although I must say that I definitely still off and create to 3D models, but not (yet) for KSP. ..

due to the many details, the 3d-model is become quite extensive footprint ca.33 MB !!

@RaendyLeBeau I have only received three donations to date. One was from an unknown person, the other two were from friends here on the forums to go towards new hardware that I needed. To (mis)quote @Felbourn, 'make mods that you want first, worry about what other people think second'. Make parts you want to be able to use in game. If you've found that you prefer working on other things, do that! Honestly your free time should be filled with the things that you enjoy most. If you're done with KSP modding, I think the community would appreciate it if you make sure someone else is in place to maintain the configs as needed for KSP updates.

EDIT: And that model is awesome! I know the pain of trying to work with files that large. :)

To (mis)quote

Yes, my quote is about making games (since that's my real job) and people often ask me "what is the Blizzard secret why the games are always so good?" My answer is to make games you want to play yourself, the way you want to play them, and hope other people are like you and therefore like the same games you like. Never make something the way someone else is saying it should be. You'll be less passionate about it and your quality will suffer.

In modding, make mods the way you'd want to use them. Make them as enjoyable and perfect in your OWN eyes as you can get them, and then hope other people like the same things you like.

My videos are another example. Some people tell me to stop putting my cartoony interludes in them. Other people tell me they hate the VAB breakdown segments. Other people say I need to make longer Ares episodes. Other people tell me to make my next Alexandria and stop making Ares. Ultimately I will continue to make a show that I'd want to watch if I was not making it, and continue to hope there are other people who are just like me and therefore will enjoy my show, whether that's 13 fans or 13,000 fans.

wow, incredibly, well, it had almost thought that most modders so goes.

at the beginning i was full motivations, after I realized that this free-download-mentality, it is a constant of the time today... currently it lacks my on motivation to sacrifice my free time without a 'Return on investment' (ROI).  ^_^

The great thing about modding is that nobody can make you do it. I wish you the best of luck with wherever your interests take you! :)

and again, I ask that you consider putting the mod up for adoption if you are done with it, so that any interested community members may maintain it.

^^Ditto... (means "likewise", or "I agree, also"... :) )

@RaendyLeBeau Also, if you decide to put this up for adoption, any chance to release what you have already started for AIAKOS, and let someone pick THAT up as well?... Your work is INCREDIBLE, and it would be a shame to let what you've already done, go to waste, if you prefer not to finish it...

@RaendyLeBeau

I hear what you're saying. Modders are incredibly skilled individuals (usually:P) who do what they do with little to no reward. Many who use their mods do not even say thank you to those who give so much to create them.

I try to say thank you at the very least, and moreover, to provide support, feedback, bug reports and enthusiasm when I can. I believe modders should be compensated for their time when and where possible, but sadly, I cannot really afford to donate myself, having been out of work for over a year and unlikely to be able to work any time soon due to health problems.

People treat KSP as just another game, but to me, it's medicine, as I'm quite sick in real life. Without KSP to distract me from my health issues, I'd go mad, honest truth. The thing is, the stock game isn't the greatest (my opinion), but the mods out there - this one included - are phenomenal (as is the modding community). KSP is a playground for mods - buying the game is buying a ticket to install mods (my opinion) and modders like you help make that a reality. Flat out, without people like you, doing what you do, I could not get through my day. Thankfully, there are people like you (quite a number in fact), but they are still rare.

Maybe this post will motivate you, maybe it won't. I know this post won't help pay the bills, or feed the kids.

But all the same, thank you.

Do what you feel you need to do. If you love doing this, then continue. If not, then don't.

(In 1.0.5, I actually used this mod quite a bit. In fact, I cloned every single part in it (rewrote/customized the configs entirely). I especially liked the pods - I had big plans for the Voyager pod. For whatever reason, I stopped using it when 1.1 rolled around, and I forget why.)

Like @CobaltWolf I've received a total of 3 donations, which basicly paid for a couple of lunches :D

I write the mods I do for fun.  I do pick up and maintain some others, because I like them and it's not too much work.  When it's not fun, I stop.  Like right now, I'm actually playing the game for the first time in 3 months of modding.

Your models are amazing, I wish I could do the same.  Would you be willing to let someone else pick them up ?

This mod for one totally changed my game and I am sad to see it stop, and I did contribute btw.  To my mind it adds in the missing components KSP needs, a sense that we are not stuck with an advancing Space Program without refinements in the basic capsules, etc.

You might want to consider getting on Patreon, which allows for a recurrent monthly donation to be set up, I believe Bob Palmer (aka RoverDude) has had some success with it, but even with all he does I don't think he makes all that much.  We live in an age of (perceived) entitlement, free music, free video, free porn, etc available through the Internet and people forget that it takes a lot of effort and time to produce.  Because you can easily get it doesn't mean it was easy to produce, a lesson that is lost with digital replication unfortunately.  I can't say I blame you for giving up, but I do believe modding is an act of self-gratification bolstered by the knowledge there are many folks you will never see or know who employ your work.

I would implore you though to consider allowing someone else to develop while you are off on other things, you never know you might want to pick it back up one day.  If you simply stop development and walk away forever quite frankly all your prior work is for nothing really as no one will continue to use the mod, which would be a real shame in the long run, better to let someone else pick it up for a time.  Mods really should be treated as an Open Source development effort, wherein others can pick up where you left off as you pioneer other mods.

This looks like a great mod, so sad to see it go before I even got a chance to try it. :) But, I see that you're making 3D models, possibly to sell. Have you considered getting into the Daz Studio/Poser market? With your model quality, and some added textures and surface settings, you could easily get some good sales on one of the big stores. Maybe not to the extent of those making sexy human figures, those always outsell everything else, but there's a number of us who'd love some realistic space vehicles for our 3D art. :)

Maybe the command pods need to add KerbalNet compatibility.

Some parts(Solar Panel、Chute etc.) need to adjust their category.

I've made some adjustment for playing 1.2 before you update it officially and no issues indeed.

Great mod and no rush for the update! Ignore my poor English.
