Well spotted, @PhysicsBrain! Although it happens quite often in KSP, many people have never noticed it :).
-
Well it's not actually theft if the license allows it, @DoctorDavinci. But that's the big issue here, isn't it? @ForumUser, these mods are not public domain. Do you understand how complicated licensing is, even for free material? Please read this page. Ok, now, after reading that page, are you willing and able to make sure that all mod packs that are added to your site comply with that complicated web of mixed-licensing rules? If you are not willing to check through each and every mod pack manually to compare conflicting licenses and enforce it on your web site, are you prepared for actual legal action and defending yourself in court with the possibility of facing a fine or even a prison term, if some of the mod creators were to sue you? If you're not willing to do any of the above, then it really isn't a good idea to set up that web site, and then perhaps you can understand why so many people are against the idea.

It's a pretty good rule of thumb, but interestingly, not as much as it used to be. Single-core performance is very important for quite a number of things apart from KSP, and on that measure, hardware has been becoming obsolete much slower since multicore became the standard.
-
Possibly, but don't let the clock speed fool you. See if you can find some reliable benchmarks, for example Passmark here. Look for what it says about single-thread performance and compare different CPUs side by side. Also, do let us know what you find :). Hmmm, according to Passmark, the i3 7350K that you mention is right at the top of the list, even higher than the i7 7700K. Of course, benchmarks don't tell the whole story, either, but it's a good indication!

Hi there, @Gerry! First of all, welcome to the forum, I hope you'll enjoy your stay here! Now onto your question. Although improvements have been made, KSP still runs best on a processor that has plenty of power for single-threaded applications. That means that lots of cores aren't going to help. I'm sure that there are others who can give a more detailed answer than that, but I hope that gets you off in the right direction to start with. Edit: actually, I'm surprised that your current machine gets such poor performance because that sounds worse than my old dual core laptop... It might be throttling performance because of the heat. Have you tried opening it up and cleaning all the vents and fans from dust?

DarkMultiplayer and BD Armory not working well.

Hi @midnightzero, welcome to the forum! It feels like your post would fit better in Add-on discussion, so I moved it here. Hope that you get the help you need here! -

It's things like this that almost make me start installing mods. Beautiful, and I want it!
-
@Nertea I think that's the kind of package that doesn't cause any problems and should be OK even if there were a ban on mod packs
-
@ForumUser My apologies, I intended to write "You included a mod that was bad? Why would you do that?" Everyone else, this user can take it with me privately, please don't ask for specifics on this thread
-
You included a mod that was bad in a mod pack? Why would you do that? Content providers get to decide themselves what can and can't be done with their software. That's not dodgy tactics, that is their right. If someone has done something truly bad, please PM me and we can discuss it.

There are some seriously crazy things that you'll come accross out on the World-Wide Web - be careful out there. Some of those things are not only against logic and common sense, they are also against our forum rules, so for that reason I trimmed a few posts. Please PM me if you have any questions, thanks! Oh and by the way, the worst thing is that they allow children to handle dihidrogen monoxide at school!
-
But the key is, since we have a rule against it, users are encouraged to report it - and they do - so that the moderators can remove it from the forum.

@Tex_NL, I think the intent of Sal's post is quite clear. Such things can be banned on this community, like piracy that you mentioned Edit: in answer to the question, @sal_vager, I'm torn. On the one hand, the reasons you give are important ones. On the other hand, making a modpack is a simple way for a non-programmer to feel that they are offering something to the community. It's also a way for someone on Youtube to say "download this to play the same game I'm playing." I'm really torn about this...

No outright ban on reaction images... http://giphy.com/gifs/party-EMagb4SC9LAU8
-
@passinglurker we try to aim less for oppression and more for protection, reactive rather than proactive, if you know what I mean? You're referring to something that has happened one time. Imagine if we were to add a rule each time someone does something we don't like.

The cockpit has the Rockomaximus flag, so it must be the one they used for the fake contract. I agree it's not completely clear in the comic, but that cockpit survived whilst Evil Kenlie's ship appears to be destroyed, along with Evil Kenlie, since Kenlie can throw away the agonizer. It was quite funny that Jeb called out "Neelik", because that's also the name attached to that fake contract . The monolith did indeed lock the persistence file, which has apparently delayed the hatching of the Kracken egg. The Ghost is orbiting and bombarding Kerbin, which is a long way away from this event .

As @Streetwind points out, lots of things have changed in the three years since @Lar-E asked his question. But it's good we got this clarified so people can get the correct answer if they do a Good search. Well done, everyone! .

@The_Rocketeer I think that barring having a set of rules as extensive as the Library of Congress, the only way to make it exactly clear and cover all possible contingencies is to add the human element, like we have done: Hopefully the spirit of the guidelines is clear enough, but the moderators will step in if they have to. Edit: I misread your post. You want less specifics. I'm not sure I understand, in that case. Can you explain?

A few posts moved into a separate thread

Some posts split into a new topic in Add-on Discussions

@Elthy Discussion of Creationism would come under 2.2b "Political, ideological or religious posts unrelated to Spaceflight, or of a nature deemed likely to result in behavior banned under rule 2.2D " People were getting punished because of being fans of a mod. Not all modders dislike people asking about updates, in fact, some love to be reassured that people are looking forward to seeing the results of their hard work. Rude requests and problem posts like repeatedly poking a modder (or, presumably, any content provider) for updates can be reported as usual and might be dealt with as harrassment, depending on the extent and apparent intent. If your thread gets cluttered up with people asking for updates, we can also remove some to keep it tidy for you, just add your request in a report or PM and we can look into it. It's usually OK for someone to kindly point out in the thread that the OP asks for no update requests. EDIT: Another problem with that rule was that we kept getting posts reported that were not breaking any rules because it was misunderstood so much.

The guidelines were a bit unclear on a few points for everyone, including moderators. Hopefully it's better now. It's all in the announcement, really: "We hope that these new guidelines will make it easier for regular users to understand what is appropriate conduct for our community and for moderators to moderate in moderation."
