  1. If you're launching from outside Kerbin you are going to need to deliver resources needed to build things before you can launch them, so it won't be istantaneous. No, but clicking the launch button after gathering said resources should be.
  2. Not quite the same concept on paper, practically the same exact gameplay requirement and consequences. I don't care because I want the launch button to instantly take me to my craft, regardless of colonies.
  3. TLDR: Resources required for extraplanetary launchpads + automated supply lines = construction time. Not quite the same. I thought we were talking about the construction time of craft, not the colonies and the supply lines.
  4. From the Steam store page description: "Kerbal Space Program features three gameplay modes. In Science Mode, perform space experiments to unlock new technology and advance the knowledge of Kerbalkind. In Career Mode, oversee every aspect of the space program, including construction, strategy, funding, upgrades, and more. In Sandbox, you are free to build any spacecraft you can think of, with all parts and technology in the game." That description for career mode sounds awfully like a management game to me. Huh. Alright then. It's a management game on one mode. Hopefully it stays that way.
  5. Go back and read the previous pages, no point in repeating myself. There's about 50 replies from you, no point in reading all of them.
  6. A bunch of features could have been added to KSP1's career but it didn't happen because there was no clear design goal and they practically abbandoned the mode after releasing the first prototype/placeholder. "A bunch of timers" are in fact already confirmed for KSP2, with colonies and craft requiring resources and supply lines, mining and refining/production taking time. And? That actually makes sense but it has nothing to do with what we're talking about. You can't have colonies without resources or supply lines but you can have a game without a useless timer.
  7. Can you provide a logical reason as to why they would possibly want to spend time on this? Can you provide a logical reason as to why they wouldn't fix such a glaring issue with the game? I get all that, I mean what logical reason would Squad want to do that for? You're telling me there's no reason to not use ancient formats and textures that bog the game down!?
  8. Career existing, that's the management side of KSP 1. And a bunch of timers could have been added to KSP 1 for career mode, but that didn't happen because KSP isn't a management game at its core.

  10. KSP isn't a management game, it's a rocket simulator. Nothing in the design pillars say anything about management, and overall construction time probably goes against the pillars. However, that doesn't answer the question of where you picked up KSP being a management game.
  11. It does matter since other vessels and celestial bodies in the background will be moving during construction. That matters much more in flight, but I would much rather just warp to my Duna transfer, glue my rockets together then launch instantly without a big useless timer. Precisely
  12. So spacecraft should just teleport to their maneuver nodes instead of having to timewarp to them? Isn't watching that timer countdown to the maneuver pretty much the same thing? No, it's not the same thing, because time matters about as much as location when actively flying a vessel, but construction time doesn't serve anything.
  13. I boot up the game and my vessel takes 5 in-game days to build! "What does this add to the gameplay?", I ask. Nothing at all, just a timer I'll come to despise.
  14. May I ask why versions beyond 0.13 aren't open? Is Take Two waiting to bundle old versions in a DLC or does Squad just hate Nostalgia?
  15. There's a blurrier line than you think between rocket parts and airplane parts.
  16. Kerbal Space Transportation System, Bon Voyage, Mechjeb, Restock/Restock+, KSPIE, OPM and The World Beyond, to name some.
  17. What are you talking about? Nobody thought the game was getting galaxies. In fact, as soon as someone read "intergalactic" they posted this thread and all of us said "yeah, they meant interstellar" Well it's just a good thing we're not stupid.
  18. Yes, let's get a guy with no interest in orbital mechanics or rocket science to review a game with the word "Kerbal" in it. The least a game journalist can do when looking at a game is to do some basic, surface-level research on the topic of the game and do some proofreading, otherwise you get game journalists that mislead entire fandoms and cause disappointment as fans realise said game isn't getting galaxies, or just flat-out ignorant game journalists that bash a game they don't understand. Unfortunately that's most PC Gamer journalists, so why PC Gamer gets all the screenshots is beyond me.
  19. Minmus doesn't take much more than the Mun to get to. Once you're on your way to the Mun, you're already going very quick and it doesn't take much to raise your apoapsis to Minmus.
  20. For how journalism works these days the reporter, the proofreader and the editor are all the same person. The reporter, proofreader and editor are the same person. But that said person doesn't bother to check what they're talking about. Besides, we're talking about PC gamer, of course the articles are going to be poorly written.
  21. I disagree. For LS to be worthwhile it needs to be fully integrated into the other gameplay mechanics present. Making it optional would require these other mechanics to be designed to work with or without it. This would necessarily mean shallower, less interesting systems. If it’s not good enough to be fun for everyone, it shouldn’t be in at all. Still should be optional.
  22. I would actually visit Dres if there were rings around the Dresteroid region
