@DMSP Though I'm no @Parkaboy, I belive he may just be shooting the things toward their destinations, using the MJ advance transfer to planet feature. Yeah, my guess is that's why the lifters and stuff are stuffed with Delta-V. IF they're stuffed with Delta-V.

True, he could be doing that, but maybe @Parkaboy is just leaving the stuff in Orbit to transfer later.

Would be very cool to see some of the solar orbit tracks for the interplanetary voyages! One thing I've learned in play over the last few months is that 'window' is sort of a misnomer. You can always go from any planet to any other planet--the only question is how much dV you want to spend doing it. There are several ways other than Hohmann transfer. Coming back from Eve I used an opposition transfer, burning solar retrograde rather than prograde, passing near Moho's altitude, and finding Kerbin on the other side of the sun. When the Hummlebee came back from Duna I did a two-step transfer, first burning solar prograde to allow Kerbin to 'catch up', and then doing a regular Hohmann transfer from that higher solar orbit. And there are probably a dozen other cleverer ways to do it; you can go crazy dragging patched conics around but that "aha!" moment when you actually find a working "steely-eyed" path is rather wonderful. :)

I'm really impatient to get to the "Kerbin-blows-up" part. I wonder how much colonies the kerbals will have created.

UNLESS

Maybe Kerbin will be saved! Maybe It'll be like in the movies! The thing that was supposed to blow up is actually fine! I really hope that's not gonna happen.

@DMSP There are transfer windows to Eeloo, Dres and Duna before the "doomsday". I'm already putting stuff in orbit to send to Duna, in order to follow the one-launch-every-ten-days self-imposed rule. I spent 100 days putting equipment in LKO to send to Laythe, and will probably spend as much on the Duna mission. I think I'll leave Eeloo for later, since the biggest challenge is to be able to afford enough recruits in this short time.

@Kuzzter Yeah, one does not have to stick to the transfer windows (for instance, I sent the Eve Scanner Sat way before my Eve window), but I'm trying to save on delta-v to keep costs manageable. New recruits are pretty expensive right now, and we got to save as many kerbals as possible.

Loving the Gilly base, and that ship you're sending to Laythe looks pretty cool. Those space planes are not water landers right?

Nope, I'm still playing in 1.0.4. Haven't managed to update yet, there seems to be a conflict with some of the mods. I'll probably give it another try soon, but we won't see water landings on Laythe. Maybe later I can build a boat or something, using OSE workshop.

I'm not, I'm slowly going nuts working on IVAs, even taking a break to work on... an IVA, heh. If I get the Ponderosa's IVA done by Christmas I'll be happy. I know, take my time and all... Anyway, really enjoying how the story is shaping up.

I don't think there would be anyone calling shenanigans if you did a funds edit, bought a bunch of recruits, then put the funds back the way they were(or perhaps down ~100K/Kerbal hired).

It is not like you would not have hordes of refugees banging on your door to be taken off planet, to taking the best available and running them through a quick training program should not be too expensive.

Alternately you could take a look at the Civilian population mod:

I have not looked into it much, but it seems like it may be appropriate for your goals of a self-supporting off-kerbin civilization.

INCOMPATIBLE FEELINGS:
Love
System overload - does not compute

Nice job with the letter, Parkaboy :) You manage to invoke the feels.
*On a side note, randomness detector detects clone mayhem. And more time travel witchcraft.

*not correct

Amazing update! Really worried for Glery, LOVE the name Feather Base, REALLY looking forward to your Eve landing, and lolz at the snippet of 'Simon and Kerbfunkel' :D One of these sols I'll have to follow @Geschosskopf's example and post the 'songs of Kerbfleet' :)

We actually saw that coming. BECAUSE OF YOUR SPOILER. But a nice graphic novel. You and Kuzzter are at the same level, you for the actuality and realism, and Kuzzter for semi-goofy humor and romance (yes, you heard me Kuzzter.) Like'd!

And just so y'all know, Just Jim is coming up in the rear. Y'all should check it out! It's good!

Wait is that...MECHJEB!!:0.0:
