Superfluous J
Considering the Death Star Planet or whatever they called it, shot multiple beams that were all visible from a planet that was not a target of it, and then hit multiple other planets, we can assume that not only were all the planets in the same system, they were likely all moons of the same gas giant. Of course, that gas giant would also have to be orbiting two suns and not mind one of them going away, but hey I don't write the stuff. Food, they need food and drink, so thats correct, and....buildings, they live in buildings, thats pretty accurate, shelter is a very real survival necessity....and I guess they sorta peripherally hint that humans cant breathe vacuum, cant really think of much else to be honest. There’s a serious discrepancy between crossections on whether the Millenium Falcon has a toilet or not. I’m not kidding. 2 hours ago, 5thHorseman said: Considering the Death Star Planet or whatever they called it, shot multiple beams that were all visible from a planet that was not a target of it, and then hit multiple other planets, we can assume that not only were all the planets in the same system, they were likely all moons of the same gas giant. JJ has declared that the weapon was so powerful it allowed temporary viewing across the galaxy at FTL speeds. A very neat way to recycle a nuTrek scene. Yes and no. They had a nervous life. The toilet suddenly was at any place where a thunder of plasma hit caught everybody of them. So, no need in special cabin. DDE
12 hours ago, kerbiloid said: Yes, a woman with steel nerves. Mission Specialist, @razark. I had to check if those even got astronaut wings, and apparently NASA gives them some sort of a derpier version. “Engineer in a spacesuit”, to quote the not-Dzhanibekov from Salyut 7. Thing is, this is going to become more and more common if, or rather as, the number of space fliers increases. With the Shuttle’s crew of seven, NASA went well outside the original all-military recruitment pool (and Gene Cernan), and something like this was going to happen sooner or later - or at least much sooner were the recruitment pool limited to fast jet pilots. Hell, in case of the Soviets, excrements, or rather, vomit hit the fan the very first time they changed their recruitment pool - if even half of the gossip about Tereshkova is true, she botched the flight, from lost pencils and fabricated flight logs, to eating unauthorized food before the medics got their hands on her, to actually leaking info about the Vostok ejection sequence that would invalidate the first space flight claim under ICAO definition. So we may actually end up with the thoroughly unprofessional civilian astronauts of sci-fi.

kerbiloid
Probably we should distinguish two rather different things: an emotial motivation causing an inappropriate decision (though with rational and cold-blooded implementation) a hysterical reaction (crying, hallucinations) Nobody is guaranteed from the first one, but the second one looks absolutely inappropriate for a spacehuman.
