Welcome to the forums! Maximus97 has already pointed out the Italian subforum, if you ever want to discuss the game with your compatriots in your own native tongue. Beyond that, feel free to share your experiences or ask questions as much as you wish, either there or elsewhere on the forums. We don't bite!

My Year 6 Class will be learning with Kerbal...
Specialist290 replied to SmarterThanMe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I like seeing little educational projects like these. I'll be keeping an eye on this myself Feel free to make use of any of the resources listed on the Drawing Board (link in my signature), whether by referring your students directly to them or as an inspiration for material to cover in your lesson plans. In particular, I think you might find MyKSPCareer and Fly On Budget! to be especially handy references for the general concepts and a few specific formulas. -
I recall someone had a thread somewhere in the mists that had an archive of all the old "free" versions of the game (0.8 - 0.13.3), but I seem to have misplaced the link for it. As for the rest, if you didn't save archives of them while they were already available, then they're probably lost.

Welcome to the forums! Your English actually seems to be quite good for a non-native speaker. I can confirm that it's much better than my Korean, at least Since you're new to the game, I'm going to recommend that you check out the Drawing Board, which is conveniently linked in my signature below. I've tried to collect the best and most useful tutorials I could find into one place, and many of them are written specifically with new players in mind. Don't be afraid to ask questions in the Gameplay Questions forum as well, if you need any assistance. Hope this helps!

Welcome to the forums! Thing is, your avatar and your profile picture are actually two separate things. (Yes, it's confusing.) You should be able to set an avatar through the "Edit Avatar" option in the sidebar of your Settings page.

Most likely. I know normal moderators automatically have 5 rep-giving power regardless of their own reputation level, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Global Moderators have an even higher one.

It varies a bit, since I swap mods in and out as it strikes my fancy, but the ones I use on a pretty regular basis include: Kerbal Engineer Redux Kerbal Alarm Clock TAC Fuel Balancer PreciseNode Deadly Reentry Continued RealChute Editor Extensions Procedural Fairings

Careful checking of the records reveals that OP has not posted since 2011. I've also zapped the d/l link since it was reported to be malicious. Discussion of further projects should probably have their own threads. Thread closed. Y'all have a nice day

Alright, we're back in business. I just removed about a page's worth of posts that had descended into a rather heated discussion that was entirely tangential to the point of this thread at best. The rest of the moderation staff and I will be considering how best to follow up on specific instances, but while I've got the attention of the thread as a whole: First, when someone offers their services to create content at your request on the condition that requests follow certain guidelines, please respect their wishes. Don't belabor the point by arguing your point loudly, publicly, and incessantly long after it's clear that your request goes against those guidelines and is not going to be worked on while hoping against hope that you'll eventually wear them down; not only is that rude to the creator and those other patrons who are politely making their own requests, but if carried far enough it can also be considered user harassment, which is a violation of the Community Rules. Second, if you do witness a thread beginning to degenerate beyond the bounds of reasonable and civil discussion, please bring the offending posts to our attention with the Report Post button conveniently found in the lower-left corner of the post, the triangle with the "!" on it right next to the "Add Reputation" star. While we appreciate that many of you have the community's best interests in mind, we have tools at our disposal that enable us to handle these situations in a much more substantial fashion than the average user, and we can do so much more quickly if vigilant users bring our attention to problematic posts before the situation has a chance to snowball. Don't try to do our jobs for us; you'll just drive yourself crazy. Having said that, let's all take a moment to relax, collect our thoughts, and get back to the business of enjoying frizzank's creations

Portable version of KSP?
Specialist290 replied to Secret Combo's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Welcome to the forums! Once you have the game directory downloaded onto your hard drive, you can copy it to and run it from anywhere you wish, provided you have the space to hold it (~500 MB or so, last I checked my own folder). It should be entirely possible to run a copy from a USB drive if the drive itself can actually hold the game. -
Welcome to the forums! Glad to hear you've been enjoying the game.

My Multi-Threaded Woes...
Specialist290 replied to BustyLoliChan's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Welcome to the forums! Multicore support has been suggested several times before. Unfortunately, that seems to be an issue that's out of the KSP development team's hands, since the version of PhysX used in the current build of the Unity engine doesn't support multithreading at this point. I know it's a bit of a cliche at this point to foist the blame on someone else for this, but for the moment the devs' hands are tied. -
Sounds like you might find alexmun's KSP Launch Window Planner useful. It allows you to plug in a specific "earliest departure date" to help you find the closest window, and the output also gives you an "ideal departure" that has the ideal departure date and ejection angle. You don't have to get it perfect, but it'll give you a good idea of how to set it up for best results.

Eve Highest point coords?
Specialist290 replied to The Destroyer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Alright. I haven't done much with Eve recently myself, so you may be right. -
Having trouble getting off Laythe
Specialist290 replied to Mitchz95's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
A while back I put together a handly little atmospheric pressure table for all the bodies that have atmospheres. Without going into the math, Laythe's atmo starts out a little bit thinner and thins out a little more quickly than Kerbin's does. The ~8-11km bracket on Kerbin (where I typically start most of my gravity turns myself) is roughly within the same pressure range as the ~5-8km bracket on Laythe. Other than that, if your launch profile works for Kerbin, it'll probably work well for Laythe (barring piloting errors, of course). -
Eve Highest point coords?
Specialist290 replied to The Destroyer's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I think it's just a side-effect of the distortion you're guaranteed to get from projecting the surface of a sphere onto a flat plane. It's been acknowledged as a rather tricky thing to get right for centuries, which is why we have so many different types of map projections (because some are better for certain purposes than others). -
Suggestion for part physics
Specialist290 replied to Scir16v's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Welcome to the forums! The idea of combining parts so that they're handled as one part by the physics engine is one that has come up several times in the past -- so many, in fact, that we had to put it on our What Not To Suggest list so that the Suggestions forum wouldn't get absolutely swamped with them. In light of that, I'm going to be closing this thread. Please rest assured that this isn't a strike against the quality of the suggestion itself; it's just a topic that's already been discussed very extensively in the past. -
Welcome to the forums! Glad to hear that you've been enjoying the game. You say you've visited almost all of the different bodies in the game; do you have a particular "favorite" that you like to visit more than any of the others? Feel free to contribute where you can!

Very close. Close enough that I'm going to count it, in fact. It wasn't the wave itself so much that gave it away as it was the way he held the bags -- he had been trained to always salute a superior officer whenever he passed unless he was doing something that required both hands. Since the grocery bags were light enough that he didn't need both hands to carry them, he would carry them with his left hand while leaving his right hand free for the salute. Since he had been doing this for years without thinking about it, he didn't even think of it as one of the things that might give him away. Of course, the person who found him out had also been a military veteran who had been trained to do the same thing, so he spotted it right away. Congratulations, StrandedonEarth

Endless Space vs. Galactic Civilizations 2
Specialist290 replied to Legendary Emu's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, I think that's something basically endemic to the genre. You can mitigate it by adjusting the starting setup in most of them, of course. I found GalCiv2 to be quite enjoyable, myself. Haven't tried Endless Space yet, but it's been on my radar for a bit. EDIT: And not meaning to complicate your choices further, but you may want to investigate Sword of the Stars as well. -
It should be in the proper place now

Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately autopilots are one of the items on our What Not To Suggest List, as we've had countless requests for them in the past. Therefore, I'll be locking this thread up.

It wouldn't have been anything quite that obvious. Remember, this guy was careful... Although obviously, he did let one very minor clue slip despite that. Nope, the thing that gave him away was something much more close at hand. And all the clues are there, although you might have to piece them together from what you know of our agent It could have been the bus driver, if he had the right sort of background. It definitely wasn't the contact turning traitor, though; he already knew that the agent was a spy, since he was passing the information along, and thus wouldn't have needed to rely on the clue to betray his associate. He would have just turned himself in and asked for clemency in exchange for giving up the agent's identity. Hehe Anyway, I'll give out a hint to help narrow things down, since this seems to be a bit more of a stumper than I anticipated: The clue that gave him away is tied to a particular practice that had been so drilled into the agent's head during his training and career that it had almost become a reflex.
