Why didn't you do the test flight during the day? Makes it easier to see mountains coming.

Science and Spaceflight - inaccessible via mobile or PC
Vanamonde replied to JoeSchmuckatelli's topic in Kerbal Network
@Cuky, please clarify if this is only on the Science sub? -
There's this really weird thing where a couple of people are having trouble accessing this subforum, but only a couple of people, only this sub, and only sometimes. It's really baffling and unfortunately the IT guys haven't found a fix yet.

Flipping During Reentry
Vanamonde replied to ww1612's topic in KSP2 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I believe 18Watt has the right answer though I haven't built anything this large in KSP2 yet. -
Thoughts On Workspace Vehicle Saving?
Vanamonde replied to Dr Mayhem22's topic in KSP2 Suggestions and Development Discussion
It needs a rework or at least some in-game instruction because I struggle with it. The other day, for example, I discovered that I had somehow over-written every ship in my VAB with the design I was currently working on, even though the previous saves retained their original names. I'm pretty sure it was user error, but I have no idea how I managed it. While I'm here, why does it always ask me if I want to over-write something even when I'm saving the current craft for the first time? If I haven't saved it before, what I am over-writing? -
For Science! - My Thoughts (And Yours Too!)
Vanamonde replied to Scarecrow71's topic in KSP2 Discussion
Please restrict the discussion to game matters. Real world economics and politics are off-topic and divisive. -
Since RCS requires less thrust they can get away with arrangements which are less complex and less massive, so they often just release compressed gas or spray a substance onto a catalyst. It's one fuel instead of 2 and there's less waste heat to deal with.

Interesting ship design. -
Because they were started months apart and we didn't notice the overlap. Merged now.

Problem with first launch (decoupler question)
Vanamonde replied to Captain Wolf's topic in KSP2 Discussion
This general sub is fine for now. We're all getting used to new stuff and asking questions. -
Challenge creators sometimes make badges but don't actually control them or give them out. If you complete the challenge you can copy the image into your signature.

Stuck on advanced construction tutorial
Vanamonde replied to Camster's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Welcome to the forum. I don't recall having that problem but I have moved your thread to the questions sub where I hope someone else knows a solution. Good luck. -
Docking ports just will not connect
Vanamonde replied to Beratimus's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
A common mistake is to have one of the docking rings placed backwards. Can you perhaps share pictures of your docking attempts? -
Well, that's unfortunate.

Replicating the Training Flight
Vanamonde replied to auranaut's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It's been a long time since I've run that one, too, but if you launch at an angle instead of straight up, your descent will be more gentle and it will give the atmo more time to slow you, possibly sparing the chute.
