Socraticat replied to Socraticat's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
@Scarecrow71 Additional Rules: Be Excellent to Each other The "OneOscar" Craft you choose to fly for membership must follow the following criteria: It uses a single Oscar tank It uses Elevon 4 as its only wing type It must be a biplane in the spirit of "OneOscar" Branding This is a standardized craft build. The idea is to show your skill with this particular arrangement of parts. https://kerbalx.com/Socraticat/OneOscar-FGM-Lite-Spider Other Club Compliance Guidelines and Specifications: I'll have a video of the build process within 24 hours. Does Reinstalling help?
Socraticat replied to stephensmat's topic in KSP2 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
It's not my favorite thing, but it works if you are looking for a clean slate. I used to go through a lengthy process for troubleshooting; revert- restart- new campaign- New install Now I just work from a campaign that I saved on Day Zero before doing anything else. I try to keep my missions limited to single launch, single vessel (staying within physics bubble) for now until the next update. And I keep my craft files on my desktop next to shortcut to the game folder. Worth it. -
Sometimes I can't keep up... Arc GPUs. Didn't even know that was a thing until a few months ago. Aspeed what? Lol.

I often forget to put a follow on things. I know things can get cluttered, so this is intended to be a general "OneOscar" Hype thread, and the Challenge is to be in the KSP1 Challenge Forums. Yes- "OneOscar" KSP1 Challenge is coming. First I need to do the laundry...

C'mon, folks... I'm getting on this train and I'm not disembarking until 1.0, or Nate calls it a bust, publicly. I've seen the hate. I get the frustration, but I full heartedly believe that we can present this game, and our faith in those working hard for the community, better than anyone else. We have some of the most thoughtful members on this forum; if we can't be supportive when times are tough who will? If we can't be thankful and patient, why should they develop it any further? If all we can do is label the creators as maligned with corporate interests, what choice do those interests have other than to distance themselves from bad publicity? Maybe it would be better for them to cut and run... But I have faith. Not in anything amorphous or intangible, but in the people who are actively working to progress this game's future. I have faith in the people that have spent their real time- you know, the ones that make the game because they love it, not because they get the biggest paycheck at the end of the day. Those folks are still working. They still read your comments. Constructive criticism and dissatisfaction are to be expected, but where is the space on this forum to question the development team's good faith? Answer that to me. Who of us really has the authority to declare the intention of the people behind the code? Who here really prefers putting down the effort? I don't. I hope that the team also sees every positive thing we have to say. I hope you all haven't lost your faith in others... I'm getting on the hype-train and I'm not getting off of it until it derails or we hit 1.0!!! Who's coming with me?!

Hey, maybe you already have a solution. I use OBS. I record in 30fps for manageable file sizes for now and then open the file in a video editor (I use Blender because I like Blender for a lot of things) and scrub through my gameplay for scenes I like. Once I've found a section, I can scroll frame by frame to find the shot I like the most. I can also quickly scale, crop, or overlay text and other images in the video editor. Once that frame is tailored to my liking, I render the image, save it to desktop, and upload here via Postimages.org

There was a poll recently asking about Morale. I voted positively and found learned that I'm the only one that voted "Love it, can't wait to play more." Poll is closed now. Feeling kinda lonely on the hype train lately... Anyway... Here's another launch:

I'm sorry, what? How is this a 4090? ASPEED Graphics Family (WDDM) gives me some cloud solutions and vague performance results without comparison to competitors. I don't know how you get the Nvidia 4090 comparison- these things are not the same.

It might have been said already, but I really enjoy being able to put custom colors on my crafts. I especially like the ability to change opacity to get more metallic colors. I think it's a highly underrated stock feature

Someone got me. I uploaded a nice comparison vid earlier, but failed to do a proper frame rate comparison. Well, this still isn't proper, but it's better- Raw capture speed for both, FPS overlay for KSP2. I run a 3080 and a Ryzen 5 3600, I have two 1080 monitors (one is a projector) and I use OBS to capture. I can say, with certainty, that I have had less luck recording KSP2 with a 2060 (the card KSP was recorded with). I intentionally play with smaller crafts so that the game is more enjoyable, and I'm happy to see my gameplay evolve with the stability of upcoming releases.

Velocity does change in proportion to your location in your orbit. Slows on the way to AP, increases on the way to PE. So to tell if you are accelerating be sure to watch your AP and PE change while your inputs are at zero- not velocity alone. _____ I too have OP's problem, and it basically means I don't ever try to leave anything in orbit. Pretty wild workaround for a game that depends on orbiting craft. On a similar note, parked vessels Don't remain stationary either. Sometimes they spawn above their previous location when they reenter your physics bubble. Sometimes I could swear crafts respond to the input of another vessel, even from far away (that's more difficult to prove, and also results in craft falling out of, or expanding, an orbit.)

Map & Tracking Station Orbital information not showing up
Socraticat replied to Wm Sanford's topic in v0.1.2
@Wm Sanford It is frustrating. I don't do multi-body missions right now because stability past the first body is... being worked on. I have less trouble if I don't EVA after landing, but even then, if it isn't a missing orbital line, it's a decaying orbit while in a vacuum. It's a bummer for now, but the last game-breakers (saves and wrinkled wings) were almost completely squashed in the last update. If you like playing, you'll have to settle with changing your playstyle to avoid bugs, or avoid the frustration altogether by waiting. I probably only play half as much as I would if it were at 1.0. (And that might be because I like cutting my gameplay in an editor. Even goofy data is data- and I have some amazing fun in between frustrations.) -
I find that after EVA, the camera is always bugged until maybe a full game restart. Might just be until revert, but I haven't checked that far... yet. Similar issues happen after I've used manual controls for pan, zoom, etc. on the number pad while in capture view.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for contributing! This reads like a mission report, lol. Sounds like a wild ride. So, your craft first survived going through the Mun's surface? Can you share a picture? Postimages.org works great for uploading to these forums. I want to recreate this.

Developer Insights #19 - Try, Fail, Try Again...and Again
Socraticat replied to Intercept Games's topic in Dev Diaries
If you give me a bug to feature I will absolutely make a video covering it's use- and the bug. I just finished a gameplay/soundtrack video for fun, so now I'm ready for more... "work"? -

Hey Kerbals! I've been trying to Hype up KSP2 lately, but I want you all to know I have a deep passion for all things KSP1 as well. I learned the ropes on console, moved to PC in anticipation of KSP2, and am finally in a position to share my "work". The procedural wing system is amazing for customizing the crafts at this size, and I really enjoy changing the colors! But what I really hope for is folks to share in my love for silly crafts and whimsical challenge. I've been engaging with the community and trying all sorts of new things. I would like to offer some challenges in return. Look forward to some content in the KSP1 Challenges for the KSP1 "OneOscar" ZeroG Club. I'll have a stock vehicle ready to go with a set of challenges to accomplish for entry into the club. [For anyone ambitious enough to try these challenges before I upload a tutorial and craft files, they will include, but are not limited to: Flying under the RD bridge; Fly through Both Island Airfield Hangars (and return)] As for other places you can find me- Check out the KSP2 "OneOscar" Fan Club here: And soon I will be posting an archive of my KSP experiences, Including craft files from my early KSP shenanigans. I look forward to sharing more with you soon! Fly Safe!

If you've seen my KSP2 posts, I'm really into this little plane I call a "OneOscar". The procedural wing system is amazing for customizing the crafts at this size, and I really enjoy changing the colors! But what I really hope for is folks to share in my love for silly crafts and whimsical challenge. I've been engaging with the community and trying all sorts of things I never did before when I was stuck in "Career or Bust" mentality. Now I would like to offer some challenges in return. Have you checked out the challenge forums? Definitely gives focus to the Sandbox, and there are some challenges that don't really deal with reentry (Kerbin; around KSC). Like landing on the VAB, or Flying under the bridge. And thanks for the "go with the flow attitude". It's definitely not polished yet, but everything seems fine to me. It's going to be exciting hitting all of these milestones!
