Did not look like an turret more like searchlights or speakers. And it was an van, if you wanted something armed you used an hummer or an stryker.
They acualy have APC at KSC, they are used if you need to get close to something who might blow up. In an APC you are safe as long as the hatch is closed.

There are more subtle solutions.

Still nothing about the weather? I guess it's still go for launch.

It doesn't matter what the weather is now unless it endangers the pad crew, it only matters what the weather is at the time of launch and shortly after (at both the launch site and the recovery sites). We won't be able to accurately know that until a few minutes beforehand.

Let's hope it clears up.

We are eyewitness of the beginning from a new era of manned space flight.

The new (texture replaced) space suits looks so good and perfectly safe.
The new (RasterPropMonitor) IVA touch screen control panels looks wow and seems to work "go for launch".
That marvelous (Tundra Exploration) Rocket will bring them up today.
We earthlings will (Probe Control Room) follow mission accomplishing from our home bases.
Hope we get pairs of (Hullcam VDS) and IVA-Launch-Cams till docked on live stream.

Behnken and Hurley must be 5-***** in KSP 2.

Go Dragon Go.

Touch down Stage 1,TOUCH DOWN!

And finally: Thanks to all the modders, Kerbonauts and communiteers here,
who makes and keeps KSP as it was, is and will be and stay in the future.
(And be part of my life since 2014.)

I do not want to be locked into a small capsule with no way out even if there is nothing "particularly flammable".

Well most things in your apartment is flammable.
You are not in an space suit and can not flood it with inert gas, they have plenty of helium.
Any sort of fire is an abort anyway.
Argon system is common in closed quarters there you don't want water or foam like server rooms.
Yes this has safety issues because an room without oxygen is not healthy. But you are not in an space suit or smoke diver gear.
Assume they are more common in even more critical systems. In the oil industry they tend to use nitrogen as its cheap and you can use it to flood inert pipes like the ones to the flare .

If weather causes a scrub, when is the latest possible time to do so?

They will either launch on time today or the mission is scrubbed for the day.

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood your question.

T=-0.1

I was under the impression that the major weather decision was made pre-fueling at t-45m.   Of course a lightning strike or winds could scrub later, but if they fuel the craft, it's most likely going to go re weather.

The thing is, weather must be green not just at the launch site. Because the mission could have an abort during launch,a massive, continuous area must be green in weather, so looking at just Cape might be misleading.

There is still this system to the south, but other looks like its going north (radarscope is a great app, worth the 10 dollars as you get the actual NEXRAD data)
