuel tanks all over.

How To REALLY Get Angry At Space Science Deniers
Slam_Jones replied to NeoMorph's topic in The Lounge
I've always wanted a Flat-Earther to go to the edge of the Earth and take a picture, showing where it stops. Surely it can't be that hard, right?- 175 replies

Leaving KSP... or at least for now...
Slam_Jones replied to ThatGuyWithALongUsername's topic in The Lounge
As other have said, you'll be back I take a couple month breaks here and there, just started getting back into it recently. You may think you've escaped... until you start seeing Kerbals everywhere. -
Thank you much! I've used some variation of that mod before, so I must just have missed it... Feel free to lock this thread if such a thing is necessary

Hi! The title says it all. Basically, the same idea as procedural wings, except there's no lift (or minimal) involved, as well as adopting the structural integrity and weight of the Structural Panels (the big flat metal plates). Reasoning being: I like building a lot of rovers and the sorta thing, and I have a habit of trying to keep as few parts as possible. I can sorta kludge things together with PartWeld and TweakScale, but they never look right. If this already exists, feel free to throw me into the river after you point out which mod I didn't see :| If it doesn't already exist, I may try to put something together myself... but it certainly won't be of the quality I usually see with KSP mods

Is it true that most KSP players never go interplanetary?
Slam_Jones replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Personally I am operating outside of Kerbin's SOI maybe 5% of the time. This was because of the lag my machine would get with high-part-count ships, and also partly because of the tediousness of getting an encounter, rendezvous, etc. etc. I've hopped on KSP several time saying something like "okay, today I'm gonna do a round-trip to Duna," but then ended up never even launching the ship. Often because I've run out of time due to having too much fun putting the ship together, but also often because I realize that I have no idea how much dV is needed to get there, let alone land, take off again, and get back to Kerbin. Also I've had too many times where I'll do nearly the entire mission, just to have it fail at the last second, losing several hours of work in the process (maybe I didn't pack enough electricity, or fuel, or activated the chutes at the wrong time, etc etc etc). At which point I usually decide that that's enough KSP for today... -
Female Veteran Kerbals
Slam_Jones replied to WillThe84th's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Not sure what all Squad has on their plate, but I think this idea (which does not affect gameplay, balancing, or literally anything else the devs should have to worry about) is best left to the modding community, so the devs can work on, y'know, important stuff. Not the 'inequality' of what comes down to a couple of pixels worth of difference in a game where it makes literally no difference. -
Yes, I am Solar System/Galaxy ideas.
-
Not to mention Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire.
-
Fair point. Some of the shots look real, and some were definitely edited with CGI. Probably just a mash-up of both.
-
Ah, can you clarify? I'm finding conflicting info on whether it's a dog in NASAs Vomit Comet, or if it's just an advert from Japan...
-
Not recently. It was pretty easy back in .90 or .25 (can't remember which), but since the new aero stuff, it's (nearly?) impossible. (The one Ion-powered glider I did make, back in .90 or .25)

Not sure exactly what you're looking for, but here's a few:
-
Space Lord

Looks like a heck of a ride... those last moments before the retro-thruster kicks in must be terrifying

Do perfectly good designs not work the next day?
Slam_Jones replied to Brainlord Mesomorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Sounds like my spaceplanes... "Hey, this one got the payload to orbit! Awesome! Guess that design is done for now." *Comes back the next day* *Can't leave atmosphere* *Sad face* -
Addicted? Me? Nahhh. I mean I've only played for about 1,100 hours. That's normal, right?
