I've been getting reports that launching with the X-15 mounted under a wing breaks the drag on those parts... Yeah, doesn't seem to have any issues on my end. With the XLR-99 I can reach space no problem. The steps I take are: Build the launch aircraft first and make sure that can fly. Then assemble the X-15 on the mother aircraft. I did have an issue where if I merge an X-15 save to the mother aircraft save, the X-15 cockpit won't let a kerbal into it. I use a stock Pylon with Decoupler mode off, and a stock radial decoupler to decouple the X-15. During flight, I use Atmosphere Autopilot to keep things stable. For separation, I activate Stock SAS and then decouple the X-15, then deactivate SAS on the mother aircraft so it keeps flying and the X-15 has some stability (AA doesn't stay active for the separated craft) I then switch to the X-15, light the candle, Activate AA, and ZOOOOOOOM

(wanna hurl mercury to Pluto) It's not 1 for 1, but I have this build closely inspired by C8 (especially @GoldForest's C8). It even comes with a direct ascent style lander. There's two versions: The first comes with a pad, the second does not have one if you don't have those particular mods installed. I should let you know that this was tested in the stock kerbol-system. I'm not sure how it'll hold up in real-space/realism/super high difficulty. https://kerbalx.com/ManateeAerospace/C7-DI-761-Pad
Pudgemountain
While waiting for a probe to flyby a mysterious object we call Scourge (Pictures will come either tomorrow or Saturday) We decided to test out a J-2 in Frontier. Still trying to unlock the rest of Saturn. The budget for this test came from a soft drink company in return we have to use their design and slap a logo. Yay product placement. Not gonna orbit, we just wanted to see if a J-2 could work in Frontier.

Edit: Full list of mods used: -BDB -RestockPlus -NFLV There's hidden Reaction control wheels in the top and bottom of the S-IV (Insert letter here) as well as RTGs in the top of same stage. I don't like uncommandable stages floating around and creating a Kessler syndrome situation. Edited May 10, 2024 by GoldForest

You probably ran out of funds for the Fairing because you build those Not scientific, Ugly Rockets that cost too much for what they do and have no way of ever being built in the real world! Ok, Joking aside, I have done the exact thing soo many times!!! Build the rocket and forget to bump the fairing segment count after altering the payload while having the fairing invisible (I mean, I checked it with the previous incarnation of that payload... how did the payload get so much longer?! As an aside, given the insane things I have seen made in KSP your Saturn C-8 is pretty sane by comparison, and probably more effective/efficent to boot. It doesn't belong in a historical or even slightly ab-historical mod pack... but in a What if the world had all the money and wanted to make a big monster to do X it is a valid conceptual product. I dont play in career/science, only Sandbox. So no funds lol The fairings are the standard SLA petals. You can't make em longer. I just thought it would fit... perhaps with baby Centaur, but I want to use full size Centaur. Saturn C-8 is useful for Duna and other deep space missions. Though, I will admit, my C-8 is grossly overpowered. The first stage lasts from ground to damn near atmo exit. Also, I'll say it again. For context, the left one is C-8, the right one is my own C-8B Edited May 11, 2024 by GoldForest

Pudgemountain
The more serious mission to Scourge, no cola bottle this time. Mission: Flyby this mysterious object named Scourge that's between Frontier and Windswept to see what it is. Payload: Ghost, just a Juno Guidence unit with panels and fancy instruments. Launch Vehicle: Titan II with SRB and Centaur. After almost a year of nothing, Ghost finally gets a encounter with Scourge and HOLY $&@^ turns out its a planet. A terrestrial planet with moons. It has rings!!! Closes I came to the planet before dark, I wanted an altitude of 100K but due to a miscalculation the separation of Centaur I got 193K. Can't wait to do more exploration of this planet especially since now I got the parts for Saturn Is. Also this may be my last non commercial launch with Titan II and Titan III for I got a new toy. Spoiler

We, or at least I, want to know if it can do it with the all nat tru rall Skylab. 7 hours ago, bigyihsuan said: The telescope already on its side with an Apollo already docked on top is absolutely cursed lmao Edit: Oh, wait. Did you think I launched the Apollo and Telescope like that? Nah nah nah. The telescope was deployed once Skylab was in orbit around Kerbin and the Apollo launched and met with Skylab on a separate launch before the duo TMI'd (TLI'd) together.
