OK I take it all back. We're all doomed.
-
For those who are concerned about the "You're not allowed to copy it" clause, it was in the old EULA as well, but the FAQ on the main page says: Other questions are answered there as well: Source: https://kerbalspaceprogram.com/en/?page_id=19
-
Gotcha. Yes that was unfortunate indeed.
-
@scimas, don't worry man, I'm on your side. Sorry if it appeared as though I was putting words in your mouth - it wasn't intentional. If you would like to see the terms again for screenshots etc, you can go to the top of the page and click "Guidelines". P. S. I made a small edit to your post to make it in line with those guidelines (PM me if you don't get what I mean)
-
@severedsolo with names like that, context is everything. Fanny Kerman as a name in an innocent setting should be absolutely fine. But if someone starts making dirty jokes about them, that will be absolutely not OK.
-
Sounds like a job for... Is it a bird? a plane? No, it's @ManeTI!
-
Ah right, in that case I understand what the concern was all about. The add-on rules have not been changed since November 2017, and the only change back then was to add 1.1 about including other licensed work with your add-on. But you weren't to know that until agreeing to the terms. Yes, I can see that must have been disturbing. Heh, I never noticed that. Thanks for pointing it out - I will pass that along

@frizzank has kindly provided new download links, which have been added to the OP. He also says:
-
Are you referring to the links at the bottom of the page - these ones? None of those are rules you must read and agree to in order to access the forums. Or do you mean at the top of the page? Those links lead off-site, and I'd be very surprised if they didn't work without first agreeing to the guidelines. Also, just to confirm that the forum rules that you all just agreed to haven't changed - they just refer to TakeTwo instead of Squad. EDIT: I guess you missed the outcry before they clarified that They previously also had an "All Your Stuff Are Belong To Us" clause.
-
Yes I understand. I was merely pointing out that so far, Squad hasn't taken a bunch of MIT-licensed mods and started selling them, even though they are legally allowed to. I'm not sure why they would start doing that, and I'm also quite sure that any change to the EULA doesn't trump the license you choose for your mod.
-
To be fair, the MIT license you have chosen for Monthly Budgets allows for more than merely redistribution. It also allows anyone (Squad, Take Two, Microsoft, me - anyone at all) to take your mod , change it, modify it, keep it the same and sell it - pretty much anything. The new EULA/ToS doesn't affect that in any way. If you have concerns that someone will take your mods and make money from them, might I suggest a more restrictive license like GPL (which could force Squad to make KSP open source if they incorporated your mod into it) or CC BY-NC, which prevents commercial use? ARR works too, but it's very restrictive - it doesn't even allow a person to send a copy to a friend if the download link fails.
-
@adsii1970 Oh right, now I know what you mean. That feature was there before, but I have no idea if it was limited to moderators because I only discovered it a relatively short time ago. My location in that list is all over the place and not at all accurate.

Where's this?

There is no problem reawakening an old thread if you are adding something useful and the thread doesn't contain out-of-date information. Remember guys, necroing isn't automatically against the rules, but necroMOANING is.

Good mods for recreating "The Martian"
Deddly replied to Trexinator's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I don't think that mod was available in 2016 -
Thanks for that, @frizzank! Do you mind if I add that to the OP of your thread, or shall I unlock it so you can do that yourself?

Hi! Welcome to the wonderful world of KSP! Here are a few thoughts that hopefully can help you to make your decision: I run KSP on integrated graphics HD520. I usually get no graphics slowdown (I get the green clock) when I play at the lowest resolution in 4:3 format. If I install mods that add clouds etc, I notice the performance decrease. So that part really depends on how important the graphics are to you. As for that particular laptop you link to, the screen resolution is 1366x768, which is fine for KSP for pretty rubbish for anything else. The CPU is fine. Two cores is plenty enough for KSP, since it still mainly uses a single core for physics, and those 2.5 Ghz i5 CPUs are much faster today than they used to be. I have an older version of that same CPU and it does fine for large vessels with hundreds of parts. If you want to build massive stations with part numbers in the thousands, you might want more performance. The Hard drive might let you down. After experiencing the difference that an SSD makes, I don't want to ever go back to using an HDD. It will work just fine, but virtual memory and loading will bog your system down. Having said that, when you are buying a laptop in that price range, you will have to make some compromises. How much can you afford? EDIT: Oh, and I moved the thread to the Lounge, since it's not a suggestion for KSP development
-
Nicely laid out release there, @dundun92. You mention that you have included "Mouse Aim Flight, All rights reserved, specific permission needed". Since All Rights Reserved (ARR) means that redistribution is normally not allowed, please can you confirm that you have specific permission to include it with this pack? Also one small thing. Instead of writing "contributors", can I suggest you write "Mod List" or something like that? I say that because "contributors" makes it sound like each of the people in that list are actively suppporting the pack by sending you their mods.
-
Hi @dundun92, looks like you put a lot of thought into that. Please remember to follow the add-on posting rules - especially this part: So I think the best thing to do is make a thread releasing your pack in the Add-on Releases forum and include a list of all the mods included along with a note about their various licenses. Is that OK?

KSP Enhanced Edition 1st Patch is live!

For those of you having problems with Time warp in space and other serious problems, I have heard reports that disabling Advanced Tweakables seems to solve a number of issues. Maybe that can help you as a temporary workaround? I note that they say this is the first patch, so it looks like they are still working on some things. -
It depends on when you bought it. Did you buy the game before it was available on Steam? If you did, then you have the option to transfer it. Otherwise, it's not possible.

Oh right, you'll have to pay for it if you want it, sorry, because only early adopters who bought the game in alpha back in 2013 get the expansion pack free.
