Jet engine with an Ion toggle
Kertech replied to Gameslinx's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Errr aren't these literally two completely different technologies!! With two drastically different methods of function. I'm not saying you couldn't put an ion engine in the middle of a jet engine, but you'd lose efficiency of the jet engine that way, or put it round the outside, but either way you have two engines not one combined! -
Just putting it out there that it's on sale here http://store.steampowered.com/app/220200/ on a different note, is it always £18 on kerbal store??

150 Kerbals to Duna on a friggin' Spaceplane!
Kertech replied to NoobTool's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
That is how Elon Kerman would do it... what was frame rate like? -
I'm going to test the water for a couple of weeks (2 tops) should be long enough to see if serious bugs occur, if not then copying time...

The v1.2 Hype Train Thread - Prerelease is Out
Kertech replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah with the dev notes stuff I always read them a day after they are released cause sat here on the greenwich meridian (which by the way should definitely be standard time for ksp for non selfish reasons... ) they come out at like 11 at night Actually did I dream it or do they use GMT on the ISS??- 1,592 replies

The v1.2 Hype Train Thread - Prerelease is Out
Kertech replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Surely it's an event by the fact that its marked as a date but is an insignifcant event due to nothing happening. But then by being so insignificant it becomes significant for being the least significant event.- 1,592 replies

As per usual I only read the word recipe and think that this is a cooking tip thread! also hyper edit seems to make orbits less stable in my save when engaging time warp, they switch position. Fine normally, but awkward when suborbital and you jump five minutes forward into the planet!!

it's wayy too immersive, the graphics seem almost real! I've been playing doctor for a while now, but then that's 90% of being a med student

meant to post rest of this earlier but ipad crashed on me (turns out reading ksp forums whilst oggling a THOR-ABLE at UKSpace Centre is a bad idea) I Feel strongly that just a little more compassion can go a long way to making everyones day a little bit easier. Alternate to this reality maybe, heaven forbid it is a separate realm unreachable to those on this side of the fence.

A Kerbals life expectancy is inversely proportional to the number of struts a vehicle has to work...

So as I said above I have deffo got a Spaceplane bug!! How have I ignored them for 2 years! (well probably because they're end career game mode and I never really get to them before I need 100tonne+ lift capacity!!) Testing had its ups And downs Time to show the ones I'm proud of: First off the cormorant 2 (that technically has nothing to do with the original cormorant that didn't make it to orbit ever!) Easy to fly essentially its my long range jet with a rapier engine. Can't get beyond LKO but it's Jebs baby. Along similar lines the Falcon series, 1 & 2 are desgined to look nice (1 looks better but 2 is functional and can take off without a hill!!) mk 2 Then I decided I could more or less crawl so time to sprint, starting the ranger series which are interplanetary capable The I decided that I might want some utility SSTO's enter the eagle series The first in this was the Ranger 1b, basically the above interplanetary plane but with more weighty crew cabins, monoprop and docking equipment Then the Eagle 2 which is my favourite SSTO so far, manourverable, can transport 3 tonnes to LKO and re-enters like a charm!! Finally my mission to create heavy lifters (this was harder than going interplanetary!) First I built big Then I built the Gargantua Which amazingly worked though was not efficient!! So a need for a more user friendly started. I eventually gave up through a load of parts together and strangely it worked!!
-
Having never built an SSTO space plane till two weeks ago I have built ten working sstos, 1 can land and return from Duna, one can haul 40tonnes to orbit, and one is pretty much useless but looks sexy! But more important than that my girlfriends present for my birthday is coming up (this weekend) a private tour of the U.K. Space centre in Leicester! Might be a little bit excited...

Over the past few days posts have been made, threads have been created, and lots of speculation has occurred. Through out all this many members have been throwing accusations around, with circumstantial evidence at best. Please remember that this wonderful game exists because of their hard work and dedication. Please remember that the new developers are now probably worried about this hostile seeming community. and most importantly remember that everyone involved is human with normal feelings hopes and dreams, and all of this must be awful for them. Best of luck to all squad staff who have left, who remain and to all who are joining. I'm going to request this thread locked, I don't want a discussion, I would like people to sit back and think that behind the usernames, profile pictures, keyboards and screen sits a person the same as you.

good luck @RoverDude, despite some members, you are respected and admired by the community and me.

what I've been saying to all the doom seers! Just get a version you're happy with and stockpile mods!!!!
-
tbh I think the devs who left probably just want a break from ksp for a while, they've put time and effort into something and may come back to it later! They deserve it and @SQUAD and our amazing moderator team (whom I shall simply call @Red Iron Crown cause writing one is tricky with limited internet!! I know you guys wouldn't bow to pressure from anyones agenda!!) should have our thanks for the work they do. Be cautious and hopeful. A lot of what I have been reading has being opinion and worries that hopefully the aforementioned squad can either lay to rest or explain why (as to play KSP I assume a certain level of comprehension!)

We know nothing currently. Back up your saves and a build of the game you like and see where the rest of the game goes. Relax and see where the wind blows!

I bet someone in the PR department is kicking themselves over the free content, and full expansions line

Paid expansions and previous statements RE paid expansions
Kertech replied to dlrk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've said this previously somewhere else, but if you're so worried about DRM and paid for content, then do what I'm going to do, make several clean copies of a stable 1.2 build, as many 1.2 mods as possible and mix and match on my own hard drive. What ever dlc comes out would never be as varried as our fabulous modding community. Time for me to leave the update cycle. But please be calm people, right now we know nothing! -
You're not meant to say that, it wakes the trolls (and argumentative people) from their slumber!
-
my plan is when 1.2 gets stable, I'm gonna make a few hard copies of it, gather mods for it and use it as a definitive version! Bit worried about the implication of free updates and expansion packs, not sure if there's something else going on
