  1. What if the only way to properly tell you you're wrong about dislikes is to dislike your post without comment, but I can't do that because it's disabled? I JUST BLEW YOUR MIND.
  2. Any chance you do anything like routing fuel into those 2 tanks from one tank, and then into 1 tank from those 2 tanks? That's been an issue for quite some time and the only fix I know of - outside of using a fuel balancing mod like GPO - is to not do it.
  3. Disclaimer: I don't run Linux so I'm going to answer like you're on Windows. It sounds like you're using the launcher. Don't do that. Not to fix this, just ever. Don't ever use the launcher.
  4. Oh jeez if you want to see Katee Sackhoff on Netflix watch Longmire. It's about as scientifically accurate, but it's not science fiction so it gets leeway. It's also really great.
  5. I didn't hit the skunk with my car. But it would probably have been easier to get the smell out if I had.
  6. You may have officially put the most thought into that name ever. I just think of it as a portmanteau of "Stay put" and "Sputnik" Adding "Don't" would detract from that. Not that it's overly clever or anything
  7. Yeah and it's somewhere around 7% of what you'd get from Mun and less than from Minmus. If you're that close on your Dunpollo or Drespollo mission and still don't have all your parts, THEN it's time to start thinking about a mountain drive.
  8. "Once you have unlocked any docking port, you must also leave a craft in orbit of each world landed on, during the landing." I have not yet unlocked any docking port. Well, NOW I have, and Minpollo (and all further *pollo missions) will have an orbiter.
  9. I much prefer: TWR somewhere around 1.2-1.5 At 50m/s: pitch to 85, ignore your altitude and watch your Apoapsis. From 2km-20km, slowly go to 40 degrees. You want to be heading East at 40 degrees when your Ap hits 20km. Ap 30km, 30 degrees. Ap 40km, 20 degrees. Ap 50km, 10 degrees. Ap 60km+, 0 degrees. Ap at target altitude, cut throttle, coast, circularize, etc. At some point, assuming you have the TWR, your time to Ap will rise past 1 minute. When it does that, I throttle back to 2/3. If it goes up to 90 seconds, I throttle back to 1/3. I'm still not convinced this is super necessary but it mimics a bit what the Mod GravityTurn does.
  10. Okay I finally have my rebooted attempt up, on the YouTubes. In it I am able to save the goo experiments in Kerpollo so I get a little more science than before, but I still use the same Munpollo ship I used the first time, except reworking the top to remove the Stayputnik. And forget to put a decoupler between the pod and the rest of the ship. It'll be fine. Surely. Note in the video you see me land, take off, and land again on Mun. This isn't biome hopping, I just wasn't comfortable getting out of the ship at that angle. I only "hopped" about 10 meters away, to land with my ship lengthwise down the hill.
  11. @qzgy has it. It's one LANDING per trip (well 2 if you count landing on Kerbin at the end). Everything else is fair game. Also, "Fill out the science tree" is a nice personal goal but is not actually a goal of the challenge. You'll need a lot of the high tech parts for your Jool 5 and Eve runs (at least, I will) but if you don't need a node and don't have the science, you'll still win the challenge. And when I did it unrecorded, my Duna mission (which I did after Dres, Eeloo, and Moho so all that was left was Jool and Eve) I unlocked the entire tree. So I can't see how you'll not unlock it all even missing out on some. And to just state it: Feel free to do the science when you encounter these other bodies. Your call, if you put it here put it in a spoiler, and use jpgs please. If you post your own thread of course link to it here
  12. I know what you mean. I took the opportunity granted with my forced restart to record it instead of taking screenshots.
  13. So I violated 2 of my rules. One of them was to make a backup before launch. I figured it wasn't important because come on I was just going to Mun. The other was I put a probe core on my ship. I wasn't using it as a probe core, but instead as it (the Stayputnik) was the lightest size-0 part I had to put on my ship as a nosecone at that low tech. I realized this was a violation about 10 seconds after landing back on Kerbin, and my oldest backup is from Mun orbit, after landing. So, I'll be starting over from scratch. I guess it could be worse, I could have done it on my Jool 5 mission. And a well done attempt it is! I love science cars, I don't know why. I should probably start the leaderboard or something!
  14. There is a setting in settings.cfg that doesn't seem to have a radio button in the in-game settings. YOuo could require that be set. However, I'm personally fine with people knowing their dV even in this challenge. Not sure which, but it's one of these: DELTAV_CALCULATIONS_ENABLED = True DELTAV_APP_ENABLED = True
  15. I hate to say it but yes, it would. Though I'd totally love to see it!
  16. I've like to note that I'm not asking for vacuum to be the default. I'm asking for the ability for me to make it the default for myself. And you bring up a good point. You should be able to set the VAB and SPH defaults individually.
  17. It was in like 23.5 or something. I've tried to recreate it in more recent versions with... Limited success.
  18. Sorry it's been a busy 24 hours. Extra launch sites are out. They're new enough I forgot about them. No bonus for skipping the grind. I'm skipping it too and so far not missing it.
  19. I just checked KSPedia to make 100% sure, and yes, you are mistaken about what we want I know that you can set it in the little dV tool. What I want is to not have to set it. I want to be able to tell the game to default to Vacuum dV, so I don't have to go into the tool every time and set it. To be clear, I almost never care what my atmosphere dV is, and when I do, I expect to have to go in to the setting. But by default, I want Vacuum readouts.
  20. Naked eye. The problem was, the majority of the time that viewing was good, the tail was directly away from Earth. And the times when it wasn't, well Seattle is not well known for clear skies
  21. I was a bit terse in my reply. I mean if you ignore the texture the tank is vertically symmetrical, while the cabin is not due to the hatch. If I'm still wrong I will take it back. I could see maybe if the tank has more lift one way or the other, I don't know. but it's visually the same that's for sure.
  22. It never occurred to me that you could stop tracking an asteroid that you had clawed to. I figured that at the point you entered its physics bubble, it became a craft and you were stuck with it. You can find out yourself by looking for it in the persistent file after you stop tracking it and it goes away from the tracking station.
  23. I don't agree with the decision on their part, but it's obviously working as designed. I mean, they had to actively make the texture flip and they must have had some reason to desire it.
