I would probably get impatient about a third of the way through and speed up to orbital velocity, thinking that the fastest way to go around is to go around low and fast. And then misjudge rising terrain like I did recently on the Mun with poor Jeb on a high velocity EVA. We'll all miss Jeb. The memorial is next Tuesday, we couldn't find enough pieces to have a burial. I have my super-duper ground hugging technology at work I can go over 30 on the flat areas, and if I keep it under that over ridges I am usually okay. Over 40 and a good bump sends you too high and usually means destruction. I've got the rear thrusters set to toggle on an off and thrust limited. The issue at the moment is I don't have a enough fuel to get further than a quarter the way around. I should probably put a drill and a processing unit on it and park it for the evening, if there is ore there. Triop
Checkpoint 25 I didn't do much driving yesterday, I'll have to pick up the pace today . . . TBC

Triop
Out of power . . . I might as well setup Checkpoint 26 here. No No No NO NOOOOO ! ! ! I need to get a new buggy to Jeb, hope I can land there... I kinda like that this happened, Jeb can get some rest from driving and I can go and do some flying TBC
Triop
Unbelievable... The solar panel still works. The damage doesnt look that bad. Maybe we can save the Black Night. I shouldn't have EVA-ed Jeb, there is no way he can get back in again... Wauw... Jeb managed to push the buggy over and was able to get inside Now we have another problem, we can't extend the solar panel and we need juice to roll over... Deddly
OH NOES!! o Some thoughts... If I remember correctly, the rear of that cockpit is also a door Jeb might be able to push the rover over, at the risk of himself being squished to dust Won't the other solar panels on the front pick up some sunlight? It really does look salvageable... Edited September 11, 2018 by Deddly

I can't push the rover so it would flip, I can only wiggle it, just a little bit. I need torque. About 100 charge to roll the buggy over I guess. Since it is night and Jeb is going nowhere for a while I might send in someone to push over the buggy TBC Edited September 11, 2018 by Triop
Triop
About to send out Val, we choose a small jet so we can get as close as possible and maybe even give the buggy a push (wishful thinking, I know) Edited September 11, 2018 by Triop

Triop
OMK!1! Almost crash-landed into Jeb . . . Val to the rescue, I hope . . . This is so wonderful, it actually worked! Val was able to push Jeb's buggy releasing the solarpanel ! TBC Edited September 11, 2018 by Triop

Triop
YES WE CAN ! Sunrise, charging batteries and retracting solarpanel. Managed to upright the buggy doing some "breakdancing". The bad news, the solarpanel broke . . . We still have some solarpanels left on the buggy so we have desided to keep on driving. TBC
Deddly
That's great news! But I think if you can fly a skilled engineer out there over night, you should be able to repair that solar panel EDIT: Oh yeah, and don't forget you could turn off a couple of the wheel motors and save some electricity Edited September 12, 2018 by Deddly

Deddly
I could be wrong... it will be interesting to see the result of your test. But turning off two motors will definitely reduce your electricity consumption, which should be useful since you're apparently not gaining charge whilst driving anymore. No, it didn't work, I've tried it with lvl 5 Bill. Turning off 2 motors is an option I might consider, thanks for that tip. Mostly I'm driving up a dune and let the buggy roll down without using batteries. I need a new name for my buggy now that it's lost more limbs . . . Any suggestions anyone ? Deddly
Ack! Sorry for misleading you on the repair thing, then. I wonder why they can't do that... EDIT: The more parts that get damaged or fall off, the better the name "Black Night" fits Edited September 12, 2018 by Deddly

Triop
I'm only around 40 km away from my last checkpoint and I already have to turn my buggy to recharge. I remember now this was the reason we flew in a new buggy in the beginning. . . I am turning off the power of my backwheels as @Deddly suggested. 4X4 is now frontdrive....What a piece of crap I'm driving in, I love it ! Let's wait and see.
