Ahha! What did you change on your machine before this started to happen? You are missing huge chunks of files from your install. This is not a Squad issue, there is something on your machine messing up your install. There is some 3rd party app playing around where it shouldn't. Did you download a whole new ~800mb file, or install from the cache?

Please Help I Forgot How To Play
Gargamel replied to Kerbinchaser's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
This should be included in game somewhere. I will often exit a room through the same door I entered it. C to enter IVA, C to exit IVA :D. -
The 2mm IS the pilot hole for something bigger. You use a center punch to place the 2mm hole. And as I said, the only conclusion I am reaching is that this is clearly not just a correctly drilled hole in the wrong spot.

I swear to god I am having the mental image of SP being able to control SAS, but then again, I could be just imagining it.

Backing up what cheese has said, in the past this issue has been caused by a messed up stock install. Which was caused by some third party software mucking around where it shouldn't. Clean out everything KSP related. Everything. Even other software that might affect it. Download a new clean install of KSP, don't use a cached or previously downloaded version. Install it. Airgap your machine. As in, disconnect it from the internet. Turning off the wifi or unplugging the cable would suffice. This is just a safety measure as I'm going to ask you to turn off your anti-virus apps. Run KSP. Run it a few times. If it works a few times, turn your AV back on. See if it still works a few times. Now reconnect to the internet as desired. Test again. If it crashes, just remember what you turned on right before it crashed, and then we can look into that.

I don't know if stock can be done with action groups, as I have always had MJ when trying this. But, MJ Smart ASS can be triggered by action groups, which is just basically SAS on steroids. Push comes to shove, if you need action group SAS, you can install MJ and run only that for your needs.

With the Doc having had a family member fall ill, and I wish them the best in that regards, it seems he has taken his toys and gone home. BDA is one of the major mods for KSP, just wondering how it will fair in the Doc's absence?

I have issues with the "misplaced hole"' theory. The marks around the supposed pilot hole are not indicative of a skilled technician. Usually when drilling holes in specific locations, the location is clearly measured and marked, and then a small center punch is used to create a small divot or hole itself in the desired location. This center punch is much easier to exactly line up on the mark, and then a tap with a hammer leaves the intended indent. Then you drill using the indent to keep the pilot hole bit in place. That pilot hole is then used to drill the final hole if it requires a much larger size. This way, the center of the hole is exactly where it needs to be, and the drill bits will not walk across the surface of the material. You can clearly see the walk marks across the surface here. It also appears to me that the hole is not square to the surface of the material, indicating the drill was held at an angle to the surface, which again indicates an unskilled hand. This just may be an artifact of the photo angle though. Also, you can see the surface paint on the bigger holes was applied after they were drilled, where as the smaller hole was obviously drilled later. These photos show an unskilled hand tried to drill these. The marks indicate there was no center hole to keep the bit in place, and the driller did not really care where the hole ended up, as long as there was a hole., and that they were in a rush to get it done quickly. All of these indications would also occur if somebody was not properly braced in a zero g environment. I am making no conclusions here, other than the idea that this was a factory worker who misread a print is very hard to believe, as they would have started to drill the hole properly before realizing their mistake.

If your sat doesn't have the fuel to make the needed plane change, you'll have to launch it again. But this time, wait till the intended orbit is over the KSC (or at least close to it, the act of launching alters your actual orbit some, and I'm not good at explaining how to do it), and then launch in the correct direction (N v S). This way, it will only require small amounts of dV to match the orbit once you're up there.

Firefox updated within the last few hours (Aug 7, 2018, ~2100 EST), and now it thinks every word I type is mispelled, with no corrections available. This happening to anybody else? Test Test Test I guess rebooting it fixed it. Carry on then, nothing to see here.

 Not sure if anybody has ever gone to the center of the planet. This I'm interested to see. And for some reason, this firefox update has deleted my dictionary, it thinks every word I type is mispelled.

Take a look at this, IIRC he does delve into some of your questions (video I mentioned before): -
Any mod to place notes for later reference?
Gargamel replied to Maestro22's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
One other solution that I use is to use KAC. I set a timed alarm on a vessel or kerbal, depending on what I need, and just let it expire and get greyed out. In the alarm edit section, there is a place to write notes, I add a bit a text for whatever I want. That way I have a list of vessels in KAC that don't have any hard time limits, but have notes attached to them so I can remember why they were doing what ever they were doing. This does not prevent you from creating new node alarms or what not. I also use it to just remember certain vessels exist, like rovers I have sitting planets, or crewed vessels that I parked in an orbit somewhere till I could find time to get to them. -
Remedy for rubberbanding on inline structure
Gargamel replied to Jestersage's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I believe that most ships built under KJR would still be playable as a stock ship. Yes, it might be a bit wobbly, but should still be usable, but it really depends on the ship itself. I would think a warning in a download saying it was built with KJR should suffice to warn players when sharing the craft. Personally, I consider KJR and a couple other mods to be my version of stock, as they just make the overall game better. But that's an argument for a different thread.... -
Planetary exploration parts
Gargamel replied to Cassel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
You're right, there isn't a good heavy rover cabin in stock. But given the course of the game's development, I don't foresee any planetary exploration parts like you describe being added to the stock game in the foreseeable future, without additional gameplay mechanics also being included. Similar to how ISRU and the Klaw were added along with Asteroids, IIRC. They would need to add something for the heavy rover to do. Maybe they do have something in the works along these lines, maybe they don't. But something like a new parts pack would be most likely released as a DLC, to help cover the development costs. But then, that falls back to the argument about them not releasing DLC that is already covered by a variety of mods, as there would not be enough sales to cover the costs. Yes, the consoles need DLC's to function like mods, but the market share of consoles vs PCs (et al) is rather small, so even those sales wouldn't cover the development and now porting costs. Unless, of course, there is a new game mechanic included that makes planetary exploration a real thing, and one not currently doable with mods. Then a whole pack would make sense as a DLC. But don't hold your breath. We don't know what's on the KSP roadmap for Squad. It will probably be some time before we would get something like this. Until that time, if you want to find the parts you have described, do take a look at some of the mods listed above. -
That was my first thought... especially when Dman posted here...
