Doing good. Rodney is a contract? Others have used two capsules stacked on top of each other. So if you have the capability to do an EVA your good. When you are withing 2.2 km I believe you can "Switch" to the other craft. You then own it and you can tell the little guy to EVA. That is until you unlock some probe cores and do without a pilot. The first EVAs are pure pannic. So make sure you have a save to revert to and try again...and again. And again. Grabing the lader is hard the first few times. ME EDIT If you transfer the pilot to the crew cabin the EVAed Kerbal can get in the the command pod. If he is a pilot he can stay there. Otherwise you can transfer him to the the cabin and transfer the pilot back to the front.

Hey Kerbalites. So I left Eeloo as we all knew I would. http://imgur.com/a/qkqjA Stop 11. Dres. As I had surmised. Going from the edge of the system down to the inner planets prove to be fast. Way too fast. So I added a tech stop on Duna prior to making my way to Eve. Tech stop. Duna. Dres being on a different plane and my not correcting for it meant a polar orbit. I can live with that. Allan couldn't get out fast enough. He as been gone from Kerbin for 31 years. Next stop Eve if I can brake enough. Would be nice to avoid tech-stopping in the Kerbin SOI. ME

Congrats. Feels good doesn't it? I still struggle with anything with wings myself. I find that the MK! cockpits has a tendency to explode on reentry unless I keep the nose real high. But it might be something I do. Landing? I use parachutes high up on the nose and when the ship is upright blast the engines to slow down to something below "splat-Speed". ME

Please don't compare yourself to others. Not worth it. I have been playing this game for 6 months like it's a religion and job. I am retired. No other bother.....Not much anyway. I still see guys drop in with a 4 part ship weighing in at 1.05 tonne do the grand tour and say "That was a fun 3 hour exercise". And I am totally amazed. Mind you some of those guys have been around since the birth of the game. You are doing very well. ME

Ok. Update. Won't bore you with the details. Plenty of pictures at: http://imgur.com/a/qkqjA I have built ships and have been some place but not all. So recently I built this: In the hope of seeing what there is to see. And prove that I might be learning a few things here. It as one seat, one ISRU and half full tanks sitting on Kerbin. Just enough delta-V to start the trip. Stop 1. Minmus. Stop 2. Duna. EDIT: Forgot Ike. Stop 3. Ike. Stop 4. Jool. Well not an actual stop at Jool. But there it is. Stop 5. Laythe. Stop 6. Vall. Stop 7. Tylo. Again not an Actual stop as I don't have the delta-v for it. Stop 8. Pol. Out of order. Yes. I know. I didn't want to chance running out of delta-v by going to Bop first. Stop 9. Bop. Allan got to do all the touristy things that Kerbals do when they get here. Such as pin-the-eyeball. Kalamari-body-bath. Of course there was some climbing, kicking, name carving and sampling the seafood restaurants. Stop 10. Eeloo. Stop 11? Probably Dres. I don't have enough experience to predict how I will travel to the inner worlds yet. Might involve some gravity braking. Revisiting Jool and or Duna...We’ll see. I am so pleased that things are working. Can't wait to be done so I can do it again with a two-kerbal ship that can do Tylo and Eve as well. ME

Don't have the time today to upload pictures and the whole story but I will give you guys (gals) a hint. Allan on stop no.7@10y,244d,05:52 ME

I was having problem out of nowhere the other day. One of the things I tried was a shielded port (When I switched from the MK1 Cockpit to MK1 Inline Cockpit) the but the drag was excessive.....Plus it exploded. I can't put a "Mach Spike" (Comm Antenna) on one to protect them at high speed. That's when I tried going back to a proven model (With the MK1 Cockpit) for good measure....Witch wasn't working either. Rebooting my PC the next day seems to have cured the demons that were possessing my game. But the ship took some hard engineering turns in between. So the port might work now. IDK. The intake was chosen to be profiled, light and heat tempered. I also had to fit it with a Mach-Spike (Yes, it exploded for me). I tend to go real fast real low. The Shielded port weight 0.1t with 2600K the intake 0.07t with 2400K. This last mission I am currently flying I got to Minmus with 18 Units of LF. The ship is pretty much maxed out. I would love the port, an extra battery and chute. I can't. As for the airbrakes They are there to raise the nose on re-entry. The MK1 cockpits explode easily. And yes it does tumble....But I don't care as long as it slows the ship real fast below 1,400 m/s. i don't make good flyable aircrafts. I am going to upload some pics and tell you guys where Allan is right now with the Take 3.4. Yes, Jeb loss the position when he went for an unscheduled restroom break in the middle of testing. Pretty pleased. (Not that Jeb lost) (By how the ship is working out. Out there) ME

Hey Kerbophiles. Not much time this morning to report. So first of. Did more testing of my Single-Kerbal-Ship-to-Everywhere (I hope). This one was meant to just go up and see if it could re-enter the atmo without causing death. Allan did as he was asked. But Jeb? Once up there Jeb decided he had to go. So he went to the Skylab. I said: Jeb, can this wait? You can spend years without going. I usually go before takeoff. Jeb. I said. There is no docking port because of weight restraint. It's alright. I'll walk. After a short while. Jeb came back. And testing resumed. and this is where I am out of time. But Testing got better and gave results. Finally. Here is the last utterance: When I come back I will report and where it as been and where it is. ME

I never use them. The v-Tail is enough to get me up there. It's at 45° so covers pitch, roll and yaw. I rotate them more or less if I need more input on one of the other sides. I am just looking for control going up. Some on the way down. I never could fly a plane around in this game. No matter how many surfaces I put on. I got loss somewhere in the design. Changed something....Can't achieve orbit well anymore. It seems to be in my flight profile. Flying differently.....somehow. I now need to pitch to 5° after leaving the runway. Never flew that flat before. It's always 15 or 20°. IDK if I changed the COG, elevator placement or what. Perhaps when I added the parachute and airbrake. Weight and drag? killed everything? Maybe. DK. I reverted to an earlier ship version and it still cause problem. Did someone update my game version while I wasn't looking? Just kidding. I just don't know what is happening. Plus I can't re-enter the atmo anymore without exploding....Grrr. Gained Duna, lost Minmus. Get Minmus back lose Kerbin. Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush. More testing and modifying coming up. I will see if the wing angle-of-incidence can help me put some one more airbrake to get Kerbin back without loosing Minmus. Landed with 18 units of LF last night. ......Of course I could strap a big booster or refuel in orbit......No. No. No. Stay the course a little longer. ME

good day all Kerbanites. Following some recommendation from @eddiew I had reason for every decision I made and objections for everyone of the comments but I redesigned anyway. This the latest and bestest version yet: http://imgur.com/a/p2fCg I can't go leaner than that. Well hardly....a thought just popped in.....But as of now it has just enough Oompf to get to orbit with minimal delta-V to Minmus. The wings are empty. Tankerage for later. If I add anything to it. Anything at all it just can't get to orbit. I also gave up on having a pilot on board. It as to be an Engineer. Still need some testing around Kerbin. But in my explorations I discovered a few things. Such things as: What do you do when your one-Kerbal-ship land where there is no resources? Rove somewhere else of course. I was told recently that a lander with wheels is ugly....Works for me. I discovered that you can sample and mine the soil while moving. Up to 10 m/s. What do you do when you encounter a sharp decline of the terrain? Turn around and use the main engine of course. What can you do when going down hill on Duna in your Roving-One-or-Two-Kerbal-Ship to control speed without wiping-out? Use the chutes of course. Anyway. Lots of fun when things start working out. Still a few avenues to check out for removing weight while still having enough delta-V and make sure I can re-enter Kerbins atmosphere safely. Then....Soon I hope....Do the Grand tour....Well maybe not Duna I mean Eve.........Or Tylo........We’ll see. Fingers are crossed. All four of them....No wait five. ME
-
Well you don't have to kill them as such. You can get them to Kerbin and do a "Rescue Mission". ME
-
I never use landing gear legs. The gear with wheels, yes. If you look at the damage in m/s that a gear can take they compare with the engines. Plus you have less parts and weight. ME

The last few days were spent building and playing with SSTOs. http://imgur.com/a/uUTBK Built a nice one and on pure just do it sent it to the Mun. On the way down I recognized where I was. So I taxied to the "Big Arch" in the next crater over. Took 10-15 mins. Jeb was very disapointed. After refuelling Went to the obvious next step. Minmus. I love Minmus. Easy to land on. The colour, lighting, the eat-ability of it. Refuelled and went to Duna. Thinking "Hey I got the Delta-V to go anywhere". And that's where my fun ended............. It can't LAND. I tried many ways the last few days. And it just won't handle AIR. Won't glide. Forward or backward. Neither Duna nor Kerbin. Added airbrakes, fins and what-not. Power-landing, moving the COG. A leaf on the wind. Won't behave in a predictable way. Tried a clean-slate redesign, rebuild. No dice. No work. Quite disappointed. I wanted a single-man-go-anywhere-ship. Not a huge SSTO-factory-thing-a-ma-bob. Could do moons only but getting back ON Kerbin would be nicer. Never mind at the KSC. Will work some more on it. Like huge-wings-with-gobs-of-parachutes-or-something. There is something that I am not learning here. ME

Anti G Flight Suit
Martian Emigrant replied to Moesly_Armlis's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
In that Video there is the beginning of a "Bad Joke" .....I know that joke! It's old.....A bit like me I guess.....It's spread to Japan? Or did it migrate here? Weird. The Internet is weird. ME -
Funny you should mention that. I was going to let this tread die but after rereading the first few comments I was thinking like you. I found this: It allows the creation of planets. So I was thinking to use it and create a "Trojan-Planetoid-Asteroid-Potato-whatever" or "co-orbital asteroids" called "Kerbin L4" and "Kerbin L5" with minute mass so you can't land on it (Less than 0.01G on the surface) and an SOI smaller than Gilly. BTW being Planets means you can't "Grab" them either. We can pretend that it's good enough. No need to do a Lissajous orbits. Of course I have a bit much on my plate with the "Real life". My wanting to learn about KOS and what not. ME

That's the level of technology that was available to me . ME

Well a few things here. Yesterday I rebuilt my "Elon Rocket". Meaning building a two-piece-re-usable-rocket to carry 100 Kerbals to Duna and back. Kinda works....WIP. That's it. That's what it is....WIP. http://imgur.com/a/JiNt7 The only problems left are: No one can get out (Because they can't get back in). And the ship as a tendency to explode over the KSC and then crash the non-exploded parts on the KSC. I am working on that..... But today I played with 1.2 and made a 2 Kerbal research plane. http://martianarepeopletoo.imgur.com/all/ Great view from the front Ok from the back Doesn't have to "Landed" Maybe it's because I am playing with the texture settings but the images are just gorgeous. 1.2 is alright. ME PS I had Jeb walk to a tree....Darn, you can't climb them.
-
I was reading another new post for Lagrange point simulation and.....It got me thinking some more about that. I know can't be done....Realisticaly and you can't do funky orbits like in the "real" Universe with what we have....It is a game.... But... But why can't we have new ephemeral moons with no surface and a small SOI. If it's small enough you can't fly through it unintentionally. It as to be on purpose. And you could orbit in there. At or close to the theoretical centre or on the edge of the SOI. I am not asking for 4 points for every body of the system. How about say the leading and trailing point for every "Planet". Dres, Eeloo and Moho don't get any. Comment? ME

Low Mass Duna Challenge
Martian Emigrant replied to JacobJHC's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
That was amazing to watch. One of the amazing bit for me was that I actually followed what you were doing. I guess I did learn some but I still have a fair bit to go to get to that level. Bravo! ME -
I am guessing that you have a save and can come back? Try it with the legs retracted. The engine can safely touch the ground. I am guessing some leg issue with a non-zero sideways speed ( Like say0.00013 m/s). If that's the case once stabilized you could re-extend the gear. EDIT: Last thought. I have found that on hills is you rotate the craft with the SAS, the ship rotate of course but also goes down hill and finds a better resting place. IE Flatter. ME

Comment deleted by me. It was about a different cockpit. ME
