I see that too, RB should die, it's been dying anyway. But to have it just deleted isn't right. Archived for progeny is really all I want. But I realize i sound selfish and emotional over what some people don't even consider to be relevant. I'm sorry. I forget that when I release craft they see me more than my company. I guess I am delusional.
No, you're not. You posted content with an expectation that as long as you didn't break a rule no one would intentionally delete it. Maybe you or other users had some posts deleted by mods for RP or other violations; that's fair. But now someone has decided to change the standard after the fact and delete EVERYTHING. As someone who spends a lot of time creating content for other users here, that gives me pause. Close Rocket Builders, come down hard on future roleplaying for the sake of harmony and give the poor mods a break, YES. But to delete posts that did NOT violate community guidelines or forum rules at the time they were posted--that's unfair. Yes, it's SQUAD's site and they have every right to do what they want, but it is not the right thing to do.
So, do we have an ETA on the next novel?
No, I'd rather not speculate sorry. Finishing the last one took a lot out of me; I need a break, and time to get my ships and plots properly designed. Then there's the whole forum migration thing coming up... So all I can say is be patient, support other fine content, and the new thread will launch when it launches :)
P.S. I demand to know Mort's background!
Well, there are a few possibilities. He could indeed be a Kerbulan robot who escaped or was exiled and somehow made it to a planet the Kerbulans don't know about. That would explain his BSOD. He could also be a video game character in a comic book known for excessive literal tvtropes references. That could also explain the BSOD. :)
Kuzzter, if at all possible could you slip in some 'save the rocket builders' subliminal messaging?
Well, I did state an opinion on the main thread. "First they came for the roleplayers, but I was not a roleplayer so I did nothing... next they came for the ficwriters..."
I saw it before I read Starwhip's post and I feel accomplished. :D This is getting....headhachey. :P
It could be worse. All you have to deal with is one extra planet. No timeslips! One dimension! I'm not as smart as Parkaboy, I can't handle that kind of shenanigans :)
Sanic, if Kuzz could either send Kerbs to Dres or mention the potential loss of the RB what would you choose? Have fun with your decision... *laughs*
:snort: Very tempting to set up the Kerbulan Empire as a company on the RB thread and offer the 'Vultur' and other ugly SSTO designs for sale. Hey, you guys could all be Centurions, Legates and Sub-Legates! Glory to the Empire! But yeah I kind of like my relatively infraction-free record so no :)
Something I saw in that comparison picture. Duna didn't move. Either Kuzzter kuzzed up or it's tinfoil hat time.
Just lazy. I cut out the center of the map, flipped it, and rotated it to move Kerbulus to the right position. Purple planet came along for the ride on the rotation. I said "ehhh, close enough, they're not paying attention to the clues anyway" and called it a night :)
Also, was the Kerbin on the flag the wrong way around for the Kerbulun?...
Why would the Kerbulans have Kerbin on their flag? :) But seriously, that last image of the S.P.Q.K. flag was intended to make a definitive answer to that question for you.
Tomorrow I will start saving this thread and all 180 pages of replies on internet archive. Thank you so much! Hopefully we won't need that archive, but it's good to know it can be done just in case.
If Kerbulus was directly opposite Kerbin on the other side of Kerbol, then the Kerbins would never see it, until they went to other planets in the Kerbol system. Ah, but you see it's impossible for one planet to be hiding on the other side of the sun from another--its gravity would affect other planets' orbits, and... wait, what's that? There's no n-body physics in KSP? DAAA NAAAAAAA!!
And now it all makes so much sense! And now I understand why I must worry for Kerbfleet. Yep. Actually I'm worried too, at this point I have no idea how Our Heroes are going to get out of it if and when the Kerbulans find them. Hopefully I'll think of something.
Oh. OH. Kuzzter, you clever little powerpointer, you... (It's slightly off though, unfortunately.) Ah, Starwhip, you clever, clever reader! Yeah, sorry about that--being the 'reliable' kind of narrator I'll tell you that Eve being slightly off is an artifact of how the 'other' image was made. You shouldn't read anything into that.
Kerbin is slightly off between the 2 as well. It looks like one of the pictures is slightly forward in time compared to the other. Yeah, yeah, that's it... it's that, and not the fact it was a total .ppt cut and paste job at all. Kudos for the retcon, you get a 'no-prize'! Well, I'm very glad to have such engaged and intelligent readers. That makes the effort of telling a story that's a little deeper than flying around and planting flags all worth it. If you enjoyed the last few pages of discussion, thank Starhawk. He figured it out a while ago, and I think did a great job of nudging others in the right direction without spoilers. - - - Updated - - -
Yup. And what do you think he'll find there? Ruh roh. http://i.imgur.com/91oNHNX.png Eve is just slightly off.

This seems absolutely nuts. I never understood the whole RP aspect of Rocket Builders, I thought it was silly-and yes, I know, this is coming from a guy who writes kerbal fanfic in Powerpoint. I could totally see locking those threads forever and coming down hard on any new instance of roleplaying. But people created content in that forum for themselves and for others, and they did so with the expectation that it would be treated like any other content. A lot of people in Rocket Builders even managed to post that content without violating any Community Guidelines or Forum Rules at all. So, now we're going to remove ALL of it--all those ships, all the images, all the effort people put in to making a richer KSP experience for themselves and their fellow users--but we're going to make darn sure we keep "Offend the User Above You!", "Things That Made You Facepalm!", and who knows how many other ill-concieved and locked threads--not to mention all 1267 pages (and counting!) of important "Number Wars" history! I don't get it. I'm already getting questions from readers wondering if MY content is going to be safe. I'm told it will be, but who knows? Maybe next time around someone decides that user-created fiction is a bad thing, and everything I've worked on and all the interactions I've had with my readers just disappears.
Uh oh! Looks like forum update is upon us (for reals this time :P ) And since any forum user with a bit of experience knows how Murphy's Laws love to wreak havoc with that, i must ask: Kuzzter, do you have backup copies of DOB and Eo0? Just in case, of course :P
Yes, of course I have all the images locally and on Imgur. I don't have copies of your glorious comments though, so here's hoping that all gets retained as is planned.
Kuzzter has showed us (for those who want to know) exactly where the Kerbulans are and if you love Kerbfleet, you should be very scared.
Eeek! Now I'm scared! So yeah, I do find myself wondering if anyone other than Starhawk thinks they've figured the whole thing out. Not that it should lessen your enjoyment in any way if you have or you haven't, but it helps me to know whether I'm hitting or missing with this stuff. So feel free to speculate and theorize along with Starhawk on the thread based on what you've seen or think you've seen. If you think you know something but aren't posting it because you don't want to spoil a surprise for others, please PM me and tell me what you're thinking. I won't give out spoilers by PM either, but I really am curious about whether the general readership is picking up the clues and whether your thoughts are going where I'm trying to lead them. It'll be at least a few days of testing... various craft before any new comic starts.
Hmmm... would Bill (in both universes/places) not notice something odd in the "persistance files"?
Not necessarily; Bill Kerman doesn't actually see the whole file. He just edits the parts of it that he needs to to correct something that's wrong...basically he's my in-story mechanism for whenever I have to go in there because of some glitch or bug. Actually this is a very good question, so I just posted Bill's article in the canon thread with some key clarifications.
That's why I think it's ominous. It's not his imagination, it's something real that he's seeing. Hopefully he will realize it before the inevitable direct interaction between the two groups.
Right. I guess I can confirm this, it's important to know the narrative rules for any work of fiction: anything you see in 'comic' form is real, it comes from me. It is happening in real time, like it's being shot with a camera, UNLESS I identify it as a dream sequence or flashback. Unreliable narrators are kowmulch, IMO, and they insult the reader. I don't do that.
Their evil counterparts have a Bob...with ugly facial scruff :D
Hey, I was in a hurry :) It might look better if/when he finally, dramatically turns around. Here's what you should worry about: do they have a Bill?
Back from page 143: Rath wins.
Yes! Although a couple of weeks ago while I was doing the trial scene I was kicking myself for not calling the book "Code Purple".
I don't think they did anything. It just disappears when you zoom out. Like in this image:
Yeah, sorry about that. Being a Reliable Narrator, I'll confirm that 'the brown planet' exists for the Kerbulans just as Moho exists for the Kerbals. Both images (the one Bob Kerman is staring at and the one Bob Kermulan is staring at) at are taken at precisely the same zoom and focal point, and so in each one Moho ends up being too close to the sun to be rendered. Whoopsie! You guys have sharp eyes to have noticed that--but sorry, Moho not being there means nothing.
Also, as far as I can tell the Marty-Stu fan-fiction had nothing to do with the empire, so they have only been speculating about the mirror-universe comics as potentially being inspired story-telling by Kenlie, and as the evil Kenlie is also writing fiction about kerbfleet, that there might be an alternate Kuzzter who is writing about NASA...
Right. We haven't actually seen any of Kenlie Kerman's stories about the Kerbulan Empire; we've only seen him talk about the images and the act of writing it down. It's possible no one else has seen them either--Kerbfleet doesn't have a secret police force that looks into peoples' personal files. It would be plausible to assume that anything Kenlie Kerman did write down about the Kerbulans would 'mirror' what Kenlie Kermulan wrote down about Kerbfleet: a fictional story containing elements of the other world that the author shouldn't possibly know about. No one really believes that a Kerbulan named Martistus blew up the Dipperkraft, right? Come to think of it, Kenlie Kerman does include something Kerbulan in a Martustu story that he shouldn't have known about... the bloaking device. Though I had not yet come up with this storyline when I wrote him writing that, it was just something ridiculous for funsies.

Hmm. I think pronouncing 'evil' that way predates Spongebob by a little bit... probably if you look at the original Hebrew scrolls of the book of Genesis there are some extra vowel marks in the front of the word Korrect. No one else wondered why I would use the same shot of Evil Gene so many times? I'm not normally that lazy. Hmmm... what else have I showed you more than once? I hope so, because it's a LOT of work. Seriously, if you're sitting back there and you've pieced it all together (or parts of it) and this sort of thing intrigues you, I need to hear about it. When the comments can't seen to tell the difference between the intentionally bad prose fiction Kenlie writes and my allegedly good comics... well, that tells me maybe I'm putting too much effort into the whole thing. Anyway, I made these. The postlude is over. Next mission will begin in a new thread. Thank you for reading. Nailed it
Okay Kuzz, so you effectively ruined the entire Kerbfleet saga thing, the fact that the whole thing is written by Kenlie just makes it not enjoyable.
It gets worse I'm afraid: if based on what you've just read Kenlie Kermulan created the whole Kerbfleet saga, then based on the events of the last Interlude, Kenlie Kerman invented the Kerbulans. What does that mean? Well, I'll tell you...
Kenlie created Kenlie but Kenlie created Kenlie but Kenlie created Kenlie and the whole thing disappears into some kind of vortex--a spacetime reality frappé!!!
Sorry you're not enjoying it, Sharkman.
