[1.8.1-1] [PLEASE FORK ME] Kopernicus & KittopiaTech
Poodmund replied to Thomas P.'s topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Also, to build upon what Gargamel has said, if users cannot even be expected to read a LARGE pop up every time they load the game saying that "KOPERNICUS IS NOT RUNNING DUE TO NOT BEING INSTALLED CORRECTLY/ON THE CORRECT VERSION OF KSP", then how can we justifiably expect them to read through even more than like, the last two previous posts on a thread. Anyway, to add to the discussion above, installing Kopernicus and any planet mods that add bodies mid-save is not an issue as long as the mod is no longer using the flight globals index numbers for the planetary bodies (most now do not as this was deprecated a good while back). Adding in a planet mod that edits bodies mid-save could cause issues. Any vessel around said body will follow the body wherever it is moved to and if the surface topology is altered, any surface based vessels could potentially explode due to suddenly being above/below ground. Adding a planet pack mid-save that completely changes the system i.e. new system entirely, will most likely cause the vast majority of your vessels to be deleted. Removing Kopernicus and any planet mods mid-save should be fine as long as you don't have any vessels around any bodies that are being removed/altered, HOWEVER, as all your solar panels on all vehicles will be using Kopernicus' solar panel module, it is almost guaranteed that all vessels with solar panels that were created with Kopernicus installed will no longer function. -
Good for you... your loss.

[1.3.1 - 1.12.x] Outer Planets Mod [v2.2.11] [31st Aug 2024]
Poodmund replied to Poodmund's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yes, you should be able to install OPM during a save playthrough with no side effect as long as you do not have anything landed on Eeloo, anything in orbit around Eeloo and you may have to cycle through a few contracts before new ones start appearing for the OPM bodies... however, always make a copy of your save prior to doing this to be extra safe. :D -
[All addons] Texture resolution. Important!
Poodmund replied to Gr@y's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Texture resolution isn't as important as Texel Density, as this drives texture resolution size. https://github.com/PorktoberRevolution/ReStocked/wiki/Technical-Standards In ReStock, and the Near Future Mods that you pointed out, the art team has targeted a standard of 200 pixels per meter (part size) and 300px/m for areas that need high fidelity i.e. places with text or instrumentation. Compare this to a lot of mods and especially the stock game where densities of 600px/m are common and compare the aesthetical quality between the two. You don't need crazy high resolution textures to achieve a nice looking game/parts but you do need the technical and artistic talent to achieve such with lower texel densities. It would also help if KSP adjusted it's mip map LOD bias as currently it appears to require the camera extremely close to the parts to display the full res texture; as a result, artists (most likely unconsciously) tend to oversize their textures in KSP to keep their parts from looking smudgy and blurry at typical camera distances. -
CKAN (The Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network); v1.28.0 - Dyson
Poodmund replied to politas's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Kopernicus also backports releases to previous versions of the game. I'm not sure that they're indexed either. https://github.com/Kopernicus/Kopernicus-Backport/releases -
With the Celestial Body Shadows enabled, does anyone else have the issue where they do not seem to work at all? Position of bodies Sun occluded by Ike No shadow on Duna ... same thing happens with Kebin/Mun and Eve/Laythe where I have tried to view a shadow occuring. This does not seem to work in the Flight camera or Planetarium camera.

Outer Planets Mod v2.2.11 This version of Outer Planets Mod has been built to work for KSP version 1.3.1 - 1.12.*. About The Outer Planets Mod is a mod that expands the outer edges of the Kerbol system to create something akin to the real Solar System's. It adds Kerbalized versions of Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto as well as several of these planets' moons. These faraway planets provide a challenge rarely encountered in Kerbal Space Program; you'll have to figure out new transfer windows, manage your power supply differently, provide your spacecraft with more Delta-V and be ready to travel years or even decades. This mod is being developed and maintain by a group of collaborators, alongside and following the initial development of the mod creator, CaptRobau. Features Explore 15 new highly detailed planets and moons, all in a stock-a-like artstyle. Discover never before seen worlds, such as a sub-satellite, Trojan moon or a set of binary bodies. Collect science in over 140 biomes, with almost a thousand unique science blurbs. Custom terrain textures and improved ground scatter has made planets and moons never look so good up close. A full set of KSPedia entries for OPM's various bodies helps you to navigate the far reaches of the Kerbol system. Includes a Level 4 Tracking Station upgrade (requires CustomBarnKit) to boost your communication range out to the furthest reaches of the system without requiring additional modded antennas. Extensive third-party mod integration means you can play OPM with a whole range of other mods. Download You can either manually download and install Outer Planets Mod via the button and installation instructions below or by installing it automatically via CKAN (first-party support of CKAN is provided and new releases should automatically be indexed by CKAN in due course). Installation Instructions Extract the GameData folder found in the downloadable .zip directly into your Kerbal Space Program install directory. If located correctly, the OPM and CTTP directories should be found at: \Kerbal Space Program\GameData\OPM & \Kerbal Space Program\GameData\CTTP Dependencies The following KSP mods must be installed prior to using Outer Planets Mod (ensure you install the correct version of the dependencies for your version of KSP): Kopernicus (depending on KSP version) Module Manager Community Terrain Texture Pack - bundled within OPM Supported Mods Custom Barn Kit Community Resource Pack Distant Object Enhancement PlanetShine Research Bodies Visual Mods By default, Outer Planets Mods does not come with any included visual pack to support EVE or Scatterer. There are a few mods that add these atmospheric visual enhancements to OPM as follows: Stock Visual Enhancements - Retextures the Gas Giants and adds atmospheric scatter and cloud support to all atmospheric bodies. Does not apply effects if Pood's OPM-VO is installed also. Pood's Outer Planets Mod - Visual Overhaul - Retextures the Gas Giants and adds atmospheric scatter and cloud support to all atmospheric bodies. Not been updated in a while so your mileage may vary. [KSP 1.5.*] Outer Planets Mod[2.2.1] [25 April 2018]
Poodmund replied to Galileo's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've released an update that fixes a few minor issues and tagged it as compatible with 1.7.*. The release can be grabbed from the usual place (https://github.com/Poodmund/Outer-Planets-Mod/releases/tag/2.2.3) and will be updated on CKAN in due course when the metadata gets re-parsed. Changelog: v2.2.3 Fixed Eeloo's normal map texture Corrected a localization string on one of Wal's biomes Bumped version file to give compatibility with KSP 1.7.* And with that, all issues listed on the Git repo have been resolved. THEREFORE, if anyone knows of any further or outstanding issues with the mod, please let me know by creating an issue on the Git repo: https://github.com/Poodmund/Outer-Planets-Mod/issues EDIT: I'll be posting up a new thread for this tomorrow, please be patient. Also please allow CKAN some time to reflect the new download URL's as the NetKAN metadata will need changing. The new thread for Outer Planets Mod can be found by following this link: https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/184789-17-outer-planets-mod-v224-27th-may-2019/- 471 replies

[1.12] CommNet Antennas Extension / Info / Consumptor (2024-09-16)
Poodmund replied to flart's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Done. I grabbed the name from the comment in the part config when I added it, hence the old name: https://github.com/yalov/CommNetAntennasExtension/blob/master/GameData/CommNetAntennasExtension/Parts/CommDeployableAntenna/DeployableAntenna.cfg#L19 -
(UNRELEASED) Komorfia : Eye candy in KSP! : Development Thread
Poodmund replied to Heirloom's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
So you've never heard of the concept 'level of detail'... this is exactly what all games do do. Take some of the best looking mods out there for KSP for example, Nertea's work, they all use more simplified meshes then utilise normal maps to infer more geometric detail. The same is done via the detail texture system with EVE. Have a large, tillable, highly detailed detail texture and let that render on a much lower resolution main texture mask. If you believe that this method doesn't function properly then you probably have your fade values badly set up and the detail textures are not rendering in from far enough away. -

[1.12.5] Restock - Revamping KSP's art (August 28)
Poodmund replied to Nertea's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Is basically the new, unshrouded variant. The previous 'Podded' variant is still included. Both unshrouded and podded come in Rockomax Orange and also a Grey variant. -
For the robotic parts, with all due respect, I hope the GUI is much more akin to the Infernal Robotics implementation and much less like the UI for the USI Konstruction PAL parts. But making groundside exploration more interesting, introducing new ground side experimentation and new ways for players to create more complex vehicles is a great move forward!

CKAN (The Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network); v1.28.0 - Dyson
Poodmund replied to politas's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Every time I open CKAN for the first time each boot, I am presented with this pop-up: I presume that something is not functioning correctly with the 'anyof' metatag that was introduced recently as if I click 'Yes' to reinstall, it reinstalls fine but the message appears again if I reboot the PC and open CKAN. I have even uninstalled the skyboxes through CKAN and manually to see if that resolved the issue but it did not. Its not breaking anything with the install but is a little annoying. Any thoughts?
