Postponed. "It was too early access. CU next year."
-
And the next project needs that work time. More likely, the system requirements will be growing up on adding the listed features. So, the "80%" should not relax. So, then it adds these features with no alternative, like hard-coded. While they are provided by system tools which can be disabled , like in KSP-1. But in KSP-1 you can disable them by not installing the mods, in KSP-2 you probably can't.

From the mentioned above by somebody This makes to think: is this the final version of System Requirements? Or just to run the simplified Early Access edition? Will the listed features be being added one-by-one yearly, together with the further hardware upgrades?

Global Warming affecting the dinosaurs: 2000 - 20 = 1980 "Dinosaurs were cold-blooded beasts covered with slimy scales." 2000 + 20 = 2020 "Dinosaurs were warm-blooded cuties covered with fuzzy feathers." PR matters.

Some guesses. 1a. Based on the cut-scene graphics, it's not a game about space barrels, but a graphic platform to produce the Avatar sequels... 1b. ... and to run the real Boeing CST-100 Starliner, that's why they sent a Kerbal in the recent flight. 2. Based on the Kerbal advanced facial expression thread, it actually needs a good videocard to render the shadows from the Kerbal eye lashes on the high-res textured eye balls. 3. Based on the strange difference between 45 and 60 GB on HDD for "minimum" and "recommended", it will load from internet different sets of textures (like some planet pack mods have different texture sets on github). The 15 GB diference makes to guess that the low-res version occupies 5..15 GB of 45. If so, then the non-texture data take 30 .. 40 GB. What's that? Kerbal sitcoms for cutscenes? 4. Watching the super-high-res videos of celestial bodies, one can only feel sorry for the planetary mod makers, who should either provide same detailed custom planets, or have them cartoonishly bare and flat comparing to the stock ones. And also feel sorry for the planetary mod users if every custom planet will take several GB to install. 5. The stupid me was sure that "minimum" requirements is when all config sliders are down, and the game is still not a slideshow. Was wrong, sorry. Probably, there is some apocryphal "minimum minimorum" requirements for potato eaters. Your optimism inspires. Some could think, the "optimized version" will not appear till that time anyway. Because usually "minimum" means "have all sliders on min". *** "45 GB" = "new SSD just for the 60 USD game". When KSP-1 takes 6.

1. Most of KSP players have two kidneys. The excessive one can be sold. 2.A lot of second-hand high-end videocards after the crypto-mining collapse. ????? 3. Profit! Launch!!! *** It's funny to read the "it's Early Access, so isn't optimized enough yet" about the game whose release was declared three years ago, which is a remake of the game which keeps being tested hard for a decade, and has Parallax and other such mods which definitely let it look as good as it's enough for the game about flying cylinders in the middle of nowhere, sometimes landing. *** This gam doesn't need an anti-piracy protection. Even if beggars get it from torrents, they will have no PC to run it.

Granted. Now the Kerbal police wants you. I wish there were various sorts of neutron.
