I don't see how this even approaches realism.

Make a Terraforming DLC
Bej Kerman replied to Vl3d's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You're underestimating just how long it takes to terraform a planet (and perhaps Aziz is too). Interstellar is quick and simple compared to this. While we're at it, why not get rid of seamless interstellar travel for the Spore point-and-click approach and do away with orbital mechanics? After all, "it's not about the realism, but about a playable approach". Point is, if you ask me, Spore hardly belongs in a discussion about KSP. -

Bad science in fiction Hall of Shame
Bej Kerman replied to peadar1987's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I personally don't find it strange that one of the crew can disable a rogue ship's systems when there is other crew onboard. There's all sorts of reasons that could be. -
Bad science in fiction Hall of Shame
Bej Kerman replied to peadar1987's topic in Science & Spaceflight
We don't know if TARS can do it better. Probably, Dr. Mann had reasons to doubt. It doesn't matter anyway. The movie literally says this... So yeah, another complaint to add to the bucket of problems that weren't there to begin with -

Concern about the level of terrain detail in KSP 2
Bej Kerman replied to wpetula's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Whoever designed the collision also seems to think gear-up landings almost always lead to the landing airplane dissolving into the concrete. Just saying, KSP 2 should have mercy on parts that are travelling at high speeds but with little vertical velocity.- 59 replies

I wouldn't say that. The Blackrack clouds, if inserted in KSP 2, would hardly look like they were from the same game to me. I don't see what you mean by rigid and triangular, they look fine to me.
-
I did say "almost" now didn't I, Bej? So we're not alone. I for one can't wait to look further into this.
-
Yeah, except for that one over there. And also the arches, before 1.12.5. And also this.

I don't see any KSP 1 screenshots that look better than KSP 2. Blackrack's clouds would clash against the super-cartoonish almost cel shaded Kerbals, even Restock doesn't manage to fully fix Squad's borked art direction, and no-one seems to have fixed that thing you occasionally get where terrain textures become super stretched if you fly far away to the outer Kerbol system. KSP 1 looks exactly like what you described, an attempt at hacking something together from a 10yr/o game that's greater than the sum of its parts. KSP 1 modded really doesn't look better than the new hotness, not even close really.

Developer Insights #11 – Engine Exhaust Visual Effects
Bej Kerman replied to Intercept Games's topic in Dev Diaries
This makes no sense to me. Please explain why the KSP 2 team would ever do this -
SpaceEngine already has a feature that lets you ask it to set the graphics to max automatically when you begin recording, and have them set back when recording stops. The engine also slows down so that the recording has a steady framerate, so even mediocre PCs can record constant-60fps max graphics footage with enough time. Different game, but hopefully Intercept takes inspiration. The way SpaceEngine's recording feature works is nothing short of genius.

I doubt they'll be available at EA launch, given they're likely tied to orbital colonies. The devs will have builds of the game with orbital VABs, so I don't see why they wouldn't use them to deploy the vessel in the screenshots.
-
Yes it absolutely does have to do with resonance. The resonance prevents them from getting so close they disturb each other gravitationally.
-
No points where the sections could have been connected like large docking ports, just one solid structure from what I see. What happened to orbital VABs?
-
Care to explain why you think this?
-
I don't see how that's noteworthy.
-
The mods can't do what correctly, again?
-
Didn't the devs themselves say we were getting that level of precision?

Concern about the level of terrain detail in KSP 2
Bej Kerman replied to wpetula's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
That would be impossible and would leave you out of all the benefits you get from being able to start over, take a look back and see how everything went wrong with the first game.- 59 replies

KSP2 Roadmap predicted dates?
Bej Kerman replied to savagekerbal's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
Yeah. Honestly, flying rockets just doesn't feel good at the framerates KSP 1 offers. -
I don't understand how this hurts anyone. What is this based on?
