Saturn "allWhite" Switch (from @sam25544 on discord, reuploaded with permission)

Place inside GameData\Bluedog_DB\Parts\Saturn\Paint

Did they also make an all orange color like the SLS? I know some parts for the Saturn have it already but I do know the S-IC stage does not have it? or only the all white?

No it only includes allWhite, the SOFI S-IC is from another mod that I don't even have

Agreed, it would actually break the feel of the whole mod and require EVERY texture be redone..

I'm not asking for it tho. It's just hurts

Actually, in russian copy of KSP (downloadable through steam game config) not only strings, but also  all textures are localised and quality is suprisingly good ! It came as a suprise for me and acutally motivated me to do localization for NFT suite of mods. It was an amazing feeling!
However, string localisation sometimes can cause some nasty  behavour with some mods i.e. umbra space industries, which checks for engineer's presense through comparison with hardcoded "engineer" string instead of calling proper method to get localized string.

It's actually a tag applied to the individual collider objects in Unity, and can't be changed from cfg or in game at all.

I should clarify - I'm making experiments for each location, I'm just not sure how many or specifically what.

Regarding the X-15 experiments, are you going to implement entirely new experiments or existing experiments?

It appears that all of the parts I installed appear to be locked despite having the required tech tree nodes.

I do have some mods that tamper with the tech tree though so maybe that's causing it?

Barring installation issues, if you’re playing with the setting for individual part unlocks with funds, you’ll still need to go to R&D, unlock the appropriate nodes and purchase each part to use them (or pay for the full node unlock). Otherwise it should be fine with either Community Tech Tree or the stock tech tree. Other third party modded tech trees aren’t supported on our side, if they have issues it’s best to report it to them.

I'm actually unsure what is causing it.

Starting a new save reveals that that the parts that are locked on existing saves have vanished completely on the new save.

Atlas . . . . I'm probably leaning towards allowing surface attach.

fwiw, I've always felt this was the best approach. Not allowing surface attach is annoying.

Regarding the X-15 experiments, are you going to implement entirely new experiments or existing experiments?

I don’t think I’ll need to add new experiments. A lot of these are actually tests of systems that would fly on later missions, so they can use those experiments. There are a couple stock ones, like the atmosphere experiment, that don’t currently have coverage in BDB.

Atlas updates. Aft tank today

eOFki79.png

z0Geu9J.png

kuDz9as.png

We also now have a dedicated mount for Atlas SLV-3X "Fatlas" that can mount H1D. It will match the ring and there's no clipping. This aft tank will fit inside the standard skirt.

ArzHws6.png

The H1D will need to mount at a 45 degree angle (the prop inlet pipes will guide you) and though its close it just about fits

5Lv6C29.png

You may want to lock the gimbal until skirt sep :P

Any plans to make the Gemini heatshields more like the stock ones (if they aren't already)? Last time I tried sending a Gemini spacecraft with the BDB heatshield to Eve on a real close flyby, it exploded during Kerbin reentry.

This sounds kinda dumb but I'm planning on sending a Gemini spacecraft to Duna (with or without MOL) btw

You can zip the log and upload to something like Dropbox or google drive. However first, this is possibly just an issue with Tweakscale - if you have it, I’d suggest fully uninstalling it (and ksp recall) and installing Tweakscale Rescaled instead, it is much more stable than the other version.

i managed to fix it, i just had too many kerbals. thanks for the help

As far as I know, there's nothing different from the stock heatshield.

Here's what I've managed to get in game for the X-15 so far. It looks a lot more complete than it is - this is sort of the bare minimum to get this stuff in game and snapped together. A lot of the parts don't have some or all of their functionality, the aerodynamics are a wreck, etc. What I'm saying is, don't expect a GitHub upload in the next few days.

Yl4N6bb.png

Another variant I think I'm going to do is X-15/SERJ, which is... a fascinating engine. Combine a ramjet and a rocket engine, and then a supercharging fan. It would work like a SABRE/RAPIER engine as a dual-cycle engine.

Modifications to the in-game craft would essentially just be a different ventral fin combined with an air scoop, and a different engine on the back.

For those of you interested in the X-15 (who isn’t???), I can highly recommend the book Hypersonic:  The Story of the North American X-15  by Dennis R. Jenkins and Tony Landis.  It is THE authoritative reference to the aircraft and program, no other book on the subject is necessary, except perhaps for their companion book, the X-15 Photo Scrapbook, a collection of photographs that they weren’t able to fit into the book. Both books are out of print, but copies can be found for reasonable prices. Jenkins is also the author of the three volume magnum opus Space Shuttle: Developing an Icon  1972-2013.  The X-15 book has an exhausting amount of detail, but is well written and readable.

Update - My copy of Hypersonic has arrived and it is INCREDIBLE. I only got to flip through it for a moment but I don't think I've ever bought a reference this dense, with this much detail and this many beautiful images.

But that's not all - a friend ( @Sgt.Shutesie) was able to send a copy of the Photo Scrapbook as well and it should be here soon.

If you like that one, try the space shuttle set. Imagine Hypersonic multiplied by three! It is mind blowing!

Any plans to make the Gemini heatshields more like the stock ones (if they aren't already)? Last time I tried sending a Gemini spacecraft with the BDB heatshield, it exploded during reentry.

This sounds kinda dumb but I'm planning on sending a Gemini spacecraft to Duna (with or without MOL) btw

I have flown hundreds of Gemini missions with the BDB heatshield with no issues. Could you be more specific as to what you are doing?
