1.5.1 replacement for Mk1 Command Seat
Geonovast replied to Slaver0110's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I don't know about the Mk 1 Command Seat mod, but TakeCommand was retired because its functionality was made stock in 1.5. -

[1.3.*-1.12.*] Pood's Skyboxes [v1.3.0] [17th Jan. 2019]
Geonovast replied to Poodmund's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I tried it with the newest version of Sigma, and it didn't work. So I just copied the Sigma folder and Skybox folder from my 1.3.1 install and it worked fine. -

"Rechargeable" Engines. Which ones are they?
Geonovast replied to WillWam's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There's only one in the stock game. And it's not rechargeable... it simply uses electricity to fling xenon out into space to provide thrust. So you still need the xenon as propellant. The batteries are rechargeable. https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/IX-6315_"Dawn"_Electric_Propulsion_System -
Landing Legs with Hooks
Geonovast replied to SwissSpace93's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Could you use a one of the KIS/KAS surface attach pylons? Attach that to the ground, bolt a docking port to it, and then "dock" with Hale? -
Best I could do. He would not wear it.

You don't need steam to play it, just to install. You can launch the game without steam. Take advantage of the sale! -
New computer specs for KSP
Geonovast replied to jlcarneiro's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Regardless of what brand you get, if you're playing KSP on a notebook, get yourself a cooling pad. -
Jeb wanted to see how fast he could go at sea level before things exploded.

I think it had a paused KSP running. But that's not really the point. She chose to unplug my laptop and just let it die. Countless other outlets she could have plugged it into. Or, I dunno, UNPLUGGED THE SMELLY THING.
-
I left my laptop out in the living room, on and plugged in, Thursday night. It shared an outlet with one of those airwick fragrance things. My wife and daughter set up the Christmas tree while I was at work yesterday. Since that's the only convenient outlet for the the tree, something needed to be unplugged. Guess which one they picked?

Generally SSTO, unless I'm feeling recreation-y.

In the VAB, turn your CoT on. Turn the thrust limited on the vectors down to zero. The CoT indicator doesn't care about what's in what stage. Then you can try to line it up with the CoM. First pic is with Vectors at 100, second is with them at 0. Obviously, in flight, you'll simply have them turned off, but for the VAB, they need to be set at zero thrust. It's not perfect, but it's better. You won't get it perfect, it never can be. Your CoM will move around with the payload and fuel consumption, so it'll take some practice to find a balance. It's especially tricky since the gimble overreacts. You'll also want an alternative control point in that line, otherwise you'll still have issues with the manuever node / prograde / whatever indicators not lining up with the CoT. I stick a jr docking port between the CoT and CoM indicators. With the offset tool in local mode, you can see where "forward" (green arrow) will be when using the docking port as your control point. You want that lined up best you can with your CoT. If "forward", CoT and CoM are lined up, you won't be flipping. It's not important which way the cockpit is facing when you're in space. Even if your CoT and CoM are lined up, if they're not lined up with your control point, it will try to gimble to get your CoT lined up with your control point, pointing it away from the CoM, causing flipping.

New computer specs for KSP
Geonovast replied to jlcarneiro's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
https://ark.intel.com/products/95443/Intel-Core-i5-7200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3-10-GHz- It's dual core, but has 4 threads. Base clock is 2.5ghz. with a boost of 3.1ghz. I run less than 10 on my laptop. It's not my main computer, just it's really just for messing around when I'm not home, not serious playing. I think you should get a desktop with a processor better suited for KSP. -
New computer specs for KSP
Geonovast replied to jlcarneiro's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
For CPU, you want to focus on single core performance. KSP is primarily single threaded, so if you're focusing mainly on KSP, you want to look at that. The higher clockspeed will usually be the better choice (depending on a few things), but single thread benchmark numbers is where it's at. More cores won't really help much. For GPU, unless you're planning on dumping in a lot of visual mods, just having one is what helps, not really what it is. It's just nice to take that load off the CPU. My laptop has the i5-7200U with a 2GB 940MX with Linux Mint and it plays stock / light modded just fine. -
I will not have my thread derailed by such lies.

Just curious, why do you not want to use MH in your career save? I'm not seeing how it "Of Course" applies to that. You could probably just run two separate installs, one with MH installed and one without.
