But these can be transferred between vehicles. In old Soyuzes. Current ones are more unified.

GuessingEveryDay
ISS just flew over Florida, was surprisingly bright tonight, compared to the time I recorded it.

Probably more about the angle of the sun vs the orientation of the station, how soon after dusk, etc...

I've seen it a few times. Once, so bright it didn’t seem like a satellite (had the shuttle attached) - but other times dimmer. I'm certain it is the angle you view it in relation to the amount of darkness and its angle relative to the sun. In other words - the apparent brightness varies

Spotthestation website ( https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/ ) shows passes, but not apparent magnitude. Some of the various astronomy sites show the magnitude of given passes I think (celestrak, etc). kerbiloid
Deorbiting ISS is pathetic. It's much funnier to dock a nuke tug and launch it outside of the Earth SOI. It would be the first interplanetary shelter ever. Maybe long after somebody will dock and await for rescue team.

It’s designed for Earth orbit. It’s communication systems can’t reach Earth from deep space.

The communication is not a problem, the probes are managed at many AU, just attach a better antenna.
burn n crash
I don't know very much about this topic, but is there any viability in boosting it to a higher orbit to become a space museum in the future, similar to how many retired ships are converted into museums? kerbiloid
@Codraroll @Beccab The article and my comment are about the US proposals for 1 bln. Probably, you have reacted before realizing it, so your reaction looks ambiguous. P.S. But anyway, thank you for support.
