  1. This mod works on the latest versions. Could you update the version files for CKAN and SpaceDock? As of suggestions: I'd also like to see this expanded with an open MK2 cockpit in both a two seat side by side, and one seat integrated into an Mk2 to Mk1 adapter. Finally, one for the Airplane Plus Mk3-1 and the stock 0.65m size would be nice as well.
  2. Another great suggestion I thought of when getting up: An open coup driver's cabin and passenger cabins with external command seats for lots of fun!
  3. Nominations for mods to add (in order of Priority): KAX Airplane Plus Grounded Suicidal Insanity's Mk2 and Mk3 Stockalike Extensions. RLA Reborn SXT Continued Kerbal Attachment System (to a lesser degree) Kerbal Inventory System SCANSat (Give scanners base nodes for perfect nose attachment)
  4. Suggestions: Could the doors on the Materials bay have their bottom moved a little higher so they are clear of the trunk and fuel-cells. Also, could there be an option to have a side door on them? Additionally KIS and Breaking Ground compatible cargo modules would be incredible. A bigger selection of fuel tanks would be nice too. The base frame and wheels needs to be a tad heavier considering how durable they all are. It might not be a bad idea to make it even more durable. Finally, I think the low-end torque of the motors is a tad too high. It accelerates to top speed way too fast. A more gradual acceleration with a similar, or even higher, top speed would be nice. Possibly add a tweakable on motor torque that changes the cost and weight of the part.
  5. Generally it is favorable to say "In the event of a bug, do a manual installation of just this mod to verify the bug isn't from CKAN." I strongly support moders doing this. It's part of the standard bug isolation procedure. CKAN is continuing to get better, but you are correct, it still glitches on a few mods, and sometimes it's difficult to keep your mod's CKAN database up to date. I have experienced a few problems with CKAN here and there, but nothing severe enough to stop me from using it for the mods it works fine on. Simply put, like any automatic software package installation system, CKAN isn't perfect. While easier than hand-management it can never be more perfect than a well qualified person managing mod files by hand. Sadly, not everyone is well qualified, and even for a well qualified person, it's not exactly convenient to do everything by hand. My most annoying issue with CKAN is how it sometimes has it's GUI gets stuck or how it sometimes has trouble when installing a large number of mods at once. This is honestly minimal compared to the largest problem I encountered, which was when certain files are not properly deleted, or get restored by SteamCloud. I have this problem with Airplane Plus and KAX. Moving the additional stock crafts to the GameData directory should fix that, now that the game actually looks there for them.
  6. I love this mod, just like I love Airplane Plus! Might I humbly request CKAN support.
  7. I know a lot of mods that can use this. I was thinking this should be done with parallax maps, but this is even better.
  8. While adding RAM might see some improvement in load speed due to better disk caching, it will be minimal. Past 16GB the benefit is reduced that. The money would be better spent on moving from an HDD to an SSD, which would see great improvement, getting a video card with 6-8GB of texture memory if using a modded install, or 4GB if using a stock install or the upgrade to a processor with faster single threaded processor speed. As of memory speed. Dual channel DDR4 is fast enough to have the CPU be the sole bottleneck. If you are still running single channel DDR4 or running DDR3, using high performance memory will see improvement, as will upgrading your system in a manner that allows the usage of Dual Channel DDR4. You can test how much memory is being used by switching out of the game while it's fully loaded (you can pause it) and looking in a system monitor utility that shows memory usage. If you have at least 1GB between free memory and disk cache, you have enough memory for your setup.
  9. Thanks for revising this. While Airplane Plus has filled most of the needs left by the absence of this pack, I love having it back!
  10. I just discovered this mod. If you need an additional editor on staff, my technical writing skills are impeccable. I can definitely help if you need help.
  11. Realism Overhaul contains a huge selection of realism enhancing mods. With or without Real Solar System support, this is great for physics realism. I personally like my game "Kerbally" with the semi-realistic physics. Realistic enough to learn about the physics theories involved, without being a hardcore simulator. About the only mod I really like is FAR. I can't recommend this one enough. However, watch for mod interactions on it. Certain mods don't play nice with it well. That's why I haven't used it in a while. Maybe when I have some free time I'll revisit it to see if I can get it working with some of my favored mods.
  12. I agree, it should be implemented partially in the stock game but without the added features. Simply classify it as an "easter egg" for the stock game, but without the DLC features, it's no more useful than the UFO at Kerbin's pole.
  13. EMACS is an old school text editor. It's highly optimized for code and largely uses keyboard macro input. Editing python in Microsoft Word? Is that troll bait?
  14. So is this working with the current KIS/KAS versions yet or does it still need to be upgraded for the link-type system?
  15. You're back?!  Welcome Back!!

  16. Cool! Should be stock! Is there any way you could move this to insert this into the Stock Debug panel?
  17. Here is a wonderful guide to creative commons licenses from someone at Northeastern University's IT service. https://www.northeastern.edu/ats/teaching-technology/e-learning-resources/copyright-fair-use-and-crediting-creative-commons-media/ While primarily for attributing research, it also applies to licensing materials. (Research or otherwise). Like they say in this, in EVERYTHING, you should always give credit to third party resources used unless the author explicitly says they don't want credit, then simply give a note implying that you have a source, what the sources qualifications are, and that the source wanted to be anonymous. (Common slang for this is "a little birdie told me".) In the case of KSP it would be "A nice member of the KSP Community" for anonymously donated assets and fixes. Handles are perfectly good attributions as well and referring to changelogs and other things on the pages for info for the tons of community donations a project recieves is considered industry standard and entirely appropriate.
  18. The feature is from module manager, it is to indicate that you have a KSP version that is not yet whitelisted for module manager, and may have issues. This is to make it easy when filing bug reports. I know there is a just for fun function to force it on when you have a compatible setup. (A config flag). I don't know if there is an option to turn it off. They should add a module manager panel in the config box with that, and other options (such as disabling caching, forcing a regeneration of the cache next load, and blacklisting patches from modules.)
  19. All those are the best threads of all time that have continued nearly indefinitely. well worthy of that as well, but none created in the last month. Great way to celebrate april fools
  20. Does anyone have a status of this mod's compatability with SXT Continued? Is there anyone who would want to make an SXT Restocked mod to adapt SXT Continued to use these incredible textures instead where aplicable?! Maybe apply the same treatment to RLA Recontinued as well, despite it not normally using stock derived textures? Yep, PartDatabase.cfg is just a cache file. If it gets poisoned with crud in a manner that breaks stuff, but can't be detected by the "Bad cache file" you can just delete it.
  21. A few more models were updated in 1.5-.1.6.1 Want to throw in legacy versions of those. I bet the one people would want the most is the legacy poodle. BTW, since you don't have a thread for your 6 crew patches, I'll ask it here. Could you make a 6 crew or 8 crew patch for the Hitchiker Containment module and a 3 crew or 4 crew patch for the lander can.
  22. Nice, we've had the upvote tracker for some time, and now we can finally sort by it! This is the kind of thing I wish I had thought of.
  23. 1.0 and 0.9 were the biggest leaps forward. I liked 1.0 the most because of the improved aerodynamics. Not everyone liked that change, though. (For those of us who previously used FAR, it was simply using the same flight and design techniques.)
