I got the impression that it was quite well thought through, and as opposed as you are to limiting fun, I'm opposed to shoveling tons of extra work on the volunteers who make this site run. Note: not only did I not frequent that forum, but I'm not a moderator so don't know any details. I just know that generally people are jerks to moderators and moderators frequently just have to suck it up, take it, and keep doing the work for free.

I assume he's talking about RP in the RB subforum, which is now not a thing.
-
Oh I know. And when I'm more confident that theory and actuality will be the same, I'll be less likely to think possibly clicking "submit reply" will cause my post to look different than the preview.

This is the Internet. Angry criticism grows on trees and positive comments are rare if present at all. Also, we're a huge group of introverted nerds who are set in our ways. No change will ever sit well with anything even approaching a majority of us. They held back on the change as long as was reasonable, but eventually you just have to snap that bone and get it done with. So it's ugly. It's configurable. So you're missing features X, Y, and Z. They're addable. Give it time.

I'm not a mod but I can answer this one: Yes. Source: That's exactly what's in my bookmark for the KSP forums. It's the page I go to first every time I visit the site. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19i0NsNqWAo I'm a ninja. No, the way to do it is to NOT HIT ENTER after you paste the youtube link into the post. How do you get around that? Why, hit enter before, and then go up and paste the link. This is all assuming the forum won't convert it afterwards, of course. With no "preview" option I'll have to assume that I'll get what I'm seeing.

Petition: Return to VBulletin!
Superfluous J replied to MedwedianPresident's topic in Kerbal Network
Quote someone, and cut their quote into 5 pieces so you can answer them inline, in turn. Bonus points if you can do it without using your mouse. Post no text but 3 YouTube videos. Then, change your mind and put the bottom one on the top. Post a table and then later on change whether or not it's bordered, or how many columns it has. Some of this can be done in the new forum. Some of it can't. All of it is easier if you have access to the source code. Note: This is just the stuff I've noticed in the past day or so, of fairly limited forum use. I'm not even bringing up how hard it is to format my Squadcast Summaries now because I'd have to highlight a whole bunch of stuff and manually change the color to green over and over, instead of a quick and simple search/replace in Notepad++ before copy/pasting the workable code into the forum. Well okay I did mention it but I understand it's an edge case so am fine with just not doing it aymore. The things I posted above, on the other hand, are things you could want to do on a regular basis. -
Now that I've changed the forum colors and default font to my liking I'm much happier with it as well. Add a "code" (i.e. non-wysiwyg) option and I'll forget VBulletin even existed.

[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements

PSST read the first post on how to report bugs. -
@Arcwolf you are my hero. That plugin rocks and now the forum looks awesome. Verdana by default, and a bit bigger for my poor old eyes. It's like ModuleManager for the forum!
-
That is very nice. Almost as nice as the ability in the old forum to manually edit the quotes to split them up into separate pieces

Also it's "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy." The field is too vast to have just one, and vague to define exactly what you mean by "Space Movie." E.T. comes from space, but the movie never showed anything outside of Earth's atmosphere. Iron Man and Iron Man 2 went higher up, could they be "Space" movies?

Designflaws of the new forum on smartphones
Superfluous J replied to Elthy's topic in Kerbal Network
In theory your post is its own preview (though the actual post does look different. I have edited posts immediately after posting, so not sure what the problem is there for you. EDIT: See? -
Give them a frickin couple of days people are saying lots of things!

Designflaws of the new forum on smartphones
Superfluous J replied to Elthy's topic in Kerbal Network
I actually really liked the mobile version of this site. Far better than the last one, that I always browsed in "website" mode with lots of resizing and whatnot. I browse the forums oddly, though. I never go to the list of forums and subforums, for example. -
Ships for Dres and further
Superfluous J replied to Billyk88's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Using just stock parts (but lots of other mods) I went to all planets and moons with land-and-return missions back in 0.25. I've considered doing it again. My current (though on-hold due to Fallout 4) series is doing similar, but in the New Horizons system. Anyway, here are a few of my videos. You may need to trade dV for aerodynamics to get them into orbit, but once there I bet they'd mostly work still. -
It's Arial. Helvetica Neue isn't an option on my dropdown. I typed this in default. I typed this formatted Arial. Here's a screengrab. See the big blue dot right in front of the "[" ? It's a star if you've posted in the thread, too.

Note: These are actual bugs, not just some guy complaining that you broke his favorite toy 1) Images not loading slows down the loading of the entire page. I found this out by inadvertently using an image from the internet archive in my signature. 2) Editing an image that is also a url link using the ctrl-right-click editing tool does not let you change the image. It says it's changing the image, but instead is changing the link. This may be specific to when those image links are copy/pasted from another site and not using the forum editing tools. 3) (not image related and just noticed now) The forum will break works up over line endings. If we're forcing 2-line paragraph breaks as the default because the other way is old school, shouldn't we also eschew the old practice of wrapping a single word across 2 lines?

Known workarounds for new WYSIWYG editor
Superfluous J replied to damerell's topic in Kerbal Network
Me too! I actually just learned this from another thread and you replied before I could come back here. apparently you can cut everything after the first letter. So 126596 doesn't work, 126596- (what I did before) doesn't work, but 126596-t would have worked. -

That link appears broken. Error code 2T187/2 Though don't bother if it's "Make a picture out of your text." -
Other than all the other things (no forum-code option, too white/bright, too much whitespace) I don't like: 1. When you click "Next page" on a thread it does this weird "I'm scrolling really fast" thing that is disjointing. 2. You can't hide images like the old forums allowed. At least, I can't find it. Note: A lot of the "it's ugly" problems would be fixed by allowing users to set their own preferences. In particular, I'd set the default font to Verdana instead of Arial. I'm almost sure the old forums' default font was Verdana. I'm totally sure Verdana is the best font for forums, and all online communications. This paragraph, for example, is in Verdana and my eyes feel better reading it.

Petition: Return to VBulletin!
Superfluous J replied to MedwedianPresident's topic in Kerbal Network
Here are 3, then: No way, mate. They're not going back. Put your effort into making these forums better. You're petitioning your father to go back to the gas guzzling, safety-rule breaking A-Team van that you loved riding in but could have killed you if it didn't irreparably break down somewhere, instead of trying to convince him to replace it with a better car than that Kia hatchback he thinks is so cool. (Yeah my analogy broke down a little there but analogies are like oceans) -

I am particularly interested in any way to get more than 2 line of text to the right of the image in my signature. -
Squadcast Summary for 2015/11/26 - The News-Free Edition
Superfluous J replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I will continue to do the asides and commentary, if only so there's SOMETHING to post. Also, if people complain enough maybe they'll give us some non-wysiwyganm* editing choices. Also, I like doing them. I like them separate, more than all mashed together, but I like them mashed together than not there at all. *what you see is what you get and no more -
Found it. It's the dot between the avatar of the last poster and the thread title. And here's a tip: In the upper-right of some screens (this one in particular) there is a "condensed view" button. Makes browsing that page far less white-spacey.
